Schiano Is “Now In Raheemsville”

There’s no debating that Greg Schiano needs fireproof underwear these days. His proverbial hot seat is broiling. Not even Schiano-mandated thermostat settings around One Buc Palace can cool things off.
Joe believes the heat on Schiano is fair, but not because of the circus-like atmosphere Schiano hasn’t managed well (yes, the head coach personally could have done a much better job deflecting negative attention from his team.), but because the Bucs under Schiano aren’t winning games.
Strip away all the drama, all the rumors, whispers and nonsense, and the Bucs are 1-9 in their last 10 games. That’s deplorable when you look at the talent on the roster. Good teams find ways to win close games. Bad teams do the opposite.
Schiano is “now in Raheemsville,” Tampa Bay sports radio icon Steve Duemig said this week on WDAE-AM 620.
Duemig was referencing Raheem Morris losing 10 straight games to close the 2011 season before getting fired. Joe believes “Raheemsville” is a fair and simple analogy. There’s no way Schiano can survive as head coach if he can’t win a game.
Joe’s not rooting against Schiano in any way shape or form. Sure, it’s nice to land a great draft pick, but when the whistle blows every week Joe wants to see good, winning football. Losing always sucks.
Joe is often asked about Team Glazer’s patience level. Joe can’t predict that, but Joe knows it’s a safe bet that Schiano needs win soon.
Team Glazer often has referenced its excitement about having nationally televised games — especially night home games — for Buccaneers fans and for the pride of the organization. Well, the Bucs have two of those games upcoming this season. Joe suspects Team Glazer might not be interested in showcasing a winless coach.

Greg Schiano is worse than Raheem Morris. Raheem didn’t have the talent to coach that Schiano does.

This year was ruined by Freeman and Dominick for not trading Freeman in the offseason.

The analogy doesn’t work. Schiano has lost a bunch of close games. He derves to be criticized for the teams inability to close out games. But he needs to be given credit for vast improvements on defense. According to Football Outsiders, the Buccaneers are the number 2 defense in the NFL. All of this has been overshadowed by the loss of 3 games in the last two minutes. Still, the team has not YET quit on him. It was obvious in 2011 that the team was just going through the motions. I’m not trying defend Schiano–there’s a lot that he has brought on himself. But I do think the objective evidence suggests that he has improved several areas of the team. On the other hand, W’s count and if the team loses one or two more games, he may be axed. I have my doubts whether the Glazer’s want to win bad enough to absorb three more years on his contract and a high-priced veteran coach. We are likely looking and dumping our stars and starting over.

Raheem’s players quit on him, and we were blown away every game. But yeah, our record is just as bad.

D-Rome Says, hit the nail on the head! Rah hadn’t even close to the roster Schianopolean has had the last 2 seasons! It’s bad when the need for a coaching change is so bad, you don’t care if we lose, if it only means the Glazer Family will wake up and quit letting this KGB wannabe embarrass this entire community the way he has. Like you said Joe, take away all the drama and mishandling of everything from a kneel-down at the end of the game to figuring out how to change quarterbacks….the man can’t win games! THAT is a given, there’s no denying it, it’s simple FACT!

Schiano is left the task if taking out the trash. Freeman and Dominick are Kane ducks.
Schiano is not even given a fair shake. If Schiano is canned, it better ONLY be because GM Mark D is FIRED and the new GM is picking his guy.
Really said that Schiano is judged for Dominick’s lack of depth and Freeman’s pussiness.

You can compare the records but not the Coaches…oh, you can try…but different teams, different talent, different times. Neither one successful….thus far. The only thing they both have in common is Glazers, Dominick & “not ready for the NFL HC Job) oh yes…and Freeman as QB
Comparing them is like trying to compare Freeman to Testeverde…

I’m in favor or a coaching change. I can’t imagine the Glazers will give a thumbs up to 0-8. Why should they? Turn it over to Sullivan and see what happends.

I am thoroughly disgusted with the direction of this organization. As a long time season ticket holder, and holder of Club 1 tix last year, I decided not to renew this year because of the current leadership. I thought I would attend a few games this year but I will not step foot into Raymond James Stadium until Schiano and staff are relieved of their duties. Each day that he remains employed by the Bucs makes a mockery of this once well run organization.

the similarities between Raheem and Schiano are that they both have losing records. after that the similarities end. Raheem likes to foster a country club mentality, and Schiano likes to play the role of a dictator.

This is less about wins now than it is about the brand. Every night on NFL Netwok or ESPN or Fox Sports 1 the story about Tampa is how the “team” is running a kid out of town. All of us football fans watch these programs an it is just depressing to see your hometown linked to this catastrophe. Of course they didint have to suffer through Freeman throwing at people’s feet, missing the snall or overthrowing open receivers, but thats not the point. Joel and Bryan are starting to lose their town. So, like everyone else-here is my advice.
Clean house-100% Dominick too. I wouldnt care who is at fault or debate who should stay. After the front office is empty, hire a VP for Football Operations (a Holgrem/Parcells clone) who can come in and evaluate the way ahead. Sports fans have more media / data than we did 10-20 years ago. Since we are surrounded by media we are comforted by a known personality who has responsibility. Once that person comes in-and makes and assessment, then he can hire a GM then a Coach. This will be expensive-but probably not as expensive as buying up all of he unsold tickets for the rest of the season. If I am depressed by seeing this fiasco on Total Access then Im sure everyone is-and this will affect team loyalty, attendance, and more importantly …profit. And no businessman wants to lose profit. So Bryan and Joel, throw everyone overboard.

Saying Raheem ran a country club style atmosphere is an insult to country clubs who actually have some rules and principles. Raheem was a warden who let the inmates run the asylum, period.

I watched Braidee in his second game hit his receiver in the back of his heels and there was no pressure. All QB’s miss throws. The only difference is when Freeman did it they couldn’t make it up with the god awful teams he played with, where as for Braidee it was just another failed play but they moved on to win anyway.
Freeman was scrutinized before he took his first snap with Tampa Bay. When he was drafted I was at the bar and when he was selected everyone screamed and booed as if their dog got run over. This guy has been under a microscope from day one. Yeah he has made mistakes just like our young Mike Glennon will make but unlike Josh, Mikes not under the same microscope to start his career.

Duemeg may very well be part of a smear campaign against Schiano.
I wonder who is leaking all the “insider” info out of OBP to make the coach look bad. After all, he professes to have all these “unnamed sources” and has pledged to “do everything in my power to run Schiano out of town”
For what it’s worth, he’s the same guy criticizing Maddon everyday, fussing over every single move JoMa makes.
Funny that the Rays and Dodgers are the only two MLB teams to win 90 games in each of the last 4 seasons. The Rays make the playoffs 4 of the last 6 years in the AL East on one third the payroll.
Point is, win or lose, Duemeg is overtly critical of any team Manager who wont coddle or do a show with him. Book it.

I’m not even concerned about all the hoopla that is going on. Schiano may be innocent of everything that is being leveled at him and there’s plenty. What he is guilty of is being a terrible game coach and I’m depending on the schedule to take care of this problem. This is a fact and not innuendo, we are 0-4 and it only gets harder from here. Keep your eye on the stuff that matters. Winning!

The Bucs are in need of new and positive energy. Please oh please don’t let this talented team of players go to waste. Bring in professional coaches like Marty schottenheimer and Cam Cameron. If Wade Phillips wants to be involved bring him in as well. The Chargers went 14-2 with this group in 2006. These coaches don’t have to be here forever but they certainly would be a massive upgrade for the duration that they are.

I’ll take this Schaino team over Raheem’s anytime. Atleast, this team keeps the game close and isn’t behind 4 TDs at halftime.
Their records are where that comparison stops. Comparing Raheem to Schiano is like comparing a Kia Soul to a Ford Pick-up. One is oldschool and tough, the other one’s hip and flashy with a hamster behind the wheel.
