“It Wasn’t Too Loud That Day”
November 2nd, 2013Loyal Bucs fans remember that cold Seattle day back in 2009, when rookie Josh Freeman and his 1-12 Bucs made their way to the Great Northwest and thumped the Seahawks 24-7.
Sammie Stroughter was the Bucs’ leading wide receiver. Derrick Ward spearheaded the rushing attack, and the defense forced turnovers, as the Bucs’ stormed back from a halftime deficit to score 18 points in the third quarter.
“It wasn’t too loud that day,” Donald Penn said last night on the Buccaneers Radio Network.
Penn, of course, was referring to the infamous 12th man, the intense noise at Seattle’s home turf. The Bucs’ defense took the crowd out of the game in the first half, and Freeman and friends shut them up for good with that third quarter, rather commonplace after Raheem Morris made second-half adjustments/woke his team up.
Penn’s point was how very important it is for the Bucs to start fast on Sunday. That’s the only way to dial back the crowd, he said.
Unfortunately, Greg Schiano told fans the Bucs can’t come “storming back,” like the those high-powered ’09 Bucs. But the Bucs do have the defense now to stifle the run-focused Seahawks and keep the crowd subdued. Joe shudders to think of what might happen Sunday if the Bucs trail by two scores early.

Im telling you we will win but most of you wont listen…..but thats cool 😉

Playing in Seattle who’s been struggling lately but who is fired up and eager to get back on track and prove they’re a contender? Without Mike Williams and Doug Martin? With a rookie QB against the best secondary in the NFL? Coming off a demoralizing beat down that pretty much sucked the remaining life out of this team? Yeah, right. Good luck with that.

MadMax,
Show us that you’re serious! Bet something like- if the Bucs lose, you won’t post again until they win a game! If you won’t bet, then you’re just selling wolf tickets. Lol

What if we let schiano coach the first half and bring back raheem for the second half of games? Whala winning football.
November 2nd, 2013 at 11:39 am
Why not make Raheem Morris the Liason between players and HC Schiano. This way Schiano could have toes on the line and Raheem allowing some space between the toes and the line could reduce the morale issues.

Then we could hire Pioli to draft and find free agents, and Dom be the money guy. This team would be banging on all cylinders finally.

Oh yes…I remember that game….a “meaningless” game that lost us a shot at the great SUH…..we ended up with GMC.
Also…Freeman showed great promise….and I believe that victory helped to lead him to a 10-6 season in 2010….so much for “meaningless” games.
November 2nd, 2013 at 12:32 pm
Freeman’s not here anymore and will be outta the league. McCoy is nowhere near Suh’s level of play. Not even close. McCoy is soft. Suh plays with a mean streak.
November 2nd, 2013 at 12:55 pm
@ Chris – Suh is garbage! His popularity is centered around his dirty play! Take away his actions of kicking people and snatching helmets off, and you have a marginal at best DE! He is a head case
November 2nd, 2013 at 1:12 pm
Lol dc. Watch him play. The guy is relentless. Dirty? Who cares. McCoy plays too nice on the field. Not strong enough. If you’re saying you would take Mccoy over suh I’d say you were mark dominiks bro.

Chris-
Winner!!!!
Most clueless, incorrect, and misinformed post of the year!!!
Just nudged out The clueless PrBucFans” Glennon will lead us to the playoffs” post!
Congratulations!

@ Chris is just a lions fan trolling a bucs website. Has to be…
November 2nd, 2013 at 1:46 pm
Since the 76, 77 seasons have the Bucs opened up 0-8?
Raheems first win was week seven I think.
Awesome rebuild. One would think it would be difficult to field the worst team in Bucs history, given our history before Tony.
But the rock might just be able to dig deep enough to get er done.
November 2nd, 2013 at 2:00 pm
Lol lions fan huh? I’m actually one of those true die hard bucs fans who’s not delusional. The star on our defense is Lavonte David. Stud. McCoy is good but not top 3 overall pick good. No where near it. The talent evalaution by Dom is horrendous and has been. Schiano has his ups and downs but. He had no one to pick from his first year as he was hired on so late every team had their staff in tact. If it was 2-3 weeks earlier he’d have better choices.

I’m the most clueless Buc FAn?
– back in 2011 I said freeman is not a franchise qb. Lacks poise confidence and ability to read defense and go through progressions. Everyone called me a hater. Who’s right?
– I said bowers was the worst pick we could have drafted and LAuded for torri smith. Fail
– I said I woulda taken Alteraun Verner over Myron Lewis. Verner is having an all pro year. Fail mark dominik.
– I was screaming at the tv for golden Tate when we took Rejus Benn.
– I also said that chandler jones would have been a better pick than mark Barron and that we should not have traded for an unhealthy Revis and. Taken Vaccaro who is earl thomas 2.0.
To call me clueless? I’ve played football and know and watch more than most of you. Am I wrong? Sure. But I’m not gonna sugar coat guys like McCoy and Clayborn are studs. They’re not.
November 2nd, 2013 at 2:17 pm
Sure Chris…..everyone else in football is wrong but you are the great talent evaluater. McCoy is a stud..period. Suh is terrible against the run but of course all you look at is stats. He has 1.5 more sacks than McCoy. So dominant……If we had a decent DC who knew how to use McCoy, Gerald would have the stats too.
November 2nd, 2013 at 2:20 pm
Joe,
Not sure about this defense you keep referencing. Didn’t we just get smoked at home by a 500 carolina team? Oh and thumped by atlanta’s backups? Oh and embarrassed by the hapless eagles offense at home by two scores? LOL@this defense. They aren’t good.
November 2nd, 2013 at 3:23 pm
Bobby, if I remember correctly, you were all about Josh Freeman as a franchise QB that could take Tampa to a Super Bowl?
November 2nd, 2013 at 4:35 pm
Chris- sounds like you shared all this wonderful insight with your TV!!
Uh-huh, suuure!
Mine are all posted here.
And if you think Suh is better than McCoy- your credibility is less than zero.
And everyone can look smart- critiquing draft picks several years later.
Defensive linemen ussually take 2-3 years to adjust. This wS Bowers first training camp
And it was with the Dufuses- Schiano and Sheridan.
Let’s let him and Clayborn recover from their injuries, and get some time in with some real NFL coaches. It took 3 years for McCoy to become dominate.
Let’s give our recovering DEs the same time frame
November 2nd, 2013 at 4:44 pm
I agree that McCoy and Clayborn have not impacted the game. It could be the system or the players real ability. Looking for improvement in Seattle and later games.
November 2nd, 2013 at 5:34 pm
The D-line will stunt and Russell will have a big day on the ground, unfortunately
November 2nd, 2013 at 5:54 pm
Looking at both Clayborn and McCoy coming out of school mccoy strength was a run stopper with pass rush ability to be developed. Best season was 6 sacks in a season.
Clayborn broke out his jr year with 11 sacks. Then had 3.5 his sr yr and was again better against the run. Bowers had 15.5 sacks but didn’t play elite competition and had that knee injury. But Dom knew something about bowers no one else did. Looks like everyone else was right. Dom was wrong.
And apparently capt Tim says I have no sense of football knowledge? Lol. I look at things from a relative perspective. Not homer. Sheridan needs to be fired. He was never schianos first choice. Silly needs to go next. Let schiano get McNulty in there to call the plays and design the offense. Dom cannot scout talent. His drafts have been a failure.
Schiano unfortunately will be gone without being able to establish the team he wants. I do hold him accountable for failure to adjust but I think he’s going to. Bellichik has endorsed this guy but I think schianos hands have been tied. I remember when chip Kelly said he turned down Tampa because he wanted more control on personnel decisions such as bringing in his guys and qb. Dom has too much power with little eye for talent. He’s a good cap manager. That’s it.
