Revis Says Bucs Defense “Playing Great Football”
September 18th, 2013Joe was very direct with superstar, $1 million-per-game cornerback Darrell Revis today.
“You’ve been played on some great defenses. How good is this Bucs defense right now?” Joe asked.
Revis was clear.
“We’re very good. We’re very good. We still got a lot of work to do. But we’re playing great football,” Revis said. “And we got to continue to do it consistently. I think that’s the big word. All 11 of us being consistent on the field.”
There’s not a lot of hope swirling in the heads of Bucs fans when it comes to the offense, but there’s plenty of hope in the defense, which has been dominant outside the 2-minute situations late in games.
The defense will have to continue its strong play — or better — for the Bucs to score a win Sunday in New England.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:08 pm
And…Brandon Meriweather gets fined…$42,000. Yup, repeat offender who’s notorious for always using the crown of the helmet gets 1/2 for a guy who has 2 legal hits and one where Sproles ducks his head in.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:19 pm
Joe, please tell Steve Deuchemig to stop clamoring for Schiano to get fired. Thats not going to help this team whatsoever this year. During the offseason its one thing, but after 2 freaking games? The guy is an idiot.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:23 pm
People still listen to am radio? lol… 98.7 the fan is where it’s at…
September 18th, 2013 at 4:23 pm
Agreed. And while your at it how about ask him to let his callers, who’m he doesn’t agree with, actually talk and not get hung up on and you know… act mature? Lol
September 18th, 2013 at 4:28 pm
It’s my birthday this Sunday Sept 22nd. I don’t want anything else for it, but a win by the Bucs. That’s all I want.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:29 pm
Better yet, I suggest not tuning into Duemig. The callers are not allowed to disagree and 99% of the time Duemig is flat out incompetent. Schiano isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and the front office would be making an enormous mistake if they did let him walk.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:32 pm
I suggest avoiding Duemig at all costs. The man is 99% incompetent and doesn’t allow disagreeing callers.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:37 pm
Happy Birthday 87, and I want you to get what you wish for.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:44 pm
blackmagic00…it will be one of the happiest birthdays ever. It’s either that or I will be singing It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:45 pm
I have to admit, this Bucs Defense is playing very well. They remind me of the the 1996 5-dash-2 Bucs. They were in almost every game but found some ways to blow it.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:46 pm
The big dog actually makes a good point.
“we ran the ball on 1st dow 90% of the time”. that’s just too predictable.
September 18th, 2013 at 4:59 pm
I want LVD, GMC or Clayborn to hit Br-ady so hard his head comes off. No I mean it too. I literally want to see Br-ady’s head in his helmet rolling down the field onto the NE sideline and rest right by Bill’s feet. Ha ha ha ha ha and ha. Sick? You betcha!
September 18th, 2013 at 5:14 pm
Pretty sick 87. Lol. I hope we can roll up at least 5 sacks and a couple picks. maybe sack-fumbles pick sixes or even sapps grand slams.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:17 pm
@ Buc 1987…..
Happy b’day….its my Grandson’s 1st on the 22nd…Wesley Chapel….
His party is at 2pm…I have a major conflict….watching the game & celebrating with him…I don’t think he will mind…
September 18th, 2013 at 5:22 pm
TrueBuc
Did you listen to Brooks response? Refuted everything BD said.
Joe on the other hand always agrees when on air.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:23 pm
Just my opinion(Don’t mean Ish)-But I’ve always felt that the 99′ defense was the best that we’ve ever had( shout out 2 Hardy Nickerson and his continued success @Bishop O’Dowd High School)
If we can build continuity; stay healthy.
This SHOULD BE the best defense we’ve EVER had. Yep I said it EVER..
Of course you’ve got to win a Super bowl solidify that claim. But they have the potential to carry this team all the way (similar to Ravens 1st Championship team)
GET’EM!!!
September 18th, 2013 at 5:24 pm
@Buc’87, you one sick puppy. I Love You Man!!!
September 18th, 2013 at 5:34 pm
Eric disagrees but I still stand by that thought as well.
They are playing GREAT and have the potential to be an ELITE defense.
Our young guys are only going to get better and better individually and the defense will only get better and better as a whole.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:36 pm
1987 mines the 24th of this month!
And I CONCUR!!!! PrinceBrady is the bane of my existence >.<
September 18th, 2013 at 5:38 pm
“but there’s plenty of hope in the defense, which has been dominant outside the 2-minute situations late in games.”
The only prblem is, the last 2 minutes is wher you earn your $$. I love our hard hitting swag, minus the penalties, but if we learn how to finish games, then our d will be bigger than Jesus.. not the prophet Jesus, but Jesus – my fat mexican neighbor.. Nice guy.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:40 pm
Test
September 18th, 2013 at 5:43 pm
New strike zone on Brady…”The Cup Zone”….hit so hard that Gisele Bundchen will have to do a double with Talib & Blount until Tom recouperates!!!
September 18th, 2013 at 5:43 pm
Eric has no choice but to disagree. If he admits the D is good, then that is basically him admitting that everything he has said about Dom has been wrong… Dont put any stock into anything Eric says.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:46 pm
Love how Duemig spends 30 minutes talking about how the D cost us the game. Spent another 20 minutes blameing everything else on everyone else but Freeman…. If I didn’t think his bias was so funny, there would be no reason to listen to this moron.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:47 pm
Love how D.u.e.m.i.g spends 30 minutes telling us how the D cost us the game. Spent another 20 minutes blameing everything on everyone else on the offense but Freeman…. If his stupidity wasn’t so funny, there would be no reason to listen to this moron.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:51 pm
“but there’s plenty of hope in the defense, which has been dominant outside the 2-minute situations late in games.”
I should not have to come down to the D in 2 minute situations. If the offense would just start matching the level of play that the D has had this season.
If the offense ever shows up. God help the NFL.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:52 pm
@Couch Fan,
Why do you care what Eric thinks says? Sorry, but youre kind of childish. Its not about trying to prove this buc fan wrong or that buc fan wrong, its about bucs fans coming together to support our team. And if something is wrong with the team, getting to the bottom of it.
Riht now, especially with the national TMZ sports media trying to stir up our team, we should unite against Them! Stop being a baby. Eric didnt even comment on this article! Obsessed much?
United we stand!
September 18th, 2013 at 5:54 pm
Who said anything about caring what Eric says? I put a fact out there. Has nothing to do with what I think. Just like I dont give a dam if you think I’m childish… Lol
September 18th, 2013 at 5:56 pm
D is really good and its only been 2 games. Communication will just get better and better! Soon we will be winning in spite of jfro.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:56 pm
wow.. the Joes speakin the truth on schiano. I gotta say, they make sense.
good show!
September 18th, 2013 at 5:58 pm
Also, the LBs need a standing ovation. Why no story on them Joe? With all the crap I really enjoy hearing the good news.
September 18th, 2013 at 5:59 pm
“Soon we will be winning in spite of jfro.”
Are there any adults on this website? If youre a real fan, you support the 22 players on the field. If you want to support 21 players, and wish ill will on 1 player, then youre not a real fan.
United we stand bucs fans! Stay positive! Weed out the negative fans! Theyre cancers! Go bucs!
September 18th, 2013 at 6:00 pm
A lower strike zone on Brady won’t please Gisele!
September 18th, 2013 at 6:02 pm
Nobody is wishing any ill will… just some of us dont choose to be blind to the fact that our QB is horrible.. GO BUCS!!
September 18th, 2013 at 6:04 pm
@ TrueBuc
I’m certainly with you. It puzzles me how someone can be a fan and be so negative….what kind of spouse are they? Being a fan doesn’t mean you can’t complain…but what I see from some is all negative and no positive posts.
Surely, if you are a fan, you can do better than that.
September 18th, 2013 at 6:05 pm
Stay positive bucs fans! Weed out the negative fans! Theyre cancers! Go bucs!
September 18th, 2013 at 6:06 pm
Dougie and the O-line are doing their jobs. Now it’s just up to Sully, Freeman and the WR’s to iron out the wrinkles.
Again on the defensive side..I see a good D about to turn the corner into a great one and it’s only been 2 games. Let’s see how they handle Br-ady. I think they will, with or without Gronk.
Joe please tell Duemig I said ((Edited for foul language))) himself.
I expect sometime throughout this season for father Dungy to make a comment about the current Bucs defense.
September 18th, 2013 at 6:10 pm
Positive: Crabtree & Nicks will be back. This should help our passing game and improve running.
Positive: Goldson wont be suspended. Our D will continue to bring it. (hopefully cleaner hits, but just as hard)
Positive: Patriots WR Amendola is out. Gronk is hurt. Our LBers and DBs should have a field day!
Stay positive bucs fans! Dont underestimate the power of positive energy! Weed out the negative fans! Theyre cancers! Go bucs!

September 18th, 2013 at 6:20 pm
Positive: The Bucs are going up to NE hungrier than a fly on shyte.
September 18th, 2013 at 6:20 pm
I’m aware that we have holes. I’ve read the negative nancys pound the same talk over and over and over. Freeman has played below average, not awful, because we still had a chance to win each game.
Doug Martin was horrible on Game 1, but NObody, went all out on him. But all he needed was lorig, and look what happened. I think Crabtree will lift Freemans game us like lorig did martin. Freeman has no outlet receiver. And if Crabtree starts racking up catches, that’ll push Ogletrees game where he’ll want some of those catches too. Ogletree right now has no competition, so thats why the dropped passes mediocre plays.
Thats ^^ how you look on the brightside.
Stay positive bucs fans! Dont underestimate the power of positive energy! Weed out the negative fans! Theyre cancers! Go bucs!

September 18th, 2013 at 6:24 pm
2-2 at the bye people hold on tight.
September 18th, 2013 at 6:25 pm
Positive…all those plays we held back on during preseason & first two games are saved for NE….
September 18th, 2013 at 6:26 pm
Wow Trent to Indy WTF
September 18th, 2013 at 6:37 pm
Positive: Boston media will be more supportive than Tampa
September 18th, 2013 at 6:41 pm
Positive: 1 game closer to putting in a real QB.
September 18th, 2013 at 6:45 pm
@ Couch
I’ll give you that one if you want….but the only problem is probably would require another failure from Freeman.
Positive: Playing NE in Sept instead of Dec
September 18th, 2013 at 6:50 pm
Positive : Not being a Browns fan and having your team trade away your only star player in the middle of the season week 2.
September 18th, 2013 at 6:51 pm
Excuse me week 3, but wow. Buc fans and the media think our team is a mess???
September 18th, 2013 at 6:54 pm
OH GOD! More “real fan” crap talk! I’m soooooooo sick of that!
September 18th, 2013 at 7:00 pm
Agreed Buc1987!
September 18th, 2013 at 7:01 pm
If I were a Browns season ticket holder I’d be asking for a refund for 2013.
September 18th, 2013 at 7:04 pm
Positive: Buc power ranking 30….can only slide 2
September 18th, 2013 at 7:05 pm
Positive: bucs got a home game televised for the first time in a while
Positve: bucs dont give up 200 yards rushing a game like they used to
Positive: defense looks like they could be on to something really special
Positive: Goldson is not suspended
Positive: real close to getting Nicks back
Positive: wont have to see those ugly creamsicle jerseys this season! lol
September 18th, 2013 at 7:06 pm
Question is will Dom be calling Cleveland soon? They do have 2 extra draft picks now and Weeden is out.
September 18th, 2013 at 7:07 pm
Sorry I had to stir that up, but.^^^
September 18th, 2013 at 7:16 pm
Remember when several folks around here wanted Richardson badly, including wanting to trade up to get him?
Thank God we got Doug Martin eh?
September 18th, 2013 at 7:16 pm
Positive: Welker @ Denver
September 18th, 2013 at 7:17 pm
o and happy birthday Buc1987. that would be a good birthday present indeed.
September 18th, 2013 at 7:21 pm
Thank you b-day well wishers.
September 18th, 2013 at 7:23 pm
I supported freeman with all the same excuses until last week when i saw it for myself. He stares down wrs while other wrs run Wide open. He throws with 0 anticipation of breaks in his routes and looks lost when trying to improvise.
There are no shackles on freeman people. He ran last week. He is not restricted from running he is making a business decision on his own. He doesn’t care about this team. He also threw the ball deep on at least 3 plays. He is not inhibited to take a deep shot. So where are the shackles?
I would rather put up with rookie mistakes from a rookie.
September 18th, 2013 at 7:25 pm
Did anybody read the report on PFT about Revis? Wow… Florio has a freakin vendetta… he basically called Revis a liar in not so many words.
September 18th, 2013 at 7:26 pm
Revis has a long history of causing problems for a pro football team, primarily through two holdouts and another one that he seriously contemplated in 2012. For Revis, “those New York days” include his own role in an off-off-Broadway production far less amusing than La Cocina. So there’s reason to believe that what he says and how he feels could reflect two very different realities.

Couch Fan…no I did not see it we Buc fans get enough negative press passed onto us from Joe. I’m sure Joe will dig it up though. Posting soon.
September 18th, 2013 at 7:32 pm
Lol I didn’t think I could be anymore shocked but I’m actually shocked someone could write such stupid crap like that. I really dont get it. holding out makes him a liar?

September 18th, 2013 at 7:45 pm
ha ha ha PRBucFan…I must have missed it. Mines on game day so I’m hoping for a Happy Buc Day. But Happy Birthday to you as well.
September 18th, 2013 at 7:49 pm
With Crabtree back we should have a improved offense and should be able to hit the middle of the field, which will either open up Williams or Jackson or Crabtree or Martin in the middle. Nicks being back should make the rushing attack better and with Crabtree and nicks back we should see a better offense. The defense is fine and are keeping us in the game we just need a decent game from the offense and we can get w’s
September 18th, 2013 at 7:54 pm
Woot woot! I’ll make that my birthday wish too than 😀
Ahahaha thanks guys
September 18th, 2013 at 7:58 pm

Peace & Bless to the Norton Family. Ken Norton was a great Heavy weight fighters, and even better human being( August 9, 1943-September 18, 2013). You will be missed brotha

“@1987 freeman has no vaule u really think we would get a first round for him”
No but it’s worth a shot. Throwing in Freeman and another 3rd round pick. If the Bucs don’t win before the trade deadline. Dom might be calling Cleveland who desperately needs to put out the fire and anger from the fans. Freeman might just do that for them. Distract the fans away from the Trent ordeal.
September 18th, 2013 at 9:19 pm
^^^ I’m not one to speculate on what the front office will, won’t or should do. It’s a just saying moment.

SteveBucsFan (MGM) says:
“I supported freeman with all the same excuses until last week when i saw it for myself.”
No you didnt SteveK – I mean, SteveBucsFan (MGM). Youve been stirring up QB controversy with Couch Fan from the start. Your hate runs deep. You guys are a cancer.
Stay positive bucs fans! Weed out the negative fans! Theyre cancers! We can still right the ship!! Go bucs!
September 18th, 2013 at 10:26 pm
TrueBuc,
We are two different Steves on JBF.
Who are you to judge other fan’s opinions? If you would stop jerking off for Freeman and crying, you would see that I have been largely silent.
I don’t care for the controversy, just making the playoffs.
May the best QB take us, until then, go ahead and judge away.
Sad that you are not a “True Fan”, but rather a spiteful knuckle headed baby.
September 18th, 2013 at 10:31 pm
Here is an interesting read from the game on Sunday, went over all all the throws Freeman made. I agree with the it, should check it out. Even if your a Freeman hater or fan, its an objective take from last game.

September 18th, 2013 at 11:03 pm
SteveBucsFan (MGM) and SteveK (MGM) are 2 different people? Whatever SteveK good ploy though. Even if your not. Your in a pickle now man. You might have to change your name now. This site is becoming more and more fishy as it goes along with you people. Who the hell knows how many different screen names people use? I know I only use this one, but how do you know I’m not lying too?
September 18th, 2013 at 11:08 pm
“SteveBucsFan (MGM) and SteveK (MGM) are 2 different people?”
As for this I smell BS.
September 18th, 2013 at 11:09 pm
TrueBuc…best just to avoid anyone named Steve on JBF.
September 19th, 2013 at 12:01 am
thanks for the heads up 1987.
September 19th, 2013 at 12:12 am
The linebacker’s have been a pleasant suprise. Int’s FF’s pic-6’s sack’s. Those LB blitz’s that never worked last year. All of a sudden are getting thru.
September 19th, 2013 at 12:41 am
@Saskbuco
we don’t take too kindly to them types uh articles around here! you best just take ur logical thinkin’ self and keep on walkin’ boy!
Kidding. That was an interesting read. (Im no Freemanite), but it would be nice (and fair) if a lot of these fans took all of their hate & blame towards freeman and were big enough to acknowledge flaws in coaching and other players too. Sadly, it takes a lot of character to put your pride aside and analyze things without bias.
Just look at D.C. A bunch of 70 year olds pointing the finger back and forth, in the meantime, not getting anything accomplished.
September 19th, 2013 at 2:10 am
@Saskbuco
I just re-read those numbers. And out of the 27 pass plays, they only called 5! passes on 1st down!
So throughout the entire game, we threw it on 1st down JUST 5 TIMES! That is either terrible playcalling by Sullivan, or a bad gameplan by Schiano.
We need to keep defenses on their toes! Well I’m optimistic about Crabtree’s return. I feel a turnaround people! Stay Positive! Go Bucs!
September 19th, 2013 at 2:16 am
If Joe or any reporter can ask Sullivan just exactly what his intention are with that kind of playcalling.
Or does Schiano tell Sullivan what type of play he wants (run or pass), and Sully flips through the variatons of that type of play and picks one.
I’m sorry but only 5! pass plays on 1st down the Entire Game?!?! Mind-boggling!
September 19th, 2013 at 2:27 am
ok. I just looked at the play by play on BSPN, and we ran it SEVENTEEN times on 1st down!!
17 run plays on 1st down/ 5 pass plays.
Where’s the balance? I’m starting to think F being positive! This is just rediculous. Now I kinda feel for Freeman! He is not being given a chance to get into a rhythym!!
17 runs on 1st down/ 5 pass plays! Either Sullivan or Schiano need to explain what the hell thats all about!
September 19th, 2013 at 5:45 am
Freeman has had plenty of chances
Hmmmm given the choice Dougie trumps Free anyway, I don’t blame them Freeman doesn’t deserve the trust continually get the ball placed in his hands.
September 19th, 2013 at 6:55 am
@trubuc
I figuered it out you are really deumig arent you. You try to bully people and then do the samething just because you have a heightened sense of self entitlement. Even though you have had a rational thought yet.
Just keep making up excuses for freeman.
And dont act like you know me. I have freeman jersey in my closet that i proudly wore until qfter this last game.
Stevek and myself are different people. I know thats hard to you understand. There are more than 1 steve in the world.
September 19th, 2013 at 7:27 am
PRBucFan,
Youre missing the point. When you rush 17 times on 1st down/ and just pass 5 times on 1st down, then any decent NFL team will catch on to this and crowd the box. You need to keep defenses honest, keep them guessing. But with the lopsided playcalling, they knew what we were gonna do. No wonder our offense couldnt score and get into a rhythm. Too many 3rd and longs.
Sullivan and Schiano need to address our predictable playcalling. Its time to get creative. We need points!
If they dont trust Josh, just bench him and start glenon. But theyre still starting Freeman, andbecause of that, they have to trust their decision to start him. Instead of being scared to play him. Might as well start glennon if theyre scared of playing Freeman. But I think our O turns it around in NE. go bucs!
September 19th, 2013 at 9:33 am
1987 and TrueBuc,
I updated my name from “SteveK” to “SteveK (MGM)”. There is another Steve, but what needs is there to explain to you two? What good is it really going to do?
TrueBuc- your opinion is your opinion, please continue to take shots at fellow fans because the Bucs are 0-2.
September 19th, 2013 at 12:21 pm
I’m not missing any one of your points,
MY point is who can blame them with that thing we have back there?
