Josh Freeman’s Agent: Greg Schiano Lied

September 29th, 2013

Bucs defrocked franchise quarterback Josh Freeman was ordered to sit in a suite rather than be with his teammates on the sidelines, Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported Sunday morning.

In his postgame press conference after another ugly loss, this time to the Desert Rats sending the team to 0-4, Bucs commander Greg Schiano claimed having Freeman sit in a suite was a “mutual decision” reached by both parties, Schiano and Freeman.

Per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Freeman’s agent has a different version of how the events transpired.

But Freeman’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, said Schiano’s claim was a ‘Lie. Obviously,” in a text to the Tampa Bay Times.

See, this is one reason Freeman needs to grow up and instead of running from reporters and running to BSPN against the direct orders of the Bucs, just answer a few simple questions.

There is controversy swirling over this team like Joe has never, ever seen before. It’s something different every day and now the former franchise quarterback and head coach are in a he-said; she-said match.

Freeman can help end the drama and accusations and leaks by answering a few simple questions. Or does he enjoy watching the team implode?

  1. Walter Says:

If I was Freeman, I’d definitely enjoy watching the team implode. I’m not gonna be there next year.

As for Schiano: I thought you were all about Trust, Belief, and Accountability???

    No one trusts you.

Your team doesn’t believe in you.

You hold everyone but YOURSELF accountable.

    FIRE SCHIANO!!

  2. D-Rome Says:

There is controversy swirling over this team like Joe has never, ever seen before.

I assume you’ve been watching the Bucs for many years. For you to make a statement like this is telling and I don’t think you were using hyperbole here.

  3. chris Says:

Josh Freeman needs to take a page out of Alex Smtih’s character playbook. Alex Smith was playing great last year. One of his best seasons in his career. He was benched when EVERYTHING was going right. Josh got benched for poor play. Alex Smith did everything right and took it like a professional.

Josh is showing the league he is NOT a franchise QB. He is not a leader. He does NOT belong.

  4. Eric Says:

Or schiano could stop the lies and stunts like the suite thing.

The Bucs made it absolutely clear freeman was no longer a part of the future of this team.

He was never gonna play again no matter what. So what’s the point of meetings and telling him which members of the media to talk to?

None, except for coach nut case to rub the guys nose in it. You don’t want the guy, fine. The head coach has that right.

    Now live with it.

  5. 76buc76 Says:

    Who gives a crap

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

So we believe Freeman’s agent…someone who stands to gain from redeeming Josh?

    I don’t know about you, but I don’t think so…..

  7. Young-buc_361 Says:

No crap the running game wasn’t there so why keep running the ball, Schanio is garbage bring a coach from offensive back ground our D can make any player caller look good. FIRE SCHIANO

  8. Walter Says:

    ^^^^^ denial

  9. BustaCherry Says:

I’m not going to take a side here. Just cut the guy. His contract is guaranteed. They got to pay him if he stays, they got to pay him if they cut him. Nobody is going to trade for him. Cut him and end the drama. I heard Jay Glazer today. This latest flap is going national. Makes no sense to me.

  10. Walter Says:

My last post was for Tampabaybucfan.

  11. Young-buc_361 Says:

Everyone can hate on Freeman but facts are facts Schanio did everything he could to break him and he still but us in position to win the first 2 games where ever he lands I will cheer him on. Wonder how he would play with a coach that has his back???

  12. Young-buc_361 Says:

Positive note I like what I see in our new tight end now just need to spread it out and make people fear the pass then Doug Martin will start running but as of now nobody respects our passing game that’s why we are struggling in the run game

  13. Fear the Glow Says:

Has there ever been this much attention paid to a guy with a losing record and no playoff appearances being benched? What the hell is going on?

  14. Pelbuc Says:

Someone inside the locker room needs to grow a pair and tell the Glazers directly that this coach is singlehandedly ( with Sullivan’s help ) tearing this team apart. I never thought I’d say this, but at this point, I would welcome another mutiny ( first one was with Raheem) from the players, although the offense seems like it has tuned out the coaches since game 1. This “Buccaneer Way” is all bovine excrement! This franchise doesn’t need an incompetent dictator, it needs an experienced NFL coach with an offensive philosophy and an established DC. Schiano has proven the players don’t trust him so let’ put an end to this nonsense the sooner the better

  15. RBellBuc Says:

    @chris

Yeah but Harbaugh didn’t exacerbate the situation with coded messages and innuendos. He simply stated he wanted to go another direction.

Schiano created this atmosphere and it blew up on him. Is Josh acting a little selfish for it? yes. But who can blame him when this college bush leaguer comes in to set him up for failure. All training camp he gave MG8 same amount of reps in practice with the first team. Then all preseason MG8 gets the majority. Hello McFly? If I’m Freeman how in the HELL am I supposed to take that. He systematically tore Josh down instead of manning up at saying as the new Head Coach he has decided to go in an another direction. Maybe all this from Schiano was a slap in the face to Dominik because Dominik wouldn’t bend.

  16. Bucfan4life7 Says:

Or if Josh Freeman’s agent is telling the truth then maybe just maybe Greg Schiano can actually act like the tough guy he tries to be and just tell the truth and not be all vague. You made the QB change Schiano so be straight up with us and not try to shy away from things to make yourself look better, he’s not being very accountable. Sorry couldn’t resist from saying that.

Also side note I understand why Freeman doesn’t want to talk to the media or go to meetings because he probably doesn’t feel like part of the team and Schiano has treated him with nothing but disrespect. Also every time Josh does talk to the media it seems like it makes matters worse for him so why do it again?

  17. Capt. Tim Says:

Eric- exactly. This guy is a sad excuse for a coach- but an even worse excuse for a human! The guy told him he didn’t want to play for his wack job ass, and wanted a trade.

trade him!!! Quit being an F+*king jerk!! Schiano is trying to make Josh look like a villain. He’s been accused of lying about the vote for captains. He has tried to” hint ” there is a substance problem.
Has he failed any drug test?

No- he is just sick of Schiano costing the team games, and throwing everyone but himself under the Bus

He asked to be traded. Why take team photos, or go to meetings? He doesn’t want to play for Coach wacko..

Bet that meeting was about a few dozen other players who feel the same

  18. Eric Says:

On a positive note Blount just rambled for a 50 yard TD and Talib has shut down Jones all night.

    No wonder Bellichick likes Schiano.

  19. Cmurda Says:

Im watching Talib D it up and Blount shred the Falcons and considering how he ran all over us, it just confirms that Belichick and Schiano may be friends but only 1 of them is worth a crap as a coach.

  20. Nate Says:

Blount and Talib tearing it up tonight for the Patriots…. Boy I’m sure glad we got rid of those bums. (sarcasm).

  21. Patrick Says:

All Talib and Blount needed was a change of scenery! And to think they weren’t “good enough” for this team. LOL.

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This makes no sense….Schiano would just have avoided the question…he doesn’t need to lie and has no incentive to lie….this is exactly the problem he has with the press….avoiding tough questions.

It may have gone like this…”Josh, I think its a good idea for you to watch the game from the suite”….Josh…OK coach….

That makes it mutual….at least in Schiano’s eyes.

  23. Nate Says:

Who says Schiano can’t develop guys… Are you forgetting the greatness that is Tim Wright!?!

  24. BustaCherry Says:

Off topic. I’m in bed posting while watching the Falcons/Pats game and Legarette Blount just peeled off about a 60 yard TD. I’m convinced more than ever that Schiano should be fired outright.

  25. Bucfan4life7 Says:

Looking at Blount it’s making me realize that it seems like any player Schiano doesn’t like he tries to set them up for failure so he can get rid of them without making himself look bad but he is making the mistake that this isn’t college and players move on to other teams and go back to their previous playing level. The way Talib and Blount are playing is making me think Freeman is going to have success with some other team. Real shame how this is happening because we have a mule as a head coach.

  26. Walter Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

I’m sure the conversation went more like this:

Schiano: Josh, after what you did, running off to ESPN to complain about my decision to bench you, I’ve decided that I don’t even want to see your face on my sideline. You can watch from a suite if you’d like.

Freeman: whatever dickhead, if you can’t trade me, cut me.

Lol probably didn’t really go exactly like that, but that’s how it plays out in my head.

  27. DP4LIFE22 Says:

Josh agent is trying to save what he can from Josh after he showed his lack of leadership after the change.

Most leaders would have responded with a desire to support his team and work hard incase there is an opportunity for him to step in and he would prepare like a starter in case that occurs..

Not josh he wanted no part of working hard, instead caved in and gave up.

wish he would have shown better character cause i like the kid..

  28. That Guy Says:

Never seen so much melodrama out of this team before we hired Schiano. Not sure what the former “Bust in Waiting” talking to the press would accomplish.

Obviously the solution is to give Schiano the increased organizational control he wants so he can sign more of his former Rutgers players and players he recruited out of high school, i.e. Glennon. That way he can accelerate his plan to make this franchise into a total joke.

How’s the high school football beat this upcoming weekend, Joe?

  29. rdbucfan Says:

    Rbellbuc

Mike Glennon “I came in this morning was watching a little film went to do my lift and was told by the strength coach JB that coach Schiano wanted to talk to me. Headed up to his office and that’s when he informed me.”

Thanks for providing me the proof. When you call someone a liar moron make sure that you have proof they are actually lying.

↑↑↑↑ Exactly why I don’t believe a word out of Josh’s, his agent or Joshstraps mouths.↑↑↑↑

  30. Pruritus Ani Says:

I too have never quite seen it at this level…Perhaps with the Raiders but never on this coast. This can’t be allowed to continue. It’s just bad for business and undermines the authority of the organization. Whether you like Schiano or not, you cannot publicly call your boss, or allow your agent to call your boss a liar

  31. Nate Says:

No Schiano only coaches “buccaneer men”. Meaning:

    B = Bad

    U = Underachieving

    C = Chokers

    C = Composure-less

    A = Average

    N = Never winning

    E = Excuse-making

    E = Expectation-less

    R = Rule-breaking

    “men”

  32. Walter Says:

    @DP4LIFE22

Josh was never going to get an opportunity to step back on the field for the Bucs, no point in practicing with the Bucs.

  33. Eric Says:

    And a pick for Talib…..

Really outsmarted the pats on those moves.

  34. RBellBuc Says:

    rdbucfan

I never called you a liar. may have called you am lazy @ss moron!

  35. rdbucfan Says:

No, Josh’s agent doesn’t have an agenda like damage control. The SS Freeman is going all Titanic and Schiano is the iceburg.

Each and every day Josh’s value decreases.

Eric there are 6.2 million reasons for Josh to go to meetings and all that crap and even more if someone will take a chance on him next year. Being a malcontent will not help Josh get a starting job next year.

  36. BucFan20 Says:

Look what BLOUNT’S doing in NE. Blount to STUPID to learn the play book???? And how many posters did we hear that from? And that’s not against AZ defense Martin had today.

  37. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Eric….

I remember when Talib was traded….everyone was saying we picked NEs pocket.
Talib always had this talent but showed it when he felt like it for Gruden, Morris & Schiano.
We drafted hiim in the first round for a reason.
I guess he finally decided to play hard. I think this is more a positive for NE coaches than a negative for ours.

  38. Architek Says:

One down three more to go (Dominik, Schiano, and Ogletree).

Outside of that I have no interests in the Bucs this year.

  39. tamparob Says:

Umm..I’m no fan of Schiano and think he should be fired tomorrow morning.. BUT- do all of you conveniently forget the comments and the vitriol against Talib for the entire time he was in Tampa? You guys hated him- he was overrated, got burned too often, uncoachable, not someone we want here, etc. The Blount move I don’t get– he should still be here. But the posters on this site wanted to run Talib out of town nearly from his first rookie symposium melt-down.

  40. RBellBuc Says:

    rdbucfan

who is this hiding behind a new screen name? hmmm. sounds pretty fkn familiar. coward

  41. Eric Says:

The Other teams are aware of coach nut case. And josh has enough good tape for someone to want him.

Never heard anything about Josh and lack of work ethic before Schiano. Just the opposite. The organization was glowing in his praise.

    Now he’s a scoundrel? A malcontent?

Nah just like with Blount and Talib and Winslow teams want good football players. Josh will get another chance, and likely do very well.

Schiano needs to shut up, get in the film room, and come up with at least a halfway professional offensive gameplan instead of wasting his time in a pissing contest with Freeman. But, being a control freak, I doubt that will happen.

@rdbucfanNot true. When Mike came in he was greeted by an assistant and was asked to go straight to Schiano’s office. His own words

I stand corrected and my apologies sir.

It was Walter that said I was manufacturing lies to slander Freeman.

    Walter Says:

    September 29th, 2013 at 8:51 pm

@RBellBucApparently manufacturing lies to slander Freeman is spreading from Schiano to the fans now lol

  43. RBellBuc Says:

No the reason that ex Bucs are playing elsewhere is because they are playing for bigger markets with history, plus they got the Hell out of Tampa.

  44. nick Says:

    fire schiano

  45. RBellBuc Says:

    #correction

    so well elsewhere

  46. 911bucs Says:

Is it likely the owners will fire Shiano??

  47. rdbucfan Says:

Actually it is not a new screen name I’ve had this screen name for 13 years. I used to post on ESPN, TBO, PFT and Pewter Report with the same name.

Joe can see my email he can confirm I am who I say I am I’ve got no reason to hide.

I was one of the ones begging for trent Richardson in last years draft. I can admit when I’m wrong in which I was very wrong the Dougernaut is much better than I thought he would be.

I’m not going to go back on my assessment of Josh though. I didn’t like the pick and still don’t. I didn’t like the Glennon pick.

  48. rdbucfan Says:

That last post was for you Rbellbuc.

  49. tonytwocents Says:

    smh, regarding Talib and Blount…..

a real coach knows how to deal with talented players that may have issues. like Belicheck….. look how Dungy was able to spin Sapp’s “troublesome” reputation into a HOF career.

Schiano doesnt even try to work with players and and find away for them to get on board and produce. his stubborn a** is cut happy. he’s drunk with power…

Belicheat works with “troubled” players and gets the best out of them better than any other coach Ive seen. Thats why his below average talented team is 4-0, and our above average talented team is 0-4.

  50. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @911Bucs

I think it is highly unlikely the owners fire Schiano….I think Sullivan could be in trouble. Oh, Schiano is on the hot seat…but he has a 5 year contract and I think he will get at least until the end of next year.
Of course, thats my opinion and its no better or worse than anyone else on JBF without inside info.

  51. D-Rome Says:

Of course Schiano is lying. This is the same guy who said Lawrence Tynes was “responding well” to the MRSA treatment.

  52. RBellBuc Says:

It’s ok to not like the QB Freeman but when you say hurtful and personally mean slanderous garbage, and lies about Josh the person is wrong. Up until just recently Josh was the quintessential poster boy for the Bucs. Unlike alot of other QB’s who have done a whole lot worse but somehow get a pass, Josh has never done anything to warrant all this scolding by the entire national, and local media has shown him lately. Like Keyshawn said, instead of helping Josh everyone’s hell bent on crushing him. I don’t get it. He’s not Rae Carruth or Aaron Hernandez for christs sakes. I hope the divorce is final soon and Josh can move on with his career and post more highlights we can all watch and question why? further down the road like Talib and Blount.

  53. rdbucfan Says:

    Eric,

Did you watch the ESPN interview that he was told not to do?

Everyone except Meshon hammered him and sided with the coach not Josh. They hated the way he said hd wouldn’t change.

  54. SacBucs Says:

I told you know it alls last year at our joint practice with NE that Belicheat over looked our whole team and discovered who the best players were. Schiano is Doing what Josh Mc daniels did to Denver. Cutler/Schfter/Marshall you idiots. K2 Talib Blount and Tjack sound good now huh..You fucking fakes. Its sickening!

Always tryna run somebody out of town..comedy

Now you flip floppers can see all of a sudden after jumping on posters with your dumb attacks. Now whos stupid girls.

    Wheres Miguel.

  55. GenocideD Says:

Talib looking like an All Pro tonight.

  56. rdbucfan Says:

    Rbellbuc,

You’re right. But he is acting like a spoiled brat. How do you know they haven’t tried to help him. Some people don’t want help.

The problem is that the bucs owe him 6.2 million and if they cut him they don’t get the compensatory pick in 2015. They just need to do to him what Gruden did to Keyshon. Send him home with pay.

You can’t tell me he’s not hurting himself with the way he’s acting since the benching.

  57. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The Bucs have a long history of players going to other teams and doing well….they include but are not limited to:
    Doug Williams
    Vinny Testeverde
    Steve Young
    Trent Dilfer

But there is a much, much longer list of players that left the Bucs and didn’t play well elsewhere.

You can work on that list…

  58. rdbucfan Says:

The post that Joe put out that said Josh was asking for a trade before all of this sounds more loke fact every day.

  59. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    tonytwocents

Your hatred for Schiano is clouding your judgement…

Lies?….so you believe Josh Freeman’s agent?

    Sully for Interim…..really?

The 9th ranked Offense to 32….

Schiao has at least improved the defense.

We will see…but I think they won’t pull the plug at the top.

  60. RBellBuc Says:

I guess he feels like he has to defend himself against haters like you. See, you don’t just hate Freeman the QB you evidently hate him for him. If you acted that way toward me I’d punch you in the face but I’m not a completely positive you are all there. You’re smear campaign is getting old and without any substantiated fact. All conjecture except for your own personal attacks.

  61. RBellBuc Says:

    for rdbucfan ^^^

  62. Walter Says:

    @rdbucfan

Freeman and Schiano have both handled this poorly, that’s for sure. I don’t think Freeman’s actions following his demotion have affected his value as much as his first 3 games this year though.

Freeman still has value though, all it takes is one team that thinks they can turn his career around. He is still 25 years young.

  63. RBellBuc Says:

    @TBBF

Thats an awful high percentage of QB’s that have gone on and done better.

Name a Head Coach that moved on and was successful?

    I’ll name one … Dungy

  64. Eric Says:

How about the Schiano remark that he had no idea whether they will inactivate Josh for the next game.

    Anyone out there believe that?

Monday he was the starter, wed the back up, Sunday inactive – in the suite!

    And he has no idea?

Really? He’s gonna evaluate him like the other inactives?

Suuuuure he is. That’s not a lie from any agent. That is straight BS from Greg Schiano.

  65. BigMacAttack Says:

Okay it’s after Midnight, has Schiano been fired yet???

C’mon Schefter, let’s get this report going now. I’m tired of waiting.

I think some counselling may be in order….or, perhaps a very, very long vacation where there is no Directv. And, when you come back…say 2015….Schiano will still be the coach and the media will still be trying to uproot him.

  67. 1976Buc Says:

There are lots questions as to whether the coaching staff actually know what talent looks like. We have to start playing to our players strengths. Staff can’t seem to get that. Talib and Blount playing well and I think Trueblood started at Tackle for Atlanta. The veterans in this locker room have to get a handle on this, if it’s even possible with Schiano.

You are dilusional if you think Schiano is about to be let go. The Glazers are solidly in his camp and I can just about guarantee you that he stays until the end of next year…and I believe he will be successful so…beyond that.
    Sully…may be another matter altogether.

Why would you hate Schiano?…he got rid of Winslow, Blount, Talib, Briscoe, Wright and now Freeman….these guys were all a bunch of “me first” off-field losers.
I can understand why the media is going after Schiano…he doesn’t play their games…and I can understand why fans would fall for that….but hate?….that is really strong…kind of personal.
How about skeptical, dislike, unhappy with, tired of, there are many understandiable feelings one could have….but hate?

  70. BigMacAttack Says:

And when do we realize this overpriced O line is mediocre. Zuttah is worse than ever and Davin has forgot how to block.

There is a strong vacuum in the leadership.

  71. Gt40bear Says:

Freeman needs to grow a pair and act like a man instead of the Michael Jackson wanna be he is. For what ever reason, he sucked and is now paying the price. Growing VERY tired of Schiano’s Sam Wyche act, dude needs to go back to college where mind games actually work. Lastly, Dominik might be a good cap guy and administrator but doesn’t know his butt from a hole in the ground about talent evaluation…and no, ONE good draft and a 50% at best success rate in free agency doesn’t count. Fire them ALL let Father Dungy sort them out!

  72. buc4lyfe Says:

Seriously it’s the media who cant let this story go away. people are different and doesnt mean he’s wrong for what he’s doing and doesnt mean he’s right, it just means lol he isn’t handling it the way most people in the millionaires club would

The fact that the media and fans cant stop talking about him is why he’s the one being hated on…everyone is so ready to move on from the freeman era which ended LAST WEEK but freeman is the big topic in the news NOT THE FACT THAT WERE WINNING BECAUSE WERE NOT SO EITHER WAY IT’S ON SCHIANO FOR THE NEGATIVE PUBLICITY NOT FREEMAN BECAUSE GUESS WHAT PLAYERS MISS MEETINGS ALL THE TIME EVEN FOR THIS CLUB BUT IT DOESNT LEAK OUT….THINK THE UNANIMOUS PLAYER FROM LAST YEAR WHO SAID THESE COACHES NEED TO GO BACK TO COLLEGE WAS JUST A RUMOR OR DID IT REALLY HAPPEN

  73. BigMacAttack Says:

Schiano is going down and Dominick may be close behind. At a minimum, Sullivan is getting thrown under the bus.

  74. rdbucfan Says:

    Rbellbuc

I don’t hate Josh the person. I hate that the bucs wasted 4 years on him and now we may have to rebuild again. I can only form my opinion about Josh from what I read and hear.

My disdain for Josh the QB is not any different than yours and Walter’s for Schiano.

I actually feel sorry for Josh Freeman the person and hope he gets help if the rumors are true. But there aren’t many excuses.for a starting QB that is making 8 million dollars to be late for anything related to his profession. My power went out is not a good enough reason to miss the team photo or tardiness. He was the leader of the offense whether he liked it or not. If he didn’t want to he a leader he should have never decided to be a QB.

  75. buc4lyfe Says:

ON A POSITIVE NOTE……SCHIANO SURE KNOWS HOW TO THROW AWAY RICH PEOPLES MONEY DOESNT HE LOL

I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE MOST LIKED COACH POLL BY PLAYERS UNTIL SCHIANO CAME INTO THE LEAGUE LAST YEAR…HE GOT RIPPED BY COACHES LIKE COUGHLIN, GOT PICKED ON BY REFEREES, DAMN LOL HE SAT BACK AND WATCHED TOM COUGHLIN’S OFFENSE SINCE HE’S BEEN THERE AND THOUGHT HE COULD GET SULLY TO BRING THAT OFFENSE OVER TO TAMPA….HE KNEW WE DIDNT HAVE ELI MANNING ON OUR ROSTER, SELFISH COACH WHO WANTS TO DO THINGS MY WAY WITH A SYSTEM HE SAYS IS PROVEN TO WORK LOL IT DIDNT WORK IN COLLEGE SO HOW WOULD HE KNOW IT’S GONNA WORK IN THE PRO’S

HAHAHA LOVE THE BUC “PLAYERS” BUT IM CLOWNIN BECAUSE I HATE THAT COACH AND I DONT KNOW WHY WE SHOULD SIT THROUGH ANOTHER SEASON OF FINDING SOMEONE TO BLAME WHEN WE COULD EASILY STOP LOOKING FOR ANSWERS AND MAKE MOVES AND OBVIOUSLY BENCHING FREEMAN DIDNT SOLVE HIS POOR COACHING SKILLS OR THE ABILITY TO RUN THE RIGHT PLAYS AT THE RIGHT TIME…

DUDE IS SO SYSTEMATIC HE DOESNT REALIZE THAT THE ONLY THING THATS CONSISTENT ABOUT HIM IS THE PLAYS HE RUNS ON SUNDAYS. EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT FREEMAN NOT IMPROVING BUT NOT ONLY DID THEY SAY THEY “UPGRADED THE ROSTER” BUT LOL THEY SAID THEY EXPANDED THE PLAYBOOK AND ADDED NEW WRINKLES..LOL WOW WELL I GUESS THEIR RIGHT BECAUSE WE UPGRADED FROM DOUBLE DIGIT PICK IN THE FIRST ROUND TO TOP 5 PICK IN NEXT YEARS DRAFT

  76. BigMacAttack Says:

Dude, Sullivan’s offense doesn’t work. Why would you promote such a big problem?

  77. White Tiger Says:

Sorry guys, second issue surfacing regarding the coaches lack of character = the players are losing faith in him – Freeman was simply the first.

The players may not have said anything to protect the coach – but the coach should have stepped up and said: Guy’s I changed the vote for Captain.

He did not, he allowed his players to cover for him.

He said: Josh Freeman is our QB, there was more going on than the QB play – just before benching Josh Freeman for performance issues.

On the decision to not make Freeman available, after the benching, Schiano said: it was a mutual decision – reality – the coach lied again, and one of the Joe’s is trying to cover for him by making Freeman’s fault.

I think you Joe’s need to get your stories straight. When you lose a game the same way you’ve been losing games, and no longer have Josh Freeman to blame…now you’re facing the reality that you may have had it wrong: this coaches shocking lack of character is causing this losing streak. He has lost the locker room because he has sacrificed players to save HIS face (i.e., Blount is running like a wildman, and Agib Talib leads the league in interceptions)…

It’s time to level blame, where blame squarely fits – Schiano is a gutless, low-class, NO character coach and Josh Freeman’s loss of faith was only the first – I think it will start showing up with other players as soon as they come back from the bye…

It remains to be seen if the Glazers will right the ship in time to hang on to Freeman – there’s only one way that happens.

Ironically, it’s also the only way they keep a growing group of fans as well…mark me down as first in line to abandon Schiano’s rapidly sinking ship of character.

  78. Patrick Says:

SETTLED for Greg Schiano?? Schottenheimer, Sherman, and Philbin were all available!! But no, we passed over the guys with NFL EXPERIENCE and went with the guy from Rutgers.

  79. BigMacAttack Says:

I’m still behind Dom, but he needs to make a move now with the HC and if the Glazers fired all the Coaches I would be fine with that.

  80. tonytwocents Says:

    from the B Hrald:

“In his last three years at Rutgers, Schiano went through three different true freshman quarterbacks. During a seven-year stretch at Rutgers, he went through six quarterbacks.”

  81. Patrick Says:

But here’s a question that we need to ask:

If we fire Schiano, would that hurt our defense? Aren’t we running Schianos defense from Rutgers?

  82. tonytwocents Says:

    @Big Mac,

I just think that to distance ourselves from Schiano, we need to go with someone whose the polar opposite. And Sully proved that he can coach when he came through with a Top 10 offense in his 1st year as OC.

But his positive personality, energy, his West Point discipline, his focus, it cant be any worse than Schiano’s negative, ball busting, mind games playing, locker room losing, fanbase dividing ways.

This seasons already lost, lets see if Sully can get back to his Top 10 ways…if not, lets start talking coaches for 2014.

    ______________________________________________________________

as good as our D is, we’re still 0-4. how much more hurt can they get? the seasons over. right now, for the fans, its all about 2014. and with the talent we have on D, any defensive minded half wit could make those ballers shine.

  84. tonytwocents Says:

besides, I think Sheridan has had enough time to learn Schianos scheme and keep it going.

  85. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Um…how did Schiano lie?

He said it was a mutual decision. He didn’t say with Josh.

The agent is crossing a line that should not be crossed. Teams will hesitate to go after freeman because of the behwvior of his agent. If I were Freeman, I would fire the guy.

  86. White Tiger Says:

Butch Davis, Jimmy Raye, Joe Mcnulty, Bill Sheridan (ugh), and if anyone reminds me of Dave Wandstedt – I’ll be heading north on I-75 in a slow moing, white, Ford, Bronco, with a (fake) gun to my head…

This man would not be missed.

Just do what he did, announce a roster…er, coahing change LIKE a roster cange…

It would be cool if we could wait for the ticket with Schiano on it in his throwback…oh, wait…nevermind….

  87. tonytwocents Says:

“Teams will hesitate to go after freeman because of the behwvior of his agent.”

I think other teams are aware of this coach’s royal insanity, going back to last year with his game-ending tacticts, gunning for those kneeling QBs. so I think Free will be cut a little slack for putting up for a year and a half with this lunatic.

  88. White Tiger Says:

    @BuccaneerBonzai

Really? That’s what you’re going with? You have evidence the coach changed the vote regarding the team captains – AND you have the coach telling you that the tape showed there were far more contributing factors than the QB – just before he benches the starting QB for “performance issues” .

…you have Blount and Talib proving this guy was wrong about them…

You have a “rumor” spreading that their “may be” substance abuse issues surrounding Josh Freeman – causing other teams to become skeptical of trading for Freeman (could only come from the team – as no one else would know about issues regarding trades)…

…and you see that Schiano went through SEVEN starting quarterbacks in 6 years…

Sorry buddy, you need to own up to it – Schiano crossed the line…not the players representative.

  89. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Coach Tony Dungy kept the job for years with zero offense and a solid defense.

Anything is possible, but I don’t think the Glazers will fire Schiano. He is NOT tearing the team apart. If he was the defense would not be playing so well.

The problem, as I see it, is two-fold. First, Dashon Goldson. He is a great football player but his lack of respect for the rules or his inability to think before hitting is costing the team games. He reminds me of Lynch…but John has said that his style of play would be against the rules today. Goldson, as good as he is, needs to start putting the team first or be shipped out.

His penalty cost us the game. It gave the Cards the chance to get in field goal range.

Secondly, Sully. This is NOT Giants football. Look at them the last year he was there. SB? Last in the league in run game.

Ground and pound no longer works. You can’t run the clock out for an entire half with only a 10 point lead. You have to run ip the score in every game because these high scoring offenses can come back too easily.

Part of this is Schiano. He’s old school. And college football is mostly running. I won’t say either he or Sully needs to go though. I understand the conservative play calling in this game. A rook was starting for the first time.

But that style doesn’t work for anyone any more. The league is making it that way.

  90. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Glennon was releasing faster than Freeman does and his accuracy was a little better…but otherwise he played much like Freeman.

  91. White Tiger Says:

Complete distortions – I can only assume that the coach struck a deal to throw some bones to the lazy local media types – therefore they have decided to carry the water for their investment.

Only possible explanation for Blount and Talib setting the world on fire in New England (a place known for not suffering fools)…

The Schiano thrills stopped going up my leg when I saw him anger one of his friends by forcing his players to go after Eli in the “vicotry formation” at the end of the Giant game last year – the cameras caught Tom Coughlin taking him to task for it – but did ‘coach character’ take his lesson to heart? No, he did the very same thing, with the very same results the following week.

This guys has proven the game is bigger than he can understand – you may still be able to get away with this behavior on a college campus – but you can’t force veterans to witness your lack of character – eventually they correctly deduce that one day this man will turn it on them…

Thats when you lose the locker room – ask EyeRah – he’s seen it ALL before…

  92. Patrick Says:

Well Freeman obviously can’t come back now, Schiano finished him off in Tampa. Might as well let Glennon play the rest of the season and see what we have in him.

  93. tonytwocents Says:

Sully was a QB coach his last year in NY….. His QB??? Was 5th in the NFL in pass ypg.

HE WASNT THE RB COACH, OR THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR. KEEP TRYING THOUGH!

  94. tonytwocents Says:

  95. SSG Mike Says:

I call BullSpit Joe. Freeman’s goose is cooked in Tampa. Let the team and there gameplan and dipshat coach bury themselves. The Bucs weren’t looking out for Freeman then F- Em. Freeman needs to look out for himself. He can’t do anything except make his situation worse by talking to the pen and mic club. Get a trade or get released or get free agency. Do the minimum for the coach and organization. I haven’t heard any of the players stepping out saying it was Freemans fault. They all seem to be living a similar kind of nightmare with that coach. Keep your mouth shut until something materializes. Let your agent be your goat! I know Joe is looking to deliver the juicey details of the coach/QB relationship gone bad, almost from day 1 but he should not take the bait. Let it all get worked out thru his agent and another team that may need his services. Zip it Free!

  96. White Tiger Says:

@tonytwocents – he is one of the coaches on the Bucs that could feasibly be considered an interim head coach.

From what I have seen – Schiano standing over Sully during in-game playcall decisions. Camera’s have isolated on this a couple of times this season. It’s hard to lay this at the feet of Sully – he had success with Eli in New York, remains someone Eli keeps in contact with…I’m no Sully fan, but he deserves to be listed in any potential interim coaching list – at least those comprised of NFL coaching experience.

As opposed to the former coach from Rutgers – whom I detest – and hope to see fired post haste.

There were two other much more viable options already on staff/payroll – but Sully would be considered, he was also rumored to have been asked to interview for an NFL head coaching opportunity – the team declined. I remembered this because the local fishwrappers went nutz when Gruden declined to let one of his coaches interview – yet they gave Schiano a bye.

It’s when I began to understand why the locals were defending “their” coach – he’s feeding them the inside information – making them look like they know what’s going in – in return – they write the stories the way the coach wants ’em written.

Not every local media outlet is this way – just the ones that have a lot to say in defense of a gutless, low-class, no character coach.

  97. tonytwocents Says:

    @ White Tiger

I never realized that we didnt let him interview. I always thought he was turned down. But it wouldnt surprise me. In 1-5 years, he’ll be a HC somewhere…. An NFL headcoach. Which Greg still isnt.

  98. White Tiger Says:

@tonytwocents – actually the way they got him to stay – Dom said they feared losing him during the interview process – as he had been targeted by several teams for interviews. As I recall, only the Bears did (seriously) interview him (for 6 hours)…my guess is, Sully ended up with a slightly fatter wallet…because Dom wanted someone with some history to do for Freeman and Glennon…what he’d done for Eli

  99. MadMax Says:

    Fire DOM!

Look at Bennett-who he FAILED to re-sign (and couldve signed his TE Bro too)
Look at Talib and Blount lighting it up in NE
Look at that unbelievably stupid move to sign Eric Wright

No wonder Ronde said he’s glad he retired….smdh

  100. MadMax Says:

This is the NFL….NOT FOR LONG!!!

Come on Glazers!!! This talent is only here for so long…..WISE the FK UP!!!

  101. PRBucFan Says:

Freeman blows, regardless of whether Schiano is the right coach for the job.

He’s history here, if you don’t like it.

Go root for Freeman when he’s taking another 5 years to blossom somewhere else.

  102. PRBucFan Says:

    P.S.

I told everyone here Talib was a star and would shine once he cleaned his act up and stayed healthy.

Wish he coulda done that here.

  103. MadMax Says:

    I remember PR….sad isnt it?

And I thought Blount couldve still been used….but NOOOOOO!!

  104. tonytwocents Says:

“Freeman would have won this game.”

Thats what really bugs me. He would absolutely have won this game. And it was Freeman’s/Schiano’s/the teams LAST CHANCE for a turnaround.

We would go into the bye with a positive taste in our mouths, and we could have gon on a little run. Like in 2012, after starting off 1-3, we went on to win 5 of our next 6??!!!

Schiano must be aware of this, so why pull Freeman a game early, from a game he would most likely win?? Something doesnt add up.

Schiano the Shyster is def trying to REBUILD this team right under our noses. First Freeman is gone. Then he’s gonna want to revamp the offense and bump his Rutgers buddy McNulty to OC.

Where McNulty as this years QB coach, has given us the worst QB performances in a 4 game stretch. He once mentioned, as a QB COACH “I mean, I’m not trying to teach the guy how to throw a ball. I try to stay away from altering a guy’s mechanics” Youre the QB COACH??? And youre not trying to improve your QBs mechanics??? Were you brought in here to sabotage Freeman??? Its an honest question!!

Lets fire this con artist lunatic, put in an interim, you all know I want Sully, but whoever, anyone but Schiano the Shyster. Our chances of winning this year are slim, but take out the head, and in FA, get a proven vet QB, WR/CB depth, that TE from WAS in the draft, and draft a shtload of o-linemen! And with all that, we’ll have a half dozen NFL ready coaches begging to take over this team. And we’ll go back to our “WIN NOW” mindset.

    _____________________________________________________________

Bennett didn’t want to play for Schiano, per JBF:

Bennett explained why he’s skeptical of New Schiano Order tactics and said he doesn’t believe it’s an ideal method for grown men

“The coaches are very different. You know, Coach Schiano is more hard-nosed, military-type guy. And Coach Carroll is so laid back, it gives the guys chances to not be on their back but still coach them at the same time,” Bennett said. “Because I think a lot of players, they’re adults, too, and when you treat them like kids they get offended by that. You know what I mean? Because players, you know, they got their mortgages, they got their kids, they got wives, they got family, they got things they can do.

“So they know it’s their job and they know when they make mistakes. But it’s a coach’s job to keep them honest, you know what I mean. But when a coach is just too much on them, I think the players rebel. Because, you know, they’re going to be like, ’Why is he on me like this? It’s my fifth year in the league. I know more than him.’ Guys are just like, you know, it just becomes a big conflict, I think.”

  106. MadMax Says:

    Thanks Tony…..understandable…..sadly smdh 🙁

  107. Patrick in VA Says:

Do we really have to keep dealing with this nonsense from a coach that doesn’t even win? this wasn’t even a good team that we lost to but we managed to out lose another team and on top of that we have to deal with this shady, secretive boob. It’s embarrassing enough that we’re losing easily winnable games but I can deal with that, i’m conditioned for that as a Bucs fan for years. This guy’s gotta go though. Schiano is not an NFL level coach. Classless, untalented and an embarrassing blemish on the record of a team that doesn’t have a particularly good history of having great coaches.

  108. tonytwocents Says:

He had to wait until he was a FA before he could speak up like he did. Just imagine what our guys still under contract wish they could say??

Anyways, Glazers: Hurry up and pick your Interim HC. Give him as much time this bye week to prepare for the Eagles and his new job!

I promised my 3 year old nephew today that I’m gonna take him to a game this year. If you keep Schiano the Shyster around, I’ll probably be the only one in the stadium while you buy up the rest of the house.

Cut him loose! Let Tampa move on!!!

  109. tonytwocents Says:

Watching Talib tonight, (I realize most of us wanted him gone), but here’s a good example of Schiano the Shyster’s double speak on the trade:

Schiano says Talib will be back; actually says “trust us”

Buccaneers trade Aqib Talib to Patriots for draft pick
By Gregg Rosenthal Published: Nov. 1, 2012 at 04:14 p.m

Like my dad always taught me, never trust a man that says “Trust Me”.

  110. Harry Says:

This is really getting embarrassing. From PFT:

    “…Great call, Greg Schiano.

Blount and Aqib Talib clearly couldn’t help the Buccaneers right now… Patriots coach Bill Belichick fleeced his pal on those two deals…”

So, what is he going to do with Free now? Maybe GIVE someone a draft pick to get Free off of the Bucs roster? I do believe this story from Free’s agent. Yes Free should shut up so he at least looks like a class act. But this does not excuse Shiano’s behavior. The guy is an a$$

  111. Travis Says:

When Schiano was hired his #1 job was too develop Josh Freeman. Sure he improved the d, but he has failed this team in its primary goal.

  112. Capt. Tim Says:

    PrBucFan,
Schiano is a wack job. He is creating a stew of lies, misdirected blame, and B.S.
Unlike most of us, you are still eating it up.
Josh struggled with that offense. If anyone was smart enough to listen to John Lynch- he point out numerous times last year- the defense knew our plays, and were waiting for our WRs. He also pointed out that we did not attack the middle of the field.
To improve this, admiral Wackado cut the only two guys who could attack the middle- Dallas Clarke and Underwood. And left us with nothing( Oglesby- who is less than nothing)
Josh Struggled. Glennon struggled. Terry Bradshaw or Joe Montana would struggle. The scheme sucks( as I’ve been telling you Zombies for weeks!!)

The scheme sucks, so Schiano mans up- and blames some else. And he’ll keep doing it, until he’s fired.

He will try to vilify anyone he can- to divert the blame from where it belongs

  113. PRBucFan Says:

    Blah blah blah

    Two words:

    Ancient history

Deal with it, and if you noticed I said “whether he’s the right coach for the job or not” implying that I’m not saying he is or that he isn’t.

Doesn’t change the fact the Freeman BLOWS, i’m so glad I don’t have to watch the Jekyll/Hyde act every Sunday.
