J.O.S.H. = Just Off Somebody’s Hands
September 28th, 2013Leave to the excellent Playbook crew and their NFL Network video team to document seven drops that victimized Josh Freeman in New England on Sunday.
Here’s the video. (Two drops not analyzed were ones Joe mentioned earlier by Doug Martin.) It’s former Pro Bowl center Shaun O’Hara who says he didn’t know that Josh stands for “just off somebody’s hands.
If the Bucs caught, say, four of those seven, Sunday’s scoreboard and Freeman’s stats likely look significantly different.
This could be great news for Bucs fans!
The offensive gurus of the New Schiano Order studied this film and determined Mike Glennon still gives the Bucs the best chance to win Sunday.
September 28th, 2013 at 2:04 pm
Greg Schiano will be out of the NFL long before Josh Freeman is.
September 28th, 2013 at 2:06 pm
Some of those were hard to catch…..eh, bye Freeman!
September 28th, 2013 at 2:06 pm
Doesn’t matter. They DID drop the passes which means something just isn’t clicking. The offense needed a spark. I really don’t see a drop off with Glennon the Freeman has started the season. He can make all the throws and if he gets the ball out to the open receiver it should open up the offense. We’ll see. The one thing I see with Glennon is he makes quicker decisions than Freeman, at least he did on the college level. Let’s see if that translates to the pro level.
September 28th, 2013 at 2:11 pm
Never seen so much drama over a 3rd string QB. Not to much longer now before Glennon makes everyone forget about what’s his face.
September 28th, 2013 at 2:11 pm
I was one of the biggest Freemanites, but the past is the past. And to all of you Marley fans, Josh gave us a farewell song:
Redemption Song by Josh Freeman
Ol Pirates(Buccaneers), yes they robbed I,
Sold I to the Cleveland Browns,
Minutes after they flew I,
to that sh!tty azz town(Cleveland).
But my arrrrm was made strong,
By the hand of the Almighty,
I’ll play my best till the end of regulation,
Then smoke a lot of weeed.
Wont you help me die,
Or get me out of Cleveland,
Cause all I ever have,
Are losing seasons.
Redemption Song.
(sorry Free. prove this fake azz HC wrong next year! peace brotha!)

“The offensive gurus of the New Schiano Order studied this film and determined Mike Glennon still gives the Bucs the best chance to win Sunday.”
—————————————————————————————
I think so too, and think Mike Glennon will soon make us Tampa Bay Buccaneer Fans forget all about Josh Freeman.
That IS, if they allow him to be a real QB, vs the game manager that was talked about.
I think Glennon is much more accurate, and has more touch on the ball then Freeman.
VJax and Mike Williams will think they have died, and went to heaven, with Glennon throwing to them.
September 28th, 2013 at 2:19 pm
Wasn’t too long ago the Joes on this site were telling Buccaneers fans to stop talking about the drops in the game as being significant factors.
You are absolutely correct. They are not significant factors when looking at the entire picture of the quality of Josh Freeman’s current stats over three games versus the rest of the NFL. Joe also has been very consistent saying that Freeman gave the Bucs the best chance to win this year. -Joe
September 28th, 2013 at 2:30 pm
Can’t wait to see the new era of Buc Ball tomorrow.
We have ridded ourselves of all the dog sh!t!
Go Bucs!
September 28th, 2013 at 2:34 pm
the worst thing about that video wasnt the drops, it was how the offensive played, how our best guards nicks and joseph got pushed around which should be a concern for glennon. even on that touchdown drop by tim wright…doug martin got knocked off his feet twice on that one play, all that fuss over who the third down back would be and they wont use em…
September 28th, 2013 at 2:35 pm
Again? We all know the real reason Free is out is “the elephant in the room.” You were afforded the opportunity to talk about the elephant and passed. In fact, when asked why you didn’t query Schiano on the topic you replied it would be a waste of time as Schiano can’t talk about it.
Now you throw up some BS like the coaches can’t watch tape. Pathetic, low class attack on Schiano. Does BD have to approve your posts to make sure they are anti-Schiano?
September 28th, 2013 at 2:36 pm
Blame Schiano all you want, time will tell, but to me Freeman just looks like he wasn’t up for the task of “manning up”.
I can’t wait to hear his interview tomorrow, you all will see what a BABY he is.
It falls on the Bucs for not developing Freeman, absolutely, but more so on Freeman for BABYING his way out of Tampa.
He’d rather run to the media, whine and get traded, then look Schiano and the other 52 Bucs in the eyes and tell them “It starts with me.”.
I just can’t believe this is the same kid from 2010. Something is definitely up with this situation, and I can’t wait to hear where it all really went wrong.
Blame the hardass coach all you want, but at the end of the day our 1st round QB was a BUST.
September 28th, 2013 at 2:37 pm
buc4lyfe,
The entire offense played like crap because of the main compenent mentally checking out.
Wait and see a new team this weekend. The intensity and discipline should be back, no looking back.
“It’s all about 5.”- Not any more ROCKSTAR!
September 28th, 2013 at 2:38 pm
These people make it sound as if the former QB was in any way great until this last game and got replaced because of a few drops… The guy was a disappointment backed by several seasons of mediocre play…
It has been SO long since the Bucs have beaten a quality team that was needing the win… HC has been changed and better players have been brought in all the while getting the same results… It was time (should have been done at the beginning of the season) to change QBs…
As for “good ole” #5 it is like the Bucs are treating him like it is closing time at the bar telling him, “You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here!” lol
September 28th, 2013 at 2:40 pm
Hopefully Glennon can think better on his feet than Freeman…Josh seemed to have a play in mind and not waiver from it. He didn’t seem to be able to adjust. The one thing most elite QBs have in common is smarts….I think Glennon brings that. Because of his mobility problems, hopefully he will have someone to checkdown to…..we desperately need to get the second RB/FB, TE & 3rd reciever in the game.
September 28th, 2013 at 2:42 pm
Eric Decker from Denver and Aaron Dobson from New England are tied for 2nd in the league with Dynamite Doug for dropped passes, but somehow Manning and Brady still keep winning. Re-mark-a-ble….
September 28th, 2013 at 2:44 pm
MY GOODNESS TALK ABOUT HATERS…..
FORGET FREEMAN, THAT VIDEO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH FREEMAN TAKE HIM OUT OF THE EQUATION AND SAY THAT WAS GLENNON THROWING DIMES RIGHT ON THE MONEY AND BEING DROPPED OR DOUG MARTIN GETTING BLASTED IN PASS PROTECTION OR HIS OFFENSIVE LINE GETTING PUSHED AROUND…IDIOT TOM BRADY AND PEYTON MANNING ARE THE BEST IN THE GAME BUT ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE PEYTON OR BRADY WON A SUPERBOWL BUT I’LL DEFER TO THE FOREMOST EXPERTS OF BLIND FAITH…YOU TALK AS IF YOUR ALL RELATED TO SCHIANO AND GLENNON LOL SO WHAT IF FREEMAN CHECKED OUT MENTALLY HE THREW THE BALL ON THE MONEY.
THE 10 OTHER GUYS STILL PLAY FOR US
September 28th, 2013 at 2:47 pm
Progrees thru your reads, command the huddle, thrlow the ball accurately, give the team a foundation of CONSISTENT QB play.
September 28th, 2013 at 2:52 pm
The Perfect trade.
Josh Freeman for Jared Allen.
We get a great DE who is overpriced. So Minnesota can clear up cap space and they get a decent NFL QB for Adrian Peterson to play with.
And we get the final piece to a Super Bowl quality defense.
Then, all we need is another CB who can play man to man.

And look!!
its the final year of his contract!!!
We need JARED ALLEN!!!
SPREAD THE WORD BUCS FANS!!!
September 28th, 2013 at 3:20 pm
Freeman for Allen would be SICK!
September 28th, 2013 at 3:22 pm
I don’t really like the move at QB, but it makes sense for Schiano/Dom who are trying to cover their collective a$$e$. However, I do think Glennon may provide the spark this Bucs’ offense needs. He seemed to have developed a rapport with Ogletree in the preseason and the emergence of a third receiving threat could put this offense over the top. Glennon also seems to have the ability to throw a checkdown pass, something I have yet to see in Freeman’s game.
If Glennon can move the offense and spread the ball around just enough to take some pressure off of the run game, then I envision a possible reemergence of the top 10 offense.
September 28th, 2013 at 3:24 pm
Hmm. I watched that segment. They weren’t talking about Josh. They were talking about the failure of the Buc Offense.
And they showed a back stage clip of them discussing Glennon.
” would you say he is a poor mans Joe Flacco?”
Laughing
” a very, very poor man!!”
More laughter
“Meybe homeless”
As usual, the zombies have missed their target. But, that’s why they are Zombies!
Read thru his progressions?? Clueless
He’s his progressions 1) Jackson is double covered.2) Williams is double covered. 3) talentless hack excuse for a TE is laying on ground. 4) hack excuse for a slot Reciever is open- but CAN NOT CATCH. 5) throw to Martim. He drops it. Has dropped everything so far!
Yeah, great thinking Zombies.
Good luck statue boy. Darnell docket has seen your film, and hasn’t been able to stop drooling ever since.
Why are our highly touted guards playing like cheer leaders. Joseph in particular has been shoved around all season like a lil bitch. Martin musta soaked his hands in plaster of Paris all off season.
But none of that is the biggest issue. The biggest issue is that we have 2 receiving options, and a couple of talentless scrubs.
And the defense knows exactly where they are going every play.
Good luck Beaker
September 28th, 2013 at 3:25 pm
@ZAM
thats your problem after all these years you still dont know football is a team sport unless your the only one that saw brady take the snap under center and transform into two black men and run all over our defense or if you saw him laying wood on doug martin as a linebacker
September 28th, 2013 at 3:32 pm
Capt. Tim,
Thank Freeman and Dominick for putting this team into a strong place, in their 5 years together.
You are right, unless Glennon is surprisingly good, the rebuild continues.
Rock Star GM? HA.
September 28th, 2013 at 3:38 pm
“This could be great news for Bucs fans!
The offensive gurus of the New Schiano Order studied this film and determined Mike Glennon still gives the Bucs the best chance to win Sunday.”
That may be the case Joe, or it could also be that Schiano and his staff pushed all the blame and accountability of our offense’s ineptness on one person to clean their hands. Putting a rookie project QB into action buys all of them time and makes them somewhat less accountable to success/failure of this season. You have to admit, this may also be the case which I hope not. My trust on Schiano as of now is extremely low and only efficient QBing by Glennon can prove that they are about giving Bucs the best chance to win.
September 28th, 2013 at 3:54 pm
@Capt. Tim…..Look, if you think Glennon is going to be a step down from Freeman I don’t see how. When I look at Freeman’s college highlights and compare them to Glennon’s I see a far more consistent passer in Glennon who can still make all the throws Freeman did but with seemingly more accuracy. Now, he hasn’t done it on an NFL level but I see no reason he can’t after looking at his college tape. Maybe he won’t…I don’t know but to act like this kid has no chance is just silly. Anybody who threw like he did in college can certainly do the same in the NFL. He has all the tools and the intelligence. I hope he succeeds. You are one piss poor Bucs fan Capt. Things don’t go the way you want them too and you have to trash Glennon to make yourself appear justified in preferring Freeman. I wanted Freeman to succeed too but he didn’t. It’s time to move on and Glennon is the Bucs QB. I see no reason any true Bucs fan would not support him.
September 28th, 2013 at 3:56 pm
Not all of the drops have been entirely catchable passes. Some of them were way off the mark and serious effort from Jackson allowed him to get a hand on them. Some of them were thrown into absurdly tight coverage.
And yes, a few of them were on the WR’s. Trying to paint the picture that Freeman’s struggles are all on the wide outs is insane.
September 28th, 2013 at 3:59 pm
Just get the W
September 28th, 2013 at 4:05 pm
Wow. You people cant let it go. Freeman’s gone d-bags!
Lets focus on the team we have now and our HC with 10 losing seasons in less than 2 years…(according to his twisted logic. at least Chucky broke his season up into quarters.)
September 28th, 2013 at 4:06 pm
I would like to see teachermans777 idea come to pass. Since we have Clayborne on one end and zero talent on the other end it would be nice to get clayborne some help. Plus the vikings need a QB…maybe worse than we do.
September 28th, 2013 at 4:06 pm
excuse me…..12 losing seasons.
September 28th, 2013 at 4:07 pm
@teacherman
I wouldnt mind that, but I thought I read that Allen’s contract is around $14mill. I could be wrong though.
September 28th, 2013 at 4:33 pm
Jared Allen and the mullet to Tampa for Freeman and Bowers.
Lets do this!
September 28th, 2013 at 4:34 pm
^Maybe they can throw in Carlson?

I think you guys should see this.
September 28th, 2013 at 4:49 pm
Yes!!
I like the positivity.
Allen’s contract is HUGE.
Maybe 14.
But u know what?
We can still afford it!
September 28th, 2013 at 4:49 pm
Just in case some of you guys didn’t click the link in Joe’s article.
September 28th, 2013 at 4:53 pm
If the Billion Dollar Bros. didnt want to shell out extra cash for a starting TE & 3rd WR, a starting DE, after the Revis n Goldson signing, I doubt they would pay that extra few mill for Allen during what looks like a waste of a season.
Keep the cash, it’ll come in handy resigning our young talent and the new coaching staff. And we’ll still be players in FA, especially finding a Top 10 QB with what would have been Free’s contract $$$$.
September 28th, 2013 at 4:56 pm
Bobby,
Um, did you see the preseason game he started?
Or his college career. Don’t believe the BS spin doctoring Schiano is trying to feed you. Glennon almost has the arm his predecessor did. But none of his mobility. Glennon was a surprise pick in the Third round. Most considered him a 4th rounder. You’ll see why tomorrow.
His predecessor requested a trade this Summer. Schiano is a di*k to work with. Plus what kind of idiot takes a great running QB- and tries to make him some 80’s throwback pocket passer. Do you want to know why no one drafts pocket passers now- you will tomorrow!!
Our offense is pathetic- no TEs, no Slot Reciever. – that’s two positions that caught over a thousand yards last year! Our idiot coach cuts those guys- and replaces them with no one!! Stupidest G D coaching I’ve been a witness to in these teams history!!! We don’t emphasizes the TE????????? We line up one or Two every single play. We try to throw to them- but they suck Soooo G D bad that these Rutgers rejects can’t catch
Just watch tomorrow. You’ll figure it out
September 28th, 2013 at 4:58 pm
@Patrick,
yeah, for a sec, I thought you might have missed that link in the article.
but that link the other day?? I bookmarked that sht! even though I nevr read that website… making us pay extra $$ for “the insider scoop” (if theyre still doing that). fucc outta here.
September 28th, 2013 at 5:03 pm
@ Capt.
I want to see him do well. But we dont have a 3 second o-line… They’re more like a 1.5 second line.
And the bottom line, he’s never experienced the true game speed of an NFL Sunday.
September 28th, 2013 at 5:09 pm
@Tony Two Cents
You’re dreaming if you think the Bucs can sign any FA’s without over-paying.
September 28th, 2013 at 5:24 pm
Freeman is mobile? Not since 2010.. For whatever reason he lost that ability somewhere down the road.
I’m not thrilled about Glennon, especially with the depth that is forecasted in the next draft but we never know. We picked him at 3rd round, we need to see what he can bring to the table
Jared for Freeman? Yes. Jared for Freeman+bowers? No. Still too soon to assess Bowers talent. The problem with the abusive stunts they do is that it´s hard to evaluate the real impact and the progress of a dl because it’s not about beating your man on every single play. It’s about creating opportunities for the rush lanes to open up and for our lb to roam in the box.. I won’t give up on him yet
September 28th, 2013 at 5:34 pm
@Patrick
Nice Link.
I think Josh is a supreme athlete with a cannon arm.
But he’s immature, lazy, and parties too much.
If he can get focused likeTom Brady, then Josh could be an All-Pro.
But he is a spoiled diva. So, we gotta trade him.
September 28th, 2013 at 5:36 pm
Well with Allens contract apparently at $14mill in ’13, and Free’s at $8mill, (correct me if I’m wrong), but I dont see the logic in dropping that extra $6mill for what is starting to look like a crapshoot season.. a longshot to get to the playoffs.
And to all of the Dom haters, we will have PLENTY of cash to work with next year, even AFTER we take care of our young guys’ contract. I’d love it if some one or Joe could give us the figures.
And Couch, with the right coach, and our current players, we could easily lure a big time QB and some receivers without overpaying. We’d be ready for the postseason by 2014. But the only thing that stands in the way, isnt Greg Schiano…………..but Greg Schiano’s Ego. Cut that relic loose!
September 28th, 2013 at 5:45 pm
Tony Two Cents
I like your thinking. We should meet so I can sniff your jockstrap. 🙂
September 28th, 2013 at 5:49 pm
I dont know couch. I stay strapped and our hate runs deep…… dont wanna make the 11 oclock news. so we should keep it digital. 😉
September 28th, 2013 at 5:52 pm
@Capt. Tim…..
You’re right….we’ll see tomorrow but I’m hardly going to write him off if he has a bad game. If after 5-6 games he isn’t up to speed then we can start to talk about draft but I think Glennon is going to be a surprise. I didn’t listen to Schiano’s spin, I went and watched as much of his tape as I could and this kid impressed me more than Freeman’s tape did. No contest. Glennon is very accurate and he is not afraid to pull the trigger quickly. I think that will serve him well as a pocket passer. Funny how all the best QB’s in the league are still pocket passers. Manning, Brady, Brees, Stafford, Ryan, etc. none of them are mobile. Even Luck is pretty much a pocket passer, though he can run if he needs to. The NFL has not evolved to the point where the running QB is the next big thing. Especially when RGIII is showing that it’s a short career unless you’re durable. Only Seattle is winning with the so called ‘running QB’. Washington, Carolina, San Fran, etc. are starting to have less success as defenses figure out how to take away the running option. Meanwhile, the ‘slow immobile QB’s” like Manning, Romo, Brees, Brady, Ryan and others seem to do just fine. If Glennon can make good decisions and get the ball out quickly I think he’ll be franchise material.
September 28th, 2013 at 5:53 pm
Yeah, they’ll probably win this Sunday’s LOSERBOWL at home.. Big Deal.. Oh yeah, I wanna thank my Dad for making me a Bucs fan at age 5… Except for 4 years of greatness it’s been 30+ years of shame, disappointment and agony! Were all just some weird, remote control breaking, gluttons for punishment. From DeBerg, Young, Vinny, Chandler, Erickson, Dilfer, Sims, Garcia to Freeman, just another chapter in the historic saga of the MOST dysfunctional franchise in football. But boy, those 4-5 years of being a contender and a winner were GLORIOUS!!
September 28th, 2013 at 5:55 pm
Let’s send this wannabe tough guy punk BACK TO JERSEY!!!

I’ll show you respect on JBF, but when you want to throw in a jab here and there, make it personal, I’ll ruin you.
September 28th, 2013 at 6:45 pm
Tony Tootoo, are you having fun using my screen name and having a conversation with yourself? LMAO to funny… you can’t have a debate with another person but dam you sound intelligent (sort of) talking to yourself.
September 28th, 2013 at 7:16 pm
A couple of missed Fgs cost is the games…and yes the catchs bein dropped and penalties did not help at all…Freeman has the same numbers this year as the first three games of last year before he caught fire…then the o line fell apart…schiano wants Glennon to start against the cards cause the pass d of the cards allows 300 plus yards from opposing qbs…I am not sayin Glennon is bad…but he was not that good in college…he was ranked very low with a raw qbr below 50%…what upsets me is schiano…he was a snake to free…and honestly with his lies that he said…I don’t believe anything he says…I want the bucs to win…but not giving ur qb till the bye..and benching him is a sign the season is over…and for ppl that understand the cap…the bucs will not be in good shape in a couple years…but we don’t have to worry bout that we spent all the money for crap coaching…coach needs to change..especially if we want the veterans to stay..
September 28th, 2013 at 7:46 pm
Don’t believe any of the spin doctoring.
Freeman wanted out. Wanted out over the Summer.
If you believe a rookie, who has never taken a snap, and sucked in preseason, is our best chance to win? Then we don’t have much of a chance. This was a fight between a QB and a QB- on how to win in this league.
One believed a mobile QB, great WRs, TE, and pass recieving RBs are the trick.
That person has won 10 games in one season, and is the teams all time leader In most offensive passing categories.
The other one is a dictator, who has a losing record at some irrelevant tiny college in Jersey. Has a losing record in NFL. He believes we have an immobile, pocket passing QB. Two WRs. A TE who blocks only. No 3 Reciever sets. Backs run the ball, and block. They rarely factor in the pass offense.
In other words. We become the 1070 Pittsburgh Steelers.
I loved that team. But this is an entirely different NFL. It’s pass first, run later. It’s driven by mobile, strong armed QBs, with multiple Reciever attacks.
This QB change was a desperate act, once it became apparent that the two would never meet philosophically. A rookie with no starts isn’t a good move. But you have to, when you QB refuses to compromise.
Team sucked. Now it’s worse. They are trying to Spin Josh into an evil villain.
True is- he refused to play in this stupid Neanderthal offense.
Spin away boys. Who ya gonna blame now?
September 28th, 2013 at 7:55 pm
All the penalties. All the miscommunication. All the bad alignments. Etc. Are a sign of piss poor coaching.
Can’t blame da lil emperor for trying to divert guilt and blame.
And he’s proven that he’ll stab anyone in the back- and run the bus over them.
He’s got, as my ancestors used to say, “a forked tongue”
and Dom has to hang beside him for this mess. Damned if I want him drafting our NEXT franchise QB
Feels like we are already in the the Chinese”Hell of eternal rebuilds”
September 28th, 2013 at 8:13 pm
Dom and Schiano have trapped us in the Chinese “Hell of constant Rebuilding”
Walterfootball has us picking 2nd.
Really gonna miss that 3rd round pick.
No need to have the leagues best defender, when we don’t know how to use him, and we have the leagues worst QB.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:18 pm
Maybe if Josh didn’t stare down his target so bad, his receivers might not have the safety and corner on them when he throws the ball and they can make a play? That wasn’t in the video.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:43 pm
I am not going to judge Glennon until after the game tomorrow. Freeman had 4+ years to prove himself and he never got any better. If you look at most the drops, the receivers had to give everything they had to make the catch. A QB in his 5th year should know where to put the ball to make it easier for the receiver to catch.
Why isn’t anyone talking about the throws where the receiver was wide open (many times) and he threw the ball over their heads or at their feet. Has everybody not watched Freeman the last 4 years.
Every time he dropped back to pass I would always say , another interception is coming.
Remember the 1 yard dump off passes to a running back that was 9 yards away from the first down.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:06 pm
TEBOW
September 28th, 2013 at 10:23 pm
Capt Timmy-
So josh freeman in his contract year played poorly because he wants out of the same offense he set club records in? Maybe the missing football camp and team picture is more of what’s the problem than your made up thoughts.
