Greg Schiano Is Having Fun

Winless and hoping this is not the last two months of your current gig would be drudgery for Joe. It would be hard to get out of bed much less sleep at night. But that isn’t the case for Bucs commander Greg Schiano.
Despite being mired in such a predicament, Schiano can’t wait to get to his office at One Buc Palace early in the morning. For reasons unclear, Schiano seems to have a revived energy about him. That jumped out at the pen and mic club yesterday in Schiano’s daily press briefing, when local cable TV sports king Rock Riley asked Schiano if he was still having fun.
Schiano couldn’t hold back and gushed over how much he covets coaching football.
“Every day. Every day. I love what I do,” Schiano said. “Twenty-six years, get up every day. Excited to do it. Some days aren’t real fun. You walk into the postgame press conference — nothing personal — and you just got your ears kicked in. I know you are going to get asked the questions — I’d ask the questions if I was a reporter. That isn’t always fun. It isn’t always fun for what your family has to go through but as far as my job? It’s the best! What I do for a living, I wouldn’t trade it. I love it. I know I speak for our coaches and players, that’s what makes it exciting. We are going out to what I think is one of the greatest venues in sport. I can’t wait for them to raise that flag. … Here we go. It’s going to be nuts. We get the loud crowd.
“I’m having a lot of fun.”
Joe isn’t sure many other NFL teams consider the chamber of horrors stadium the Seahawks play in a fun place. But Schiano looks upon it as a fun challenge, just like each week is a challenge, a chess match, trying to outwit his coaching colleagues on the other side of the field.
Yes, strange things have happened in the NFL. Who would have guessed that now-leaky and former Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman, in his first NFL start, would come-from-behind and beat the Packers? Beating the Seawhawks on their home turf, given both teams’ respective records, would be akin to what Freeman did to the Packers.

This is what you call acceptance. He’s turned the corner from stressing about losses and screaming at players on the sidelines and at practices to saying “well, i’ve only got a few games left in this league so may as well have some fun with it”

Yes, Schiano, your team is 0-7 about to walk into a slaughterhouse across the country, you’ve had fingers pointed at you for being a bully, a terrible coach, and even accusations of breaking the law. You were a big part of making this organization look childish with the way you handled the Freeman debacle and the fans are now literally screaming and hashtagging for your head! Oh, but at the end of the day, it’s all about having fun isn’t it? As long as you’re having fun with all this, that’s all that matters right? You and you’re players and fellow coaches don’t get paid more than the President of the United States to WIN GAMES, or MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, or (heaven forbid) WIN A SUPERBOWL. No, as long as you’re having fun you’re a winner in our book, Gregory. Keep up the good work!

Sorry to disappoint you people…but the Bucs will get their first win this week. Against a top team.
Now, instead of cheering, you guys will likely whine that Schiano cost us the #1 pick.
On a side note…there was a time when the Bucs offense had trouble scoring more than 14 points. On October 5th, 1999, the Ledger published a story about how frustrated Tony Dungy was (this was back when we played in the same division as Green Bay, the Vikings, etc).
The OC back then? Mike Shula.
Fans wanted him fired on the spot. They HATED the man. Sound familiar?
The Bucs went on to a 11-5 record that year. If left to the fans, we never would have achieved that mark. Shula was later fired of course…and Dungy disagreed with the move.

I dont know why I feel it, I just do. Maybe its because I want this 1 game…… if we only win 1 game this season, please God make it this one against the Hawks!!!!
Now, NO! The season isnt going to swing wide open for us to win all of the other games, and its still probable that we have a new Coach, plus many others next year.
But this one has all of the ingredients for an upset! We shall see 😉

If you think for one minute the Bucs go to Seattle minus a running game, minus a quarterback capable of connecting on a long ball, a coaching staff that has no clue, and only one inconsistent viable option at receiver and beat the Seahawks, you’re more delusional than the Bozo the Coach.

It is blast going to the games and knowing if you play well that you’re only going to lose by 3 TD’s. It is just so much fun and we have Coach Soprano to thank for that every week.
This A$$Clown is so out of touch with reality. What loud crowds? Nobody wants to cheer mediocrity or worse. The noise he hears are the fans telling him to take his A$$ Clown Coaching Posse back to Joysey.
I swear this guy has no freakin clue. Doesn’t know what to say or when to say it. He is very adept at pi$$ing people off.
Just so ready for this movie to be over. It’s like driving school or worse, where you’re stuck there and can’t leave.

Nice try defending this clown HC u love so much but 1999 season and this season have nothing in common. We only had offensive issues this team in the other hand has HC problems that is contaminating all aspects of the football team worse than the MRSA infection…

It won’t happen- we are miles from beating the Seahawks! But I would love it!
I really wish Schiano had the experience and skills to coach this team. There are a lot if things I like about him.
But the rigid Dictator will never be successful in The NFL. And his schemes are really primitive!
But he can take a punch!

Ya’ll need to lighten up! This is a game, nothing more. Whether they win or lose, have fun or not, I still have to go to work and pay my bills like most other people.
The man likes his job, great. I would hardly call it delusional. We all go through hard times at work and if you listen to the interview, that’s all he is saying. I give him credit for finding a silver lining while being booed and vilified.
He’s our HC for now and we still have 9 games to play. Get behind your team or root for someone else.

Well, most criticized Rah for the clueless look on the sideline and we criticize this guy for staying positive?
I’m convinced we still have a few vets with a cancerous attitude in the locker room.
I’m also convinced the players care little for the GM and absentee owners.

Its not the players fault that the HC and the rest of his circus dont know how to utilize them Biff. Fans complained about Rah allowing the players to do whatever they wanted to do but not for being clueless like Schiano.

We don’t know what it’s like in the locker room and despite the continued “toes on the line” referencing, these are grown men with lives outside of football. I think even Schiano has to relent once off the field. Football is their JOB. I would like to think that when they go home they put the day behind them. We don’t have any Michael Pittmans on this team, that I can tell, and I hope it stays that way!
I once heard someone say, “work is what I do, NOT who I am”.
Like I said, Schiano’s the guy for now.
