Waiting On Martin’s IR Announcement
October 28th, 2013No surprise here. As Joe reported early Friday morning, Mike Williams’ hamstring injury is very serious.
The Bucs officially put Williams on injured reserve today. His season is over.
Joe hopes to hear a similar injured-reserve announcement soon for Doug Martin. Joe can’t find any sense in doing anything other than letting Martin heal his injured shoulder, which has been reported to be a torn labrum, though the Bucs have not confirmed that.
It’s a lost season. There’s no reason to risk Martin, who’s a stellar running back and under contract through 2016.

I agree Joe. No point in playing Martin when the season is lost. Besides, it will give rookie Mike James more playing time to possibly develop him into an NFL runningback. He hasn’t played half bad and only got 10 carries for 30-something yards I believe in his first start at runningback on Thursday. Boy, would it be something beautiful for the Bucs to have a 1-2 punch at RB with Martin and James next season. Of course, that’s a stretch but James is gonna have over half a season of NFL starts and will probably share some carries with Brian Leonard. This might negatively effect Glennon’s development though, not having a reliable runningback in the backfield. But then again, the O-Line hasn’t been reliable to cover the run or the pass this season.

Damn right put Martin on IR! And while they’re at it… put Revis, Goldson, McCoy, David, Nicks, and V. Jax all on IR too. This season is lost and the Glazers should be protecting their investments. These guys are all high paid and proven. Bring them back next year healthy and motivated with a new coaching staff. The rest are playing for jobs and experience. We’ve seen enough of Glennon to know he’s nothing more than a career backup…

I agree with putting Martin on IR.
However, would you guys hold the same view if you were in Schiano’s position?
I might be throwing whoever I could out there to get some wins.

This lunatic of a coach wants Martin to be back by November 11. Yeah, let’s go ahead and put one of our best players out there in a wasted season with a torn labrum! Anyone still not see the value in getting rid of this clown now???

I’m putting myself on injured reserve. This away game at Seattle has all the potential to be a really, really bad game. Can’t wait.
