Report: Leslie Frazier Didn’t Want Freeman
October 10th, 2013NBC Sports NFL analyst and former Bucs QB Shaun King dropped an interesting couple of Josh Freeman tidbits on the Ron and Ian show on WDAE-AM 620 this morning.
King said he was in touch with folks in the Vikings organization and learned that Freeman’s arrival was not blessed by the Minnesota head coach and Freeman turned down a bigger contract.
“They tried to get Josh to sign a two-year deal. But Josh and his camp wanted to just stay with the rest of this season. Leslie Frazier, you know, won’t handle it like Greg Schiano did, but Leslie Frazier really wasn’t in favor of bringing Josh Freeman in,” King said. “This was [general manager] Rick Spielman and the owner who overruled the head coach and said, ‘No. We’ve kind of figured out what Christian Ponder is. We want to see what Josh Freeman can bring this team.'”
Joe wonders whether Freeman knew before he signed whether Frazier wasn’t cheering the move. Perhaps the chance to start for a decent team and revive his career was enough for Freeman?

Coach Frazier always said he believed in Ponder
October 10th, 2013 at 11:46 am
Hard to imagine why Frazier didn’t want a QB who has to take medication to stay focused, missed photos and meetings and breakfasts and kids’ camps, and is in the NFL drug program.

Wait……. An NFL coach didn’t want Freeman? Say it isn’t so!

Move on———–>JF#5 is gone.
October 10th, 2013 at 11:52 am
Frazier as well as the other 31 NFL head coaches see the HEAD CASE Freeman really is.
Talent, potential, physical abilities coupled with a ten cent head and a puppy like intensity.
Freeman looks the part, surely, but he lacks the mental toughness to anything in this league.

It’s pretty clear that I was over him. I think something that everyone can agree on, between his 59 starts here, and now Minny, is that he has had, and will have every opportunity to prove himself. More than any other QB that I can remember. Most guys get 2 seasons. He will get close to 5.

ODB,
Right on, Freeman had 61 starts with the Bucs. Surely Schiano can get at least two years.
The Fans should blame Freeman/Dominick for our current state of affairs.
This is 5 years in a the making, one helluva a “Busting out party” for Freeman.. BUST! BUST! BUST! What a waste of talent.
October 10th, 2013 at 11:59 am
I wouldn’t want Freeman either. Who wants to deal with that headcase?

Article belongs on “JoeVikesFan.com” Can we please move on. Its seems we are so worried about validating the decision about cutting JF5, that we have to continue to follow him on and on.

Morgan:
Sorry. The guys who couldn’t coach him up are still here
October 10th, 2013 at 12:16 pm
Don’t care anymore about JF.. Bye week calmed my nerves and I’m ready to give Schiano a chance now that this mess is behind. If he can get to 10 wins this year, I’ll admit that I was wrong on him but I’m still thinking that he won’t get to 5 wins..

[…] The Minnesota Vikings were the best opportunity for Josh Freeman to get what he wanted the most; a chance at starting. However, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier did not want the team to sign Freeman, according to NBC Sports’s Shaun King, who is a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback. King told this news to the Ron and Ian show, via Joe Bucs Fan. […]

“Sorry. The guys who couldn’t coach him up are still here”
I think how Glennon progresses over the remainder of the season will shed more light on the ability of the coaches. i.e. you can coach up the coachable.
October 10th, 2013 at 12:41 pm
Lol it’s clear someone else is apparently stuck on Free as well.
October 10th, 2013 at 12:42 pm
Nobody can make gold out of sh!t unless they have magical powers. “It’s the coaches fault” can be said for any bust.

HEY JOE !!!
Didnt chucky the media darling in the bay area do the “A” Train the same or worse than Schiano supposely did Freeman.. Chucky shorten his career and stop playing him and said he could only be ful back as if the Train DIDNT KNOW HOW TO RUN THE BALL..
Difference is “A” train produced and Freeman didnt he was never consistent and that wont allow you to be a winner in NFL
MEDIA = LOVED CHUCKY CAUSE HE SPOKE EVEN IF NOT TRUE
MEDIA= Hates Schiano cause he doesnt talk so they make things up as if they are in meeting and locker room

ignore my previous post it was accident, i posted it on previous article
October 10th, 2013 at 12:55 pm
Why after 5 years does he have to be coached up as if he is a rookie or youthful qb? 4 year starter and he is and was a low performer. He will be the same poor mechanics and inconsistent qb.

He’s just throwing out bait, no way he could actually believe that garbage.
Deny it all you want lol
October 10th, 2013 at 1:28 pm
This reminds me of a cartoon someone posted somewhere last year…. Chip Kelly walks into One Bucs Place, takes 1 look at JF and walks right back out the door…(priceless)
I believe Chip is glad to have dodged that bullet….
JF is the Vikings problem child now…
October 10th, 2013 at 1:37 pm
Move on Joe. You may as well post articles about Ponder. We don’t care about the Vikings QB’s.
October 10th, 2013 at 1:47 pm
I wish Josh well in his career. Only time will tell. This organization does have a history of getting rid of QBs who do better elsewhere. I remember when Steve Young was considered a bust when he played in Tampa.
October 10th, 2013 at 2:20 pm
Steve Young wasn’t here 5 years either 😉

“Sorry. The guys who couldn’t coach him up are still here”
Are you serious?? LOL You know what happens to all of those numbskulls?????
THEY ARE OUT OF THE LEAGUE!!!!
October 10th, 2013 at 3:41 pm
Frazier will be unemployed by years end if he doesn’t turn it around, much like our coach.

“Sorry. The guys who couldn’t coach him up are still here”
But Joe still wants Josh…
Jimminy Christmas Joe make up your mind already. One day your bashing Freeman. The next day your blaming it on the coaches for not coaching him up. WTF is the deal around here anyways with you two Joes?

“Thrust problems.” 🙂

Buc1987 ,
If I were to give my theory I would say the Joes are playing both sides of the coin, maybe because they truly disagree about the situation OR purposely for the sake of siding with each side to generate more traffic!

Haha, Frazier is smarter than I thought he was…….there ya go Gosh, working under another HC who’s not fooled by you.
