Mike Glennon Speaks
September 25th, 2013A confident, t-shirt clad Mike Glennon took to the podium at One Buc Palace today and declared that he’s well versed in the Bucs offense and ready to command the huddle.
Glennon said all the right things. He also said Josh Freeman has been very supportive of him and Freeman wished him, “Congrats” just after learning of the quarterback change.
Glennon also pointed out that he’s been running a pro-style offense since he was 18-years-old at North Carolina State, rare experience in the spread offense world of college football.
Also, Glennon stated he believes he got more reps in preseason than any other rookie QB.
So, per Glennon, his comfort level and readiness is advanced and will not slow him down. (Enjoy the full Glennon press conference below, via 620wdae.com)

Blah blah blah, enjoy your 13 starts in the NFL.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:08 pm
Walt called us “haters” for not supporting the starting QB. Guess it takes a hater to know one.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:08 pm
walt owes me money LOL
September 25th, 2013 at 4:09 pm
Come on we need a W
September 25th, 2013 at 4:09 pm
Just remember I switched from calling fans Freeman haters to Freeman doubters.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:10 pm
Now, all he needs to put together is a 13 win run and my season prediction will be correct. Go Mike!
September 25th, 2013 at 4:10 pm
@lightningbuc
Oh, I definitely hate the idea of watching us lose almost every game this year, that’s for sure.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:10 pm
Bring us a win stork- boy.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:10 pm
this guy is ready. no ??? marks in every answer he gives.
free…ummmmm, think for 10 seconds….ummmmmm answer the question with a psst, and question mark in his tone.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:11 pm
More reps in preseason!
This thing becomes a bigger joke every day.
Build a team around the guy, bring in nobody with a shred of NFL experience to come in if he fails, then give it to a rookie.
This is the shape were in for the fifth year of the rebuild? The lasting contenders rebuild? Run by the draft guru?
Are you kidding me?
September 25th, 2013 at 4:11 pm
he shows confidence. something this team needs!
September 25th, 2013 at 4:15 pm
The Bucs, one again the punch line of the NFL, with the NFL’s first human-ostrich hybrid starting quarterback. Watch out NFC South!! Haha
Seriously though, if Dominick or Schiano make it to next season I’ll be surprised.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:15 pm
Lead us to victory rook. Just win and the freemanites will forget all about FreeWee. GO BUCS!!
September 25th, 2013 at 4:17 pm
He looks like Big Bird.
Under his helmet, he has a weak little chin.
He sucked at the Senior Bowl.
He sucked in the preseason.
He does however have a very quick mind, strong, arm, and ideal height.
He looks down the field well. He made a few good pocket slides in the preseason.
He seems almost as nimble as Peyton Manning.
I hope Mike can succeed for us.
If not?
0-16 and we draft Clowney!
September 25th, 2013 at 4:19 pm
I don’t know, after watching his presser I feel alot better about the decision. He’s intelligent and confident, where as Josh always had that “deer in the headlights” look about him. Lets hope the team gets behind him and he can show us some good things on Sunday. It shouldnt be too hard to outperform Freeman against the Cardinals.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:23 pm
Hopefully he goes on a nice winning streak and unites the fan base.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:25 pm
I don’t care if he looks like Richard Simmons as long as he wins.
and hell having confidence with that look can’t come easy. LOL
@ least a 14 point win on Sunday. better get your jerseys now before the sell out!
September 25th, 2013 at 4:31 pm
I’m excited.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:33 pm
Bitter, Party of Walter, your table is ready.
I love how everyone was pissed because people hopped off the Freeman train after 3 or so seasons, (some less, some gave up just this season). But, they are SO bitter than they can’t support their owns teams new QB through even one game. Hypocrites.
People’s true colors are shining through today, no doubt.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:38 pm
I was a huge Freeman supporter (still am). Still have my 5 jersey that I will still proudly wear on game day. I had all the hopes in the world that Free would turn in to another Doug Williams…..
…but now that Free is no longer the starter, I have become a member of the Mike Glennon Mob.
Why? Because, that is who is leading this team right now and no matter what i say, think or feel, that is the decision that my team is going with. I can bitch and complain, but it doesn’t matter. I’m still going to be rooting for the Bucs.
Here’s to hoping that Glennon does indeed turn out to be the next coming of Peyton/Brady/etc. Anyone that doesn’t wish that for his team shouldn’t really call themselves a fan of said team.

just to be positive, this kid got a masters in 4 yrs while playing decent football as the schools starting qb.
so Im sure he picked up the plays/terminology quickly. but Im worried about whether he can adjust to the speed of the game, and be on time with his receivers.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:47 pm
The rookie can’t do no worse than Josh. Well he could, but it’s going to be awfully hard to.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:49 pm
He also went to the NFL’s new QBU: NC State. How does a school have 3 NFL starting QBs (only school to do that) yet it pretty much never wins anything?

youre still hung up on freemanites vs mgm?? dude, move on. we all get that Free is done. Ive even given Glennon 100% of my support.
youre sad dude. you were either abused, bullied or rayped as a child…… or all of the above. grow the fck up, and move on.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:55 pm
Funny, all of the people who simply made the reasonable suggestion that maybe it’s best for the team to move on from a QB who had shown no progress in three-and-a-half years were called “haters.”
And now all of the people who called all of the reasonable people “haters” are trying to undermine Glennon before he’s even played one regular season game.
I guess it’s clear who the “haters” really are. They’ll be the same people who will ping on every single mistake Glennon makes, all season long.

Just watch, if Glennon has similar #’s to Freemans rookie year, he will “suck”. If someone has an agenda, they lose all objectivity.

the real HATERS are the ones who are STILL sh!tting on Free after he’s done. after these HATERS finally got their man. to them, it was always personal. those are your “HATERS”.
September 25th, 2013 at 5:01 pm
I wish the kid well. Now we can see him in a full game with the no. 1’s and then we’ll have some idea of what he is really capable off. Lets hope for the best.
September 25th, 2013 at 5:01 pm
Mak,
Are you not reading everyone crapping on Glennon before he even takes one snap?
THAT, my man, IS A HATER. YOU HAVE IT FLIPPED.
September 25th, 2013 at 5:01 pm
but I see what you mean Illuminati. there are still Freemanites sh!tting on Glennon.
September 25th, 2013 at 5:02 pm
Identifying this organization as totally dysfunctional is hardly hateful.
Merely accurate.

are you guys listening to 620?? If Free is really on that candy, that changes everything…

tampa2,
So true! Makaveli calls posters’ wives the vile, disgusting “C” word, and then tells us to grow up.

I think benching Freeman was a mistake but it is in the rear view mirror now. It’s done. I’m a true Bucs fan and now that it is done the best thing is for Glennon to succeed…unless he’s a deadend player and will cost us a good pick in the draft.
But I refuse to root for any player to fail (unlike some) and will support Glennon.
That said, I sort of agree with you in this instance. The first amd biggest adjustment for rookies is to adjust to the speed of the game. I also want to see how he does with shorter passes.
September 25th, 2013 at 5:28 pm
Well, this just happened sooner than expected but everyone other than Joe saw this coming. If Glennon can minimize his mistakes I think he could do well. He has the tools. I remember being pissed when we drafted him until I looked at his film. I think if he would have had a decent receiving corp he’d have gone much higher in the draft. It’s the mistakes I worry about. It’s potentially ruining the career of a kid who I think needed more time but we’ll see. I’ll be cheering for him. Let’s hope our receivers catch the ball this week. We need to help him all we can.
Ultimately, it was the smart move. Have to see what we have in Glennon so we know how to draft. Let’s hope the change lights a fire.

Our starting QB, quite possibly may have the best looking girlfriend in the NFL.
Well …. not quite, but she sure is a Honey!
Mike Glennon is far from a “loser”!
He is a bright, confident young man, and may even put on some weight, as he gets older.
Regardless, Joe Flacco is not exactly a weighlifter.
I think Glennon is flat gonna shock some people in the NFL, especially as he gets a good chemistry with our receivers.
I wish Josh Freeman the best.
September 25th, 2013 at 5:44 pm
Me, I’m kinda worried about who Glennon will have to throw to.
September 25th, 2013 at 5:51 pm
Watched youtube videos of Glennon from last year, pretty good throws, stood in the pocket and took hits while completing passes. TOOK HITS, something JF5 is incapable of doing.

Well thats good. He might not be the answer at QB, but at least his girlfriend is hot haha.
But Ryan Tannehill has hottest significant other for an NFL QB. Lest we forget she was the star of the draft last year.
September 25th, 2013 at 6:18 pm
sorry bucrightoff, but Gisele wins the “Hottest NFL Wife” competition. I bet she’s got a snatch like Wonder Woman…
September 25th, 2013 at 6:38 pm
Glennon had more preseason reps than our starter did let alone rookies Schiano been planning this move since last year but the team wouldn’t let him just dump Freeman. I’ve seen this coming for a long time I’m just mad they didn’t trade him last year when we could’ve got something for him. But hey maybe we can get Clowney since we will probably be picking in top five next year.
September 25th, 2013 at 6:40 pm
Didn’t like decision, but do believe it was necessary. I still like Josh Freeman as a QB, he just didn’t get the job done. When that happens you get canned. Next man up. I will root for Mike Glennon just as hard as I rooted for JF. Let’s go Mike 13-0 baby. I’m glad our O line is back to full strength for the Rook. I may be reaching here but I wonder if Demps and Page factored in to decision? Here goes. Last week Page got live reps in the slot because Shiano knew that if he succeeded in the slot Demps could take over the return duties. Page had some shine the coaching staff figures that Rook and page both being 2nd team have worked together in practice and have a little chemistry, even working after practice together. Rook is gonna need that guy he is familiar with right out of the gate and he hasn’t time to build with Vjax and MW yet. Brilliant!!!

After almost 40 years of Bucs football….
…. aren’t we DUE for a QB to just come off the bench and light it up? Where’s our Kurt Warner? Our Colin Kaepernick? Where’s our Tony Romo?
You would think we’d get lucky by ACCIDENT.
September 25th, 2013 at 6:52 pm
I’m pulling for Glennon to do well and wish Josh all of the luck in the world. I met him right before his first start and he was such a nice guy. That being said, I hope he gets the help he needs because he is not that same guy anymore.
@Joe
Could you explain how the Big Dog can insinuate drug use and genuine concern for the kid (a good hour of his show) and they you guys bash the organization for the move? If he has in fact been ‘skiing’ then this move 100% had to be done. It’s obvious something has been very off with the kid for some time. Thanks.

I often think about this very same thing. I tell my wife stuff like this all the time.

Congratulations #8. Now don’t hang your receivers out to dry forcing them to make acrobatic catches and don’t make your lineman hold the pocket forever looking for the perfect option and you’ll be fine…
September 25th, 2013 at 8:58 pm
Let’s do work MG! We believe in you and after you get your footing please get a sports psychiatrist to help you with your personal needs – forget the external; I good MG is a good Bucs team. We can avoid the mistakes your predecessor made.
September 25th, 2013 at 9:04 pm
Just look at that face of Mike Glennon. If that isn’t a picture of a winner then gosh darn it, I don’t know what is…
September 25th, 2013 at 9:10 pm
Like when we won the Super Bowl?
I’m much happier about that lucky moment than having a hall of fame QB.
September 27th, 2013 at 12:11 am
I have a feeling Glennon is going to rock it. He was drafted–nothing is by “accident!” Schiano knows what he is doing. He’s finally getting to play his guy.
September 27th, 2013 at 12:22 am
BTW I do like JF and do feel bad for him…
