“I’m Not There Yet”

Darrelle Revis delivered some good news in a backhanded way today.
Bucs coaches have talked a lot about the self-scouting and self-evaluating they’ve been doing over the bye week, so Joe figured he’d ask the Bucs’ $1 million-per-game cornerback to evaluate his game to date.
Revis answered the question but also explained that he’s not yet at full strength.
JoeBucsFan.com: Evaluating your first four weeks at the bye, how do you think you’ve played? Have the fans seen Darrelle Revis?
Revis: No. I’m not there yet. I feel like I’m not there yet. I still got to improve, man. It’s a long process with ACL injury. And the good thing about it is I’m improving every week. I’m just trying to get better. That’s all.
Revis has played well, so it’s good news for Bucs fans that Revis isn’t even 100 percent.
As for getting beaten by Larry Fitzgerald for a key touchdown against Arizona last week, Revis said that had nothing to do with his injury.
“When [Fitzgerald] scored on me, he ran a triple move; it was a great route,” Revis said. “You know, from studying him and playing against him in the past numerous times, usually they run fade routes. I took a guess and took the wrong guess, and he slipped, you know, did a nice move and slipped inside of me and made a great throw. That’s on me because I was in man coverage. That’s all on me.”

Revis is one helluva standup guy to take the heat for what appeared to be a zone call by the coaches, when it was clear that had he been playing man Fitz wouldn’t have been open like that.
I’m sure there are dozens here that will say I’m mistaken…but Boy, at this point I don’t believe ANYBODY within this organization. This is soooo sad.
Is THAT what Schiano’s really asking of these guys? To cover his ass for his mistaken calls?

I love this guy. All the crap that was going around when we heard rumors of a trade. The man is for real as a player and as a person. He doesn’t walk on water, he knows it, and he doesn’t need to. He’s a top notch person all the way around form what Ive seen and heard since he got here. Best pick up ever. Now lets turn this thing around and get some W’s.

That’s why Schiano doesn’t have him in man to man the entire game yet. Revis isn’t all the way back and you don’t want to put any more strain on the knee than you have to and some schemes require he be in zone. He’s in man about 75-80% of the time.

How will we ever calm Revis down at the end – when we’ve fired Schiano and it looks like the wheels are comin’ off the Buccaneer Schooner?

Revis is a very decent and truthful person. If you don’t believe him don’t listen to or watch the news about his performance .
