I recently returned my preliminary ballot to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and three former Buccaneers were checked off rather quickly.
From a list of 102 modern-era candidates, John Lynch, Ronde Barber and Simeon Rice were easy choices to advance to the group of 25 semifinalists that will be announced in November. (more…)

Bryan Anger is one of the better punters in the NFL, but he needs to reduce his workload the rest of this season. The Bucs require maximum possessions to compensate for a historically bad defense.
Unless it’s fourth-and-9 from the Tampa Bay 22, Anger should remain on the sidelines. OK, that’s an exaggeration, but you get my point. (more…)

The little things will get you every time.
The Bucs did some things very well Sunday in Atlanta, but the details did them in. This football team isn’t good enough to overcome key mistakes — and Tampa Bay made too many of them in dropping to 2-3.
Gerald McCoy can’t be flagged for an illegal use of the hands penalty on a 3rd-and-11 incompletion early in the second quarter. Instead of settling for a field goal, the Falcons scored on the next play.
