“Certainly Something Significant” Wrong

Gabe Carimi started at left guard for the Bucs in the opening two games, but he’s sort of disappeared for nearly two weeks with an undisclosed illness.
“He’s been out all this time. So it’s not something, it’s certainly something significant,” Schiano said today. “But other than that I can’t go into more.”
Is it MRSA-related? Schiano was asked. “No,” replied the head coach.
There are rules — written and unwritten — that prevent teams from revealing non-football issues that keep players off the field.
Joe can only hope Carimi isn’t in a life-threatening physical or mental condition.

If you reporters studied Schiano’s responses, you might b able to get him to answer through careful questioning.
If the answer is NO, he will say no.
If the answer is YES, he will evade the question.
Next Monday, ask him if Carimi’s injury is related to his knee.

Wishing Carimi a speedy recovery but I can’t help but think that this is something very serious.

Bucfan- Likewise… Sears was a sad case. Would’ve been one of the best guards in the league.. Interesting story though.. A good friend of mine works at a mental care facility and they won’t treat Sears there because their staff is not equipped to handle his outbursts with his massive size.

Gabe Carimi refused to report to camp because the Bears wanted him to play guard. He has come to the Bucs and my way or the highway Schiano is again forcing Carimi to play guard. Carimi is no wimp like Freeman and he is resisting. Schiano does not want to draw attention to this issue since he is under fire for so many bonehead moves that he prefers to say nothing. Sooner or later everybody is going to see what is happening in this locker room. Remember you heard it here first.

Splengo- His college O-line coach is here, so I highly doubt it. And I’d love to be paid millions to play a bit out of position. He’s actually the G/T swingman. If Dotson or Penn went down, he’d play T, but since it was Nicks, he was playing G as they felt more comfortable with him than Larsen.

Ok. Let’s hear from the biggest and the brightest of the mobber nation. What do you think it is? Any other coach in the NFL would say, however vague, that it is this or that. What is Schiano hiding? He said it wasn’t MRSA related. Then what is it coach? This guy is a jerk of the highest order and the media is not going to let him forget it. When did truth and honesty get to be a problem? Get real people!

You hit it on the head and if it is related to an illness, then it falls under the privacy act and the Buc organization can not discuss it in any manner.

anybody looking for an NFL team or coach for detailed and truthful responses is living in fantasy land. anybody who gets ticked off with teams or coaches for being vague or misdirecting people with their answers should be prepared to be ticked off for as long as they follow the NFL or any pro sport.

Actually it’s HIPAA – Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 makes it illegal to share private health information of an employee, patient, etc. without their expressed written permission. If it’s not football related the Bucs are legally prohibited from talking about the injury. If the player takes it public (like Tynes did) then it’s OK, but they can’t say anything.

a little off topic, but with the new tight-lipped Belicheck copycat coaching tactics, have you ever considered giving anonymous insiders a way to post a little insider knowledge on your website?? good or bad??
you’d get total trust from other players that you wouldnt “out” them, and itd give us fans the only thing we really want, the truth. Im sure the heads at OBP wouldnt like that, but F em, your website status would blow up…. Just look at Schefters success with his insider knowledge and sources… just a thought.

My sources tell me that VJax is sick of all the BS, and that’s why he hasn’t done any interviews recently because there are a couple members of the press corp. he’d like to smash in the mouth, so it’s just better to stay away until it goes away, which at this point he thinks this is normal since he’s been here. He also said that if things look like they’re going to implode at the end of the season he may request a ticket out of town or hold out for more money. Either way he’s tired of the circus and drama for what was supposed to be a new, and fresh start away from San Diego.

What you said makes perfectly good sense. My point is why couldn’t Schiano politely say – “it is a matter of a personal nature not football related and as such I’m not allowed to talk about it”.

Hopefully Carimi is okay. I think the Bucs just need to let Freeman go too. Free up a roster spot. I hope his dad calls Dom over the weekend and says to Dom: Let my Freeman go. I hope they will let him go soon too. Maybe Monday or Tuesday please. Oh and Free..

Carimi is Italian, and the real problem is, Tampa is a real wasteland, for good Italian food.
Remember, he came here from Chicago, where great Italian Food and Pizza is as common as tourists who can’t drive in Tampa are.
The Man is simply starving himself to death here, and Schiano ( a fellow Italian) refuses to invite him over for dinner, cause he is such a Prick!
