When this Buc season of despair mercifully concludes, some misguided souls will argue that a slew of injuries on defense derailed a promising start.
Some will point to the absence of Mitch Unrein, Vernon Hargreaves, Chris Conte and Kwon Alexander as key factors in Tampa Bay’s demoralizing collapse. And they would be wrong.
Dirk Koetter said last week’s decision was close. This one shouldn’t be.
If Koetter has the audacity to announce Ryan Fitzpatrick as his starter Sunday against the 49ers, it can mean only one thing – the man wants to get fired. (more…)

Here we are again on Buccaneer Boulevard, talking about finishing out a lost season with pride.
We’re all too familiar with this scenario as Buc fans head toward Thanksgiving with one eye on the cranberry sauce and another on the next NFL draft.
Brent Grimes talks to Ira
It’s painful to look at the standings and even more painful to remember that this team was once the talk of the league.
When the Tampa Bay locker room opened Sunday, I risked a pulled hamstring by running after Brent Grimes. The veteran corner hadn’t talked publicly for awhile and he was booking toward the exit door when I blocked his path. (more…)
The breathtaking promise of the opening two weeks has turned into harsh reality. This will be an 11th consecutive Buc season without a playoff berth, followed by a regime change.
This was the game that could have prompted a turnaround, facing a battered Redskin team at home. This was the game to stop the bleeding and trigger a winning streak against bottom feeders like the Giants and 49ers. (more…)
BUMPED to the top of the page in case you missed this great episode!

At times, their finesse is astounding. At times, all those weapons coalesce into an offense that takes your breath away. At times, they look downright dangerous.
But most of the time, they’re not nearly good enough, not nearly tough enough. (more…)
Dirk Koetter says the Bucs are mired in a depressing pattern this season.
Make that 11 seasons.
Koetter was referring to Tampa Bay’s habit of falling far behind in the opening half, only to stage a comeback bid that falls short. We’ve seen that play out against the Steelers, Falcons, Bengals and Panthers while the Bucs dropped 5-of-6 after a 2-0 start.
The overarching pattern, however, is far more depressing. The playoff drought is almost certain to reach 11 years and another regime change appears likely.
This team has changed defensive coordinators and quarterbacks, yet the losing continues. (more…)
