Mike Williams & Vincent Jackson Rested Again
September 26th, 2013The Bucs’ big-gun receivers are banged up. Mike Williams and Vincent Jackson haven’t practiced this week.
That’s not good news for Mike Glennon, but there’s always tomorrow’s practice, or they could play a little catch on their Saturday free time if Jackson and Williams are up for it.
Jackson has a rib issue and Williams has hamstring trouble. Greg Schiano said wide receivers Kevin Ogltree, Eric Page and rookie Russell Shepard were practicing as replacements.
Joe’s got his fingers crossed that Williams and Jackson can go Sunday.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:10 pm
That would be dominating (if they were playing our secondary from last year).
September 26th, 2013 at 3:19 pm
One of them is going to play. Otherwise we would have signed a WR or moved someone up from the PS. I don’t see them going into a game with only 3 active WRs.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:20 pm
Ha ha great pic that’s obviously a football thrown by the newly benched QB. No where near the numbers as usual.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:21 pm
Better to rest them now and have them on Sunday then to not have them. I think anyone would agree with that.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:26 pm
So BD just said he knows why Free was benched “factually”. So if he’s not BSing, I guess Free couldnt break up with the “white girl”.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:27 pm
Somehow, whatever goes wrong on Sunday, will be Freeman’s fault – again.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:30 pm
russell shepard? going into the offseason everyone thought wide reciever was our deepest position but after getting rid of all the veterans….it looks ugly, great job schiano and dominick
michael bennett had nothing nice to say about this guy, kellen winslow but who cares although it’s obvious his skills havent deteriorated and i cant think of anyone that likes the guy, have a season into his rookie coaching career he’s voted most hated coach….even the refs took out the time to rip into schiano, glennon yea your gonna be set up to fail too because when his job comes into question all he’s gonna say is give me more time i had this rookie to deal with, lets see if he throws his own guy under the bus
September 26th, 2013 at 3:36 pm
Mak,
I can’t listen at work. Can you clarify?

or Sully’s.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:38 pm
Indeed lets hope both can play, if not, Glennon will have a long day since there is rather a steep drop off in talent behind them and whose fault is that.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:38 pm
@oil, the BD basically said the reason he was given for Free’s benching was “factual”. and yesterday, he basically implyed that Free might have a substance abuse prob.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:49 pm
Get ready for the (soon to be) legendary Glennon to Ogletree combination!
Yes I had a hard time not laughing writing that.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:51 pm
I’ve been wondering about these guys and their status for Sunday. I guess due to the Freeman issue, their health has been kind of swept under the rug. If they don’t play, I don’t care who our QB is, we are going to struggle. We have nothing behind them. Problem is, if Jackson doesn’t play, Patrick Peterson is going to completely eliminate Mike Williams. Our defense better step up big time (and maybe even our special teams).
September 26th, 2013 at 4:03 pm
I’m getting sick of Schi saying “it is what it is”. thats like saying “hate it or love it, f u!”
he said this regarding the WR situation.
September 26th, 2013 at 4:13 pm
This article just reinforced how scary the WR position is behind Jackson and Williams. I would think one, of not both of them will play. I suspect a heavy dose of Doug Martin on Sunday regardless.
September 26th, 2013 at 4:16 pm
Underwood is out there, Preston Parker is out there! what do we have to lose?? except for the season and our HC??
Underwood and Parker totaled 1000 in their last stints with the Bucs…
September 26th, 2013 at 4:32 pm
Schiano said Glennon may well be practicing with the starters for Sunday so far as WRs.
September 26th, 2013 at 4:34 pm
@JOE
Can you give an update on Owuso??? What happened to the kid that was doing so good in the summer and then completely disappeared
September 26th, 2013 at 4:49 pm
No pressure kid. Just stop our losing streak with no receivers and coach madman.
Whew what a tough spot.

as soon as you wrote that, I just sensed the largest and longest gulp ever…. (sorry Glennon, but your neck is legendary!)
September 26th, 2013 at 6:13 pm
That’s actually good news! The Guy has been practicing with guys he has been throwing to all off season and might be doing the same on Sunday
(How many losses will it take before ownership can’t stomach SCHIANO’s Mismanagement of the nearly $100 Million they’ve laid out in Free Agent Booty)
September 26th, 2013 at 6:54 pm
I’m gonna be the first to predict 0-16.
September 26th, 2013 at 7:59 pm
Eric- you’d be the Second!
Gotta feel for poor Beaker. No TE or slot Reciever- to throw to if they blitz. A Wr they won’t cover, cause he can’t catch( Oglesby), an inexperienced WR. A rookie.
And the 3rd ranked rush defense in the league
He better pray Jackson AND Williams play. Otherwise we’ll be seeing Dan- O by the second quarter. Beaker ain’t built for the NFL
September 26th, 2013 at 8:09 pm
We’re not going 0-16. I don’t care if Capt. Tim is the QB and Eric is our #1 WR, with me at TE. Not going to happen. We aren’t Jacksonville bad.
September 26th, 2013 at 8:13 pm
Trade Josh Freeman for Josh Gordon, from Cleveland, straight up.
September 26th, 2013 at 8:14 pm
I’ll never want us to lose, but I predict we’ll win just enough games to not fire Schiano, and also just enough to not get a premium pick. 0-16 would guarantee a new coach and whatever QB we want (with some good QB’s coming out this year). That seems to never happen to us. We always seem to be one pick too good from the guy we really want.
September 26th, 2013 at 8:16 pm
They said Freeman is the #2 QB.
That’s a really bad idea.
Picture this
Glennon starts. Struggles, throws a couple pick 6s.
Then gets hurt.
Enter Freeman( amid boos and hisses). Leads the team from behind. Wins the game! Turns and shoots Schiano a double bird.
Then what do they do?
They should trade or cut Freeman now. It’s been over here. No need to risk any scenario like that one!
September 26th, 2013 at 8:17 pm
I’d be the 1st that predicts Eric tastes his first cocck before we ever go 0-16.
the hell kind of fan are you?? we all know sht is dire! but why pile on??
September 26th, 2013 at 8:30 pm
@Capt. Tim,
They are trying to trade Freeman. Not sure if you saw the reports, but they were trying to trade him in the offseason too. No takers. They are saying the best case scenario right now is a 6th rounder, but if someone gets hurt on a contender, it could be a much higher pick. Again, nobody is going to take on his salary (most don’t even have the cap room if they wanted to). You can’t ignore the finance part of the situation. And no we cannot pay his salary if we trade him.
September 26th, 2013 at 8:34 pm
@Capt. Tim,
If that scenario happens, it would be better than anything that has happened so far this season, because it means we would have actually won a game. I don’t care if they get into a fist fight at midfield.
September 26th, 2013 at 8:42 pm
bucfanjeff and makavelidon, why don’t you both take turns sucking off freeman.
September 26th, 2013 at 9:13 pm
I saw an article saying that teams were inquiring about him this Summer, but the Bucs didn’t want to deal.
September 26th, 2013 at 9:58 pm
@Capt. Tim,
Not sure where you saw that, but from everything I’ve been reading over the last few days (from reliable NFL sources), that’s not true. There was also an article on Pro Football Talk about it yesterday, saying we wanted too much.

Brett Favre
September 27th, 2013 at 6:37 am
Lets see if the new, non-mobile, inexperienced, rookie QB gets a stripped down version of the offense – if the coordinator(s) (I call them legion, for they are many) will force the new QB to run plays that don’t make sense? I’d like to see if he/they can adapt Glennon’s game to take advantage of a large weakness of the team? That offensive line they built for a running QB – just before deploying two (ok, mostly one) immobile statues?
I mean, it probably won’t matter anyway, Carl Nicks’ severe/chronic turf toe pretty much takes him out of the line up Monday thru Friday – on a bright note, they didn’t they didn’t have to throw out Kellen Winslow’s practice schedule…
I haven’t even gotten to the receivers (I’m not sure our remaining talent at that position can adequately be called a “receiver” – because I think the minimum requirement is THAT YOU CATCH THE BALL!?
But I’ll be here – and watching – gee it sure would be nice to be wrong every ONCE in a while….
Who cares what these princesses think?
September 27th, 2013 at 6:57 am
If Jackson and Williams don’t play. This will be the worst set up for a rookie QB to enter the league. This speaks volumes about the lack of depth on this team. Beaker will be running for his life Sunday, getting sacked, throwing picks or just a lot of 3 and outs. The Bucs will again make a bad team look good.
September 27th, 2013 at 7:14 am
@GRIF4FREESUX,
you can suck your mothers fat cocck. and what the hell does your username mean?? are you dyslexic?? or just another plant city hick with a imited vocab. after yu suck your mothers cocck, go and fucc your grand fathers dead corpse you blanco trash son of a fat coccked mother.
September 27th, 2013 at 7:15 am
Unless they’ve had handles sewn into the footballs, msrs Jackson and Williams best be keepin’ they mouth shut.
‘cuz the only thing about blaming the other guy (when you’re stabbing him in the back) for your drops…is when they bench the other guy…you better not still be takin’ plays off…
September 27th, 2013 at 7:18 am
Vincent Jackson knows a thing or two about this kind of stuff…I think one of his knives is still wedged between a couple of Drew Brees’ ribs…
…I’m sure Vincent will make a miraculous recovery, as will Brer Williams…
