Fighting The 12th Man
October 29th, 2013How loud is the 12th Man for the Seahawks? Loud enough that on a weekly basis it messes up opponents. Visiting teams average 2.3 false starts a game. Naturally, the Seahawks brag it is because of their raucous 12th man.
How loud is the 12th Man for the Seahawks? Well, decibel meters suggest it is akin to an active flight deck of an aircraft carrier, at times the noise from the 12th Man reaches some 136 decibels, 14 short of rupturing eardrums.
Bucs linebacker Mason Foster knows all about the 12th Man. He played college ball at the University of Washington. While in college, the San Francisco native went to a few Seahawks games and came away impressed.
“It’s tough,” Foster said. “I went to one of the games probably my sophomore or junior year and it was crazy. Those fans are crazy up there so I know firsthand, but it’s going to be a great game. I’m excited to be up there; great environment to play in.”
Here’s the thing: Teams don’t play against noise. If teams prepare appropriately, then noise doesn’t matter one bit. It’s a fallacy, to be honest.
Just do your job, focus on the task at hand and all will be well. Besides, the Seahawks are coming off a nailbiter of a win over St. Louis. The Bucs will have their hands full with a whole lot more than just crowd noise.

Watching their game last night vs the Rams gave me some hope that we actually could make it close….but then I realized that we were playing…….THERE!!! I think that venue saved Schiano from getting fired last week….no owner would want to send a new coach (even an interim) into that snakepit…

We struggle with false starts in an empty stadium at home. Pretty sure we’re going to stick to our standard plan of beating ourselves with penalties and being predictable in all facets of the game. Seems to be working thus far and we’re well on our way to shooting the moon.

They’re doomed. Can anyone point to one time this season that this team has been prepared? This is going to get ugly.

The only glimmer of hope is that the offensive tackles for Seattle looked pretty bad lady night. Granted one was up against Chris Long and our D-line has a way of making O-lines look like pro bowlers but still they looked pretty shacky.

Joe, since today is the trade deadline, what do you think the chances are of the Bucs letting go of a player for draft pick(s)? After all, we are short 2 picks for next year.

uPset Alert!!
We’ll beat Seattle….

Sorry I think we get creamed in Seattle.

A few of our patented 9 minute drives for a field goal…should help us to beat the spread….

Remember that children at 1Buc on Fridays are a distraction.
If that’s the case, the 12th man in Seattle will probably cause the Bucs to literally crap in their pants.

Good thing Josh By Gosh isn’t here anymore. We would never get a single play in.
This will probably be a beat down of EPIC proportions. Even by Buc standards. A win would be so sweet though. The Seahag fan’s run their pie hole’s like they actually won something during their NFL tenure.

For Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, seasoned QBs that call their own plays, that is true. For a rookie QB that has played all of 4 games that is highly dependent on sideline communication and direction, it’s disastrous!
October 29th, 2013 at 9:28 am
The Bucs should be so desperate to win that they crush the Seahawks in their nest.

Is this the game where Mike Glennon has HIS headset go out? Will Gerald McCoy get a sack? Will Mike Sullivan run the ball on first 65% or more on first down?
Tune in to Fox 13, Same Buc Time, Different Buc place!

Seriously though…it would be a mighty nice gift if the Bucs shut up the loudest fans in the NFL.

It would be nice to get a couple picks. I wouldn’t put it past Dominick but I don’t see much happening.
October 29th, 2013 at 10:58 am
I agree with Bonzai. I think Dominik would relish the opportunity to trade some starters for draftees he can cut in 3 years when they don’t work out.

The Rams kept the game close with their pass rush. The best chance to win is for the Bucs to have a great defensive performance. Since the pass rush is almost non-existent and they’ve struggled with mobile QBs, it could be a long day.

@BuccaneerBonsai: Apparently you called it correctly – no trades for our Bucs
