Schiano: “We’ll Get This Fixed”
September 15th, 2013Greg Schiano talked about the tough topics on the Buccaneers Radio Network moments ago on WDAE-AM 620 following the agonizing loss to the Saints tonight.
On the 3rd-and-6 call, where the Bucs needed a first down for the win deep in Saints territory but the Bucs ran the ball, Schiano said he and his staff was confident in their choice.
“We thought we’d get it the way they were playing the run,” Schiano said.
Did Schiano really believe running on 3rd-and-6 would get the first down? Apparently so.
On the Bucs’ 10 penalties, many of them sloppy pre-snap issues and illegal hits: “It’s my job to get us to do things the right way. With the help of my staff and a team that cares about each other, we’ll get this fixed,” Schiano said.
Joe hopes Schiano can get stuff “fixed” fast. But the problem is much of the sloppiness should be happening to begin with, not from a team whose head coach is a discipline-first guy.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:22 pm
I don’t believe in you Schiano
September 15th, 2013 at 9:22 pm
Think I’ve heard this before.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:22 pm
Clearly , it’s Freemans fault …
September 15th, 2013 at 9:22 pm
Lies, Lies and more Lies from Schiano!!
September 15th, 2013 at 9:25 pm
Ya know after the goal line stand before half time I said to myself, “there it is. That’s where we turn the season around.”
Nope
September 15th, 2013 at 9:25 pm
ya ya ya schi we herd this before
September 15th, 2013 at 9:25 pm
Yes Schiano was out there hitting Graham late and to the head. Yes it was Schiano who didn’t line up properly on the line.
They play in the NFL and can’t get those simple things down? This is on the offense: dropping balls, awful qb play, and pop Warner penalties.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:26 pm
SCHIANO SET FREEMAN UP TO FAIL THIS GAME. NOT ONE FIRST DOWN DID THE BUCS THROW AGAINST ONE OF THE HIGHEST POWERED OFFENSES IN THE LEAGUE!!!!! HOW EASY DOES THAT MAKE IT THE ENTIRE GAME TO GUESS WHAT WE WILL DO ON 2ND AND 3RD DOWNS??????? I LIKE WHAT SCHIANO HAS DONE WITH OUR D….BUT HE NEEDS TO GET OUT OF OUR OFFENSE WITH OR WITHOUT FREEMAN COACHING LOST THAT GAME.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:27 pm
I can’t take losses like this but I don’t care what anyone says our defense is back and if we had ANY kind of offense we would be 2-0!!! Maybe it is time for a change before its too late
September 15th, 2013 at 9:29 pm
is no one noticing the turning point? The Adrian Clayborn sack/”penalty” on Brees, where we recover the football on the 30? Every other play is a Clayborn “grazing helmet” tackle…but because of that, we lose. Awful.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:29 pm
It almost did and he had some space. Again I don’t mind that call. Lindell HAS to make that kick. He makes it. We win. Point blank. Your asking for the saints to go down the field with no timeouts and less than a min to score a touchdown. That’s tough even for brees
September 15th, 2013 at 9:30 pm
I cant believe im saying this…
Can anyone on here really tell me that Mike Glennon would do worse than 9/22 125 yards one TD one INT one Fumble?
1999 all over again, only that had a happy ending. This could be more like 06
September 15th, 2013 at 9:30 pm
Yet, like last week, the Bucs still had the lead late in the game. The Bucs still overcame those calls.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:31 pm
Schiano has coached his players to play disciplined, the player’s are failing the coach.
Schiano should start benching players. Oh wait, then it’d be his fault.
This game boiled down to ship play from the offense, specifically from a quarterback that threw for 125 yards and two picks.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:32 pm
Now sure how that was the turning point when the Bucs overcame it and had the lead with a minute left.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:32 pm
That call on AC was complete bullshit and the call on demar Dotson was also bullshit!!!
September 15th, 2013 at 9:32 pm
@raph I have supported Freeman from the beginning but he played like sh** in this game. The defense play LIGHTS OUT for 4 quarters and all he can get us is one touchdown. And the defense helped with that score too. Freeman is a part of the problem and he needs to get his ass in gear if we are going to win any games this year. An average performance from Freeman and we blow out the Saints. C’mon raph Freeman sucked let it go
September 15th, 2013 at 9:32 pm
Was it me or did the bomb to ogletree go thru his hands again?
September 15th, 2013 at 9:33 pm
Schiano needs to go, it’s all his fault. During that drive we ran the ball between the tackles with no problem why not spread them out and then do the same instead of tossing the ball knowing damn well that too many things could go wrong or if we didn’t get the first down instead of having the ball in the middle of the field you put it on the side for our third option at K to try make a FG, I mean its not like our kicker sucked for another team and was cut because of it…
September 15th, 2013 at 9:33 pm
Schiano is a defensive coach that loves to run the ball…he trusts his defenses because that’s what he knows best…..he doesn’t trust Freeman and that mistrust is very well deserved. He won’t trust Glennon either.
Freeman is inacurate and can’t make adjustments….I have not been a Freeman basher….but, there is no way if we had any kind of offense that this game should have been this close.
Either he needs to delegate the offense completely to Sullivan or he needs to be “accountable” for the impotency…
September 15th, 2013 at 9:33 pm
Schiano,
Youre about to feel the wrath of the REAL Tampa Bay Bucs Fans…
Sullivan,
You might want to start measuring Schiano’s office to see if your desk and furniture fit.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:34 pm
Inexperienced DEFENSIVE Coach Syndrome
NEVER TRUST YOUR QUARTERBACK!
However, Trust Leonard Johnson man-to-man on Marcus Colston at crunch time, but Not Josh Freeman and your HIGH PAID Receivers?
September 15th, 2013 at 9:34 pm
@BKNYfootballhead
1 td. 1 int. 1 fumble.
Brees: 2 ints, 1 TD.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:35 pm
he’s saying the same thing every week. he’s the slowest fixer around
September 15th, 2013 at 9:35 pm
He should be fired. This is not the early 90s early 2000’s. Offense has changed. The Greastes Show on Turf would be a joke against these offenses. Times have changed. Our team with this play calling will not work.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:36 pm
Isn’t Sullivan the OC? Why would Greg Schiano start calling plays on the final drive? I think it is Sullivan who needs to grow a pair on the final drives
September 15th, 2013 at 9:37 pm
Yes, Rian Lindell missed the kick.
Yes, the defense collapsed on that last drive.
But maybe if our worthless quarterback would be able to put together a drive and move our offense downfield, our defense wouldn’t be so drained from all the stops they have to make!!!
Freeman is the biggest problem. He sucks. He ain’t a rookie anymore!
Schiano doesn’t trust Freeman. I don’t blame him.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:37 pm
We have a good team and the talent is here. It’s not messing with Schiano I want a coach that truly knows how the NFL works. Dungy….. Please come back
September 15th, 2013 at 9:38 pm
Offense blew it over and over. Defense blew it on the last drive. What the hell was Johnson doing covering their #1? Isn’t that why we pay Revis $1mil per game? And great call putting the game in the hands of the old man kicker that just got cut from the awful Buffalo Bills. Glug glug glug glug glug
September 15th, 2013 at 9:38 pm
Not that I’m a Schiano fan, cause I’m not!! Wish we would’ve hired Marty!!
September 15th, 2013 at 9:39 pm
Hey Schiano, how are you going to “FIX THIS” when you’ll be on the sidelines coaching college again by the bye week? This fan base is going to destroy you this week. I will make sure I call in to berate you tomorrow on WDAE my man.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:39 pm
Touchdown guys….don’t agree, 72 yrd td throw called back because of penalty…he had us in a position to win the game….again .
September 15th, 2013 at 9:39 pm
You cannot put this game on the defense!!! PERIOD!!!!!
September 15th, 2013 at 9:39 pm
@ Walter
322 yards 67.5 rating = Brees
125 yards 56.1 rating = Freeman with 7 freebie points.
Get real
September 15th, 2013 at 9:39 pm
*touchdown gus*
September 15th, 2013 at 9:40 pm
south florida might need a new head coach soon 😉
September 15th, 2013 at 9:41 pm
@ShuttheBucUp
Revis was covering Graham, the #1 reciever
September 15th, 2013 at 9:41 pm
@BKNYfootballhead
Lol did I say Freeman outplayed Brees??????
Only a retard would say that.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:41 pm
Sorry Joe, but the run on 3rd and 6 was the right call. NO had no to’s left and an incomplete pass there stops the clock. The run took an extra 40 seconds off the clock before the fg attempt. Not Schiano’s fault the damn kicker missed!
September 15th, 2013 at 9:41 pm
Raphael shut the hell up, you are such an ass.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:42 pm
Lindell choked
September 15th, 2013 at 9:44 pm
@TAMPABAY BUCSFAN…I could not AGREE MORE!!!!! I LOVE what schiano has done for the energy and fight for this team….more so on the defense but all around as well. With that being said…this offense did not pass the ball one time the entire game on first down….unless it was the one time I looked away. NO DEFENSE IS STUPID ENOUGH to not know the next two plays on second and thrid down. Freeman had a horrible game and this loss goes on both QB and offensive play calling…COACHING! Schiano needs to give the offense to Schiano regardless of WHO the qb is. Then we will have a chance.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:45 pm
@ Raphael
Name me one quarterback that has played worse than Freeman this week?
Good luck
September 15th, 2013 at 9:45 pm
I meant give the offense to Sulivan
September 15th, 2013 at 9:46 pm
Patrick…….NO !
September 15th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
http://www.ucfrejects.com
September 15th, 2013 at 9:48 pm
Fixed? Just like this week?
September 15th, 2013 at 9:48 pm
Bkny ….name me one team with more penalties ? And don’t say it doesn’t matter because 3rd and long does matter …
freeman did not lose this game or last game….he is not the problem
September 15th, 2013 at 9:49 pm
Pewter report is saying Greg schiano will not commit to freeman as the starter for next week until he looks at the tape
September 15th, 2013 at 9:50 pm
Better odds of Doug getting 6 yards than Freeman completing a pass. Kicker’s fault.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:51 pm
BKNYfootballhead, I was referring to their #1 wide receiver. Sorry, should be more specific I guess. Having Revis on Graham really helped there eh?
September 15th, 2013 at 9:52 pm
Our defense is going to be top 5 this year. If we had Alex Smith or someone like that, a calm, steady hand we would be going to the playoffs this year. We will have a new starter here next year, the only question is who?
September 15th, 2013 at 9:52 pm
the kicker cost us
September 15th, 2013 at 9:54 pm
Freeman has done nothing to prove he’s ready to have the game in his hands. The guy is playing scared. I’d make the same play calls if it were me.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:54 pm
How does Lindell get a free pass on this one?
September 15th, 2013 at 9:54 pm
Raphael you either:
A. are mentally retarded
B. have a man crush on Freeman
WHICH IS IT?
September 15th, 2013 at 9:55 pm
I don’t think Schiano is a disciplinarian at all anymore. He is an anti-authority control freak. Read and hear him speak and you’ll notice he has no respect for any type of rule or anyone who may get in the way of what he wants.
Disciplinarians respect the establishment. Schiano clearly does not
September 15th, 2013 at 9:55 pm
Schiano has lost two games with his decisions. He is the problem
September 15th, 2013 at 9:56 pm
Ralph….Schiano for sure set freeman up for failure….but with that being said Schiano calls the plays and Freeman has all of the opportunity in the world to read the defense and roll out a pass based on what he see’s. Freeman handed the ball off for FOUR QUARTERS ON FIRST DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!! TEAMS DON”T DO THAT!!!!!!!!! That play calling was horrible and Sulivan knows how to call plays. YES I AGREE SCHIANO IS 50% to blame for this but Freeman needs to read the defense and change to a pass on first downs and earn his keep. With that being said no matter who our QB is Schiano needs to hand the reigns over to Sulivan and keep his nose on the defense….PERIOD!!!
September 15th, 2013 at 9:57 pm
Jackson got TWO 3rd down passes dropped.
Freeman threw that beauty of a TD to VJ, only to get it called back.
After EVERY big momentum swinging throw by Freeman, we come back to RUN IT on 1st & 10.
Schiano WILL NOT let Freeman get in a rhythym!!!
You ignorant inbreeds who think he played like crap, obviously didnt watch the game. Or you were wearing your Freeman Hater shades.
Fox once again captured Schiano yelling out orders during an offensive play call!!! I would respect the SH!T out of him if he just leaves the offense alone! Like Chucky left Kiffin alone! Like Dungy left Manning alone!!!!
Wake Up Haters! Schiano needs to focus on his defense, and let Sully handle the offense!!!
Schiano is Sabatoging Free & Sully so that he can get HIS guys, Glennon & McNulty to OC. WHO LEAKED THE PHOTOSHOOT STORY???? TAKE A WILD GUESS! WHOEVER DID THAT DID NOT HAVE THE TEAMS INTEREST IN MIND.
September 15th, 2013 at 9:59 pm
Kicker had 67% accuracy in this range. The right call was punt and let the defense do their job.
This one is on Schiano again. Too many penalties and miscommunication
September 15th, 2013 at 9:59 pm
Why start Glennon at this point? Do you really think Glennon will step in and win these close games? You think they’ll let the rookie blast it downfield on 3rd and 6 while trying to hold onto a lead? Our playcalling sucks beyond belief. Why not call a pass play and give Freeman the option to run himself? HE CAN RUN. Glennon cant. Advantage Freeman. But in the end, doesnt matter when you just run the tailback into a wall, then put the game at the foot of a castoff kicker from the Bills.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:00 pm
Alot can be out on schiano but he can’t control how every player executes very play but when freeman who has amazing running and arm talent gets out played by ponder of all Qbs there’s a problem. Yes some passes were dropped but when you are late on every throw and stare down V. Jackson very play or hold the ball too long of course your going to suck. For a rookie that prob is inexperience and coaching but after 5 years that’s just sad for a 1st round pick. In my mind free failed and time to move on. But schiano is a defensive coach and his defense kept that lack luster bucs offense in the game that Bree’s should’ve lit p the board. So schiano should take some blame as he is the coach but he can’t control the bad decisions that freeman makes on the field.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:01 pm
tonytwocents is short-changed of sense.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:02 pm
Lol. Yeah, Schiano is sabotaging Freeman. What is this? Infowars? Some of you people sound completely insane. This is a win-now league. The idea of a coach sabotaging his own team is ludicrous. Seriously, stop watching football if you’re that psychotic.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:02 pm
Why not go for it on 4 and 3?????????????
September 15th, 2013 at 10:02 pm
No one gets a pass:
Coach way too conservative, no moxy, JF played well in the fourth, the right play call gets you either a completed pass or a qb run option.
JF could have done more but he can’t catch his own balls that were dropped on third downs.
How do you trust a kicker who only played one preseason game, he ain’t no freakin Connor Barth (snake-bitten team)
BTW does anyone realize that since Schiano blasted the kneel down play against the G-Men the Bucs don’t get the benefit of any calls. Especially if physicality is involved. The refs have said they don’t like him. So we can’t win.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:03 pm
Pewter Report states sunday moring that freeman wants to seek a trade by october. Joe can you confirm this?????
September 15th, 2013 at 10:03 pm
Sully 4 HC…
September 15th, 2013 at 10:04 pm
Freeman drove us down the field on that last drive with some nice throws to Vjax so how can anyone be blaming him? When you have an idiotic coach who makes the same mistake over and over again. The biggest question is why the hell was Johnson covering there #1 wide receiver??????? Is that not a joke????????? We have Darell Revis who had been playing great football and you put Leonard Johnson on Colston???????? Johnson isn’t even a starter on most teams so what do you expect from a future HOF qb he finds mismatches and he’ll take Johnson on Colston everyday! This team just finds ways to lose, you had to no lindell was going to miss that just like someone said the guy was cut by the Bills! Yes Freeman did not have a great game but when it counted most he made the throws on that last drive if we didn’t have a dumb coach we Freeman could of thrown a slant to Jackson for the win. For all of you freeman haters out there i just don’t understand how you want his gone when all we have is a guy that wasn’t even projected to be drafted run an NFL offense??????? Next week will be a true test for freeman because NE has a great front 4 who will probably limit Martin so i see Freeman having to have a big game to win. If our d pays just as good we can easly stop brady and his group of undrafted free agent WR.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:04 pm
I’m having flashbacks of Warren Sapp pleading in Buc’s locker rom “Just give us 17 points. That’s all we need”
September 15th, 2013 at 10:05 pm
Dom needs to step in… Publicly. Schiano is turning us into a TMZ circus.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:05 pm
Schiano needs to go. The team has too much talent to look this sloppy all around. That’s a coaching problem. Freeman is good enough for this team to win. Let him have the ball with the game on the line.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:06 pm
Joe: here is the link http://www.pewterreport.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=9193:&Itemid=15
September 15th, 2013 at 10:06 pm
Why not have the same blind faith in Glennon that you do in Freeman? Is he not a Buccaneer? Clearly Freeman can NOT help us win. Let’s see what we got in Glennon. START GLENNON!! GO BUCS!!!
September 15th, 2013 at 10:07 pm
No blame, just sloppy play, albeit the defense looked great.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:08 pm
Who’s trading for Freeman to be their stater? This upcoming draft has so many QBs Freeman is gonna have a hard time being a starter next year.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:08 pm
Did anyone hear Shaun O’hara this morning on NFL Network, he talked about how Schiano is such a control freak that the ST coach walked in the wrong place during practice and Schiano blasted him in front of everyone and threatened to fire him, guess what, he got fired.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:09 pm
We barely had the ball in the first half. Our dreense is just about beastly. If we didnt let michael bennetg walkk, hooboy
September 15th, 2013 at 10:10 pm
With Free gone, Schiano will promote Glennon & McNulty. And he will want more & more of his ‘yes men’ at OBC.
Dom will be on an island, we’ll probably see some bickering in the offseason next year on personell, and Schiano will want to be GM. Like his buddy Bellicheat.
And we will become Rutgers South………. Never winning a big game. But drinking the Schiano Kool-Aid cause we’ll be hypnotised by his gapped tooth.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:10 pm
Freeman is not the problem. This team is closer than most think. Changing QBs would be a huge setback and signal to the vets that the team is throwing in the towel.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:11 pm
Schiano wants Glenon because he couldn’t have him at Rutgers.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:11 pm
What offense…..we threw the ball to a TE…twice in two games….we threw the ball to a FB once in two games….we finally has a pass caught by our 3rd wideout…..one in two games….
Its run the ball with Martin on first down or second & short….
Our playcalling is awful…
September 15th, 2013 at 10:11 pm
exactly jd40.
if anything, Golson and LVD have more say over our D players than Schiano.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:12 pm
Schiano is a defensive minded coach. He’s turned our defense into a hard hitting, gutsy group of hawks. We have a pass rush now. We are killing it on D. No credit to Schiano for that? Whats wrong with you people? Run him out of town after the 2nd game of the season? Idiots.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:13 pm
tonytwocents Says:
September 15th, 2013 at 9:33 pm
Schiano,
“Youre about to feel the wrath of the REAL Tampa Bay Bucs Fans…
Sullivan,
You might want to start measuring Schiano’s office to see if your desk and furniture fit.”
Based on what? Have you been watching this offense at all?
I think you meant to say, “McNulty, start measuring Sullivan’s office to see if your desk will fit.”
Some of you really need to wake up and smell the roses. Schiano isn’t going anywhere. Sullivan will get the can first. Schiano’s defense is the only thing keeping this team afloat in these last two games. Has Schiano managed the games very well? No. His staff full of experience is letting him down, and that’s the real problem.
Not getting plays in on offense after change of possession is unacceptable(Sullivan), not having the right personnel on the field for a punt return is unacceptable(Wannstad).
Heads will begin to roll shortly, but not the ones the kneejerkers will be happy with.
Every time Martin got rolling, and it would have continued all game, Sullivan put the ball back in Freeman’s hands. Who’s really to blame here. Sullivan throws sh!t against a wall and waits to see what sticks without any plan. Good OC’s are thinking three or four plays ahead, judging by the time it takes us to get plays in, Sullivan is still trying to figure it out 15 seconds into the play clock.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:14 pm
what is this coach record since he has been in Tampa, and how much money has the Glazer’s spent. Please come to Tampa coach Smith.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:15 pm
Freeman is the worst quarterback in the NFL
September 15th, 2013 at 10:16 pm
Still don’t see how people are so oblivious to the terrible coaching while believing Freeman lost us another one. So many passes dropped or receivers tripping. Anybody that says Freeman was horribly inaccurate is ONLY looking at the stat line.
Schiano will never be good enough to out coach other NFL head coaches.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:17 pm
@BKNYfootballhead
Whoa, that’s a stretch
September 15th, 2013 at 10:23 pm
I’ll give Schiano credit for our improved D. But that credit is shared with LVD and Goldson. Schiano just needs to stick with his strengths! Stay out of my teams offense!
Did you see how Sully is sitting there with Free on the sidelines, keeping Free engaged. Free wouldnt even acknowledge Schiano.
jd40, where have u been all this time. This team is DEFINITELY correctable. It comes down to minimizing penalties, and that is 100% on the HC. Even J. Lynch said so.
Freeman played well to keep drives going, he should have had a bomb of a TD. But his o-line once again fucced him…. Thats on Bostad, Sully & Schiano.
Freeman was never given a passing play after a big throw. And he couldnt change the play, or else Schiano would shit on him for going against him….
…….so much for my hiatus from JBF… Im just so pissed. Schiano is ruining a talented as fucc team.
And stop blaming Free. Without Free, VJ isnt a Top 5 WR & doesnt have his best season of his career, Without Free, MW19 isnt a Top 10 WR and one of the best #2 WRs in the league.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:26 pm
And without Free we probably win more games.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:28 pm
When you believe in something so great, and are too stubborn to see something with reason, then youre intellecually stunted.
When the truth doesnt gel with your belief, you just brush it off as crazy talk. Maybe you’ll be gifted with intellect in your next life.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:29 pm
This is the 2nd time Schiano has played it safe this season and the 2nd time the Bucs have paid for not going for the jugular. I don’t question the call to run on 3rd and 6, I question the call to kick the field goal on 4th and 2 with Drew Brees on the other side.
If Schiano thought they were good enough to get the first down on 3rd and 6, why not run on 4th and 2? You were playing for the field goal. It was the wrong but defendable position but stop insulting my intelligence, Greg.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:31 pm
couch, youre just ignorant…. plain and simple.. stubborn, unwilling to accept the possibility that others onour team may have cost us the game. our defense, as great as they played for 59 minutes, gave up a game winner with less than 2 minutes, for the second week in a row. racking up penalties along the way… just like last week.
as the season goes on, youre gonna start running out of excuses for blaming Freeman.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:31 pm
Schiano has had some hand in fixing the D, but so has Dom. They have invested plenty to make it happen. Schiano is unfortunately guilty of several issues affecting this team. One is playing BS head games with our young starting QB. Why doesn’t he keep the tardy issues in house? Why did he create all the BS at the end of the season with the QB competition talk. If you want a better QB, go get one and shut your mouth. The wise move is to support Freeman right up until the day you bench him. There’s no benefit in playing games or lighting fires. If freeman is going to fail, let him fail trying to win. Don’t take the ball away. Freeman was our best chance to win today. We needed to trust our QB to even have a chance. We all knew what Brees would do if we gave him the chance.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:33 pm
westcoast said – “Still don’t see how people are so oblivious to the terrible coaching while believing Freeman lost us another one.”
you got me brutha. Its like the Twilight Zone… Fuccin mind boggling.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:33 pm
The coaches have destroyied Freeman. Time for free to go and the coaches have to go. It’s getting old fast. Mike gel. Will not last long. First pick in the draft here we come
September 15th, 2013 at 10:33 pm
Tony2cents
And stop blaming Free. Without Free, VJ isnt a Top 5 WR & doesnt have his best season of his career, Without Free, MW19 isnt a Top 10 WR and one of the best #2 WRs in the league.
VJax was a top 5 receiver when the Bucs decided to pay him 55, 000, 000. Wow, you are so blinded by your Freeman man crush. VJax saved Freeman’s ass on that long pass that was called back. You are kidding right? Do you honestly believe what you’re writing?
September 15th, 2013 at 10:33 pm
Schiano has to take the blame for all the sloppy play. Freeman can be successful here if allowed. He’s still a very young QB

“Anybody that says Freeman was horribly inaccurate is ONLY looking at the stat line. ”
Fantasy Football Fans.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:35 pm
Tony you are just a jock sniffing whiny little bitch who refuses to see that your lover sucks ass!! Freeman cost us another game. Funny I said last week that Freeman would stink it up again and your stupid ass would be right back here blameing everyone but him…. Stats dont lie. Freeman sucks!

“I don’t question the call to run on 3rd and 6, I question the call to kick the field goal on 4th and 2 with Drew Brees on the other side. ”
Good point.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:39 pm
These are some funny comments. Many valid points being made by Monday morning quarterbacks. Freeman its the QB, Schiano the coach, asst coaches have their roles and players have their roles. Good things that have happened: Cramini is a damn good back up, if not starter, defense is thumpin and fast with good overall coverage. How many teams hold Brees to minimal scoring. Look what’s happened since Schiano has been hired. A new attitude for sure.
Be patient everyone. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
What we do need is a stud tight end and a slot receiver. More offensive weapons not overalls.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:39 pm
Freeman didn’t commit all the penalties that lost the game

jd40 – “One is playing BS head games with our young starting QB. Why doesn’t he keep the tardy issues in house? Why did he create all the BS at the end of the season with the QB competition talk. If you want a better QB, go get one and shut your mouth.”
Holy Christ, a fellow knowledgeable Bucs Fan! There IS hope!!

couch, youre just ignorant…. plain and simple.. stubborn, unwilling to accept the possibility that others onour team may have cost us the game. our defense, as great as they played for 59 minutes, gave up a game winner with less than 2 minutes, for the second week in a row. racking up penalties along the way… just like last week.as the season goes on, youre gonna start running out of excuses for blaming Freeman.
If it wasn’t for defense we wouldn’t have scored a single point. Int to set up a TD where if Freeman went through his progressions he would have seen a wide open Page in the endzone instead of scrambling. They also had a pick 6. Did you even watch the game.

NY – “The coaches have destroyied Freeman. Time for free to go and the coaches have to go.”
If Sully is moved to HC, Free stays. And Sully is a QBs HC type. We retain our D staff, and we still have hope. Then in the offseason, bring in REAL competition for Free.
Sully will be a HC next year, whether here or somewhere else. Little did we know after being smoothed talked by Schiano, that the bast man for our HC spot was flying under the radar scheming up the best Bucs offensive unit last year.
Schiano is obviously threatened by Sully, so he is undermining him… But goodness always prevails.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:44 pm
I’ll admit freeman isn’t where he needs to be, but he’s been mishandled from the start. With all that, he still is the best QB the Bucs have had. He has the youth and potential enough to keep him around.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:46 pm
“Freeman played well to keep drives going, he should have had a bomb of a TD. But his o-line once again fucced him…. Thats on Bostad, Sully & Schiano.”
Good Lord, are they supposed to go out there and hold these player’s hands?
Get real, players play the games. All these coaches can do is try and put them in the right positions to succeed.
Freeman had 87 yards passing before that last drive, EIGHTY-SEVEN!!!, with plenty of opportunities to have more if he could read a defense. The bomb you speak of was 100% Vincent Jackson, any piss poor QB can throw up a jump ball.
“Did you see how Sully is sitting there with Free on the sidelines, keeping Free engaged”
This is half the problem on offense. While Sullivan should be trying to figure out the game he’s having to spoon feed information to Freeman because Freeman still doesn’t reacognize basic defensive coverages. Most mediocre QB’s in the NFL know where the ball should be going based on pre-snap reads, not Dunderhead 2.0.

Glennon gets closer and closer to taking over with each game. Keep it up Josh, You’ll be out of a job in no time. Start Glennon! GO BUCS!!
September 15th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
We have more star players on this team than anytime since 2002. The window is opening. I’m not sure we have the right coach. He needs to swallow his pride, talk to the leaders on the team and adjust his approach. His current 1980s approach isn’t working
September 15th, 2013 at 10:51 pm
Start Glennon? You are really showing your lack of football wisdom.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:51 pm
Couch, you’re a short-sided Fantasy Football Fan. You cant go into depth on the game like me, you cant talk about any other aspect of the game other than QB.
Youre hellbent on trying to convince people that Freeman is the only problem.
Like I said plenty of times before. Freeman is just a middle tier QB. He will never be elite… BUT WE DONT NEED ONE! With a good defense, RB, and WRs, we can win championship after championship.
Freemans INT was god awful. So was his pass at Ogletrees feet. But he made two throws to VJ dropped on 3rd down. We called a run after EVERY single big pass Free made. This guy is being sabatoged.
But youre an easy read Couch. You beef with Free is personl. THATS why you dont think logically, and thats why I print out your comments, and wipe my asss with them.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:53 pm
Lets start Glennon now so that when he’s ready to win, VJack will be 35 and Doug Martin will be used up. The time is now. They have to make it work with Freeman. There is no starting over.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:54 pm
Glennon would have done no worse in these two games…I’m not saying we would have won with him…but we might have.
There is no excuse for Freeman’s performance.
I think he is just plain inacurate, inconsistant….stares down his intended targets…holds the ball too long and doen’t adjust or think on his feet that well.
It seems he has a set play in mind and if that isn’t there he throws it there anyway.
Can you believe we targeted a FB once, a TE once & a RB once?
What kind of offense is that?
September 15th, 2013 at 10:54 pm
@tonytwocents
Please, please explain to me how Sullivan is such a hot Head Coaching candidate? I’m sure I’m going to love this explanation.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:57 pm
Why don’t any journalist actually grill the coaches on why they think running 100% of the time on first down is an effective strategy? And then when they give you some bullshit line, have the statistics to throw in their face of how many yards each of those first down runs gained. It’s like they are trying to prove they only need 2 plays to get a first down so they just kill the first one of every drive.
September 15th, 2013 at 10:59 pm
Start Glennon, Save the season before it’s to late! GO BUCS!!!
September 15th, 2013 at 11:05 pm
@gotbucs
I believe in 2 things to be successful, attitude & work ethic.
ATTITUDE
Sully’s pressers are full of energy, and good insight into the game. Even after the Jets game, he had an upbeat and positive attitude.
Schiano’s presser after the 4th preseason, he was as demoralized as Ive ever heard him. And he snapped when asked about Crabtrees injury, (who he should never have started in the 4th preseason game).
WORK ETHIC
Sully’s a West Point Grad, ex Army Ranger. Army Rangers can go into the jungle, take 5-10 villagers, and turn them into an army. fact. AND hes mastered Brazillian Ju Jitsu. WORK ETHIC.
Schiano has work ethic as well. He controlled everything at Rutger from coaching to the media to marketing.
so thats a draw.
BUT THEN THERES EXPERIENCE.
Sully climbed the ranks of the NFL for over a decade. And he has been successful up until now, because Schiano is now dictating play calling. Sully gave us one hell of an offense last year. He’s no Greg Olsen.
Schiano, other than winning as DC at Miami, has won NOTHING at Rutgers. He has only been in the NFL for a couple of years as DB coach. And now he was handed a HC job, too fast too soon.
Look, I can go on and on, but you guys are wearing me the fucc out.
Sully 4 HC.

lmao. just because you say “fact” doesn’t make it so… you’ve watched too many movies
chuck norris for hc because he played a ranger and his beard alone could kick sullies ass
September 15th, 2013 at 11:25 pm
I agree with Scotty, go for it on 4th & 3. Play to win the game.
September 15th, 2013 at 11:34 pm
Well that’s 2 leads in the last 1:00 Freeman was not on the field. WE LOST!!
September 15th, 2013 at 11:45 pm
tonytwocents Says:
And stop blaming Free. Without Free, VJ isnt a Top 5 WR & doesnt have his best season of his career, Without Free, MW19 isnt a Top 10 WR and one of the best #2 WRs in the league.
_______________________________________________________________
Look I love the Bucs and I love Mike Williams but saying he’s a top 10 receiver is ludicrous. He might be top 30 but that’s about it.
September 16th, 2013 at 12:06 am
It’s ok to say Josh Freeman isn’t your guy if he had a clue about offense. Your a defensive coach, mind your Damn defense and let the offense play, 4 games he’s cost this team. Damn Dominick first you hire raheem who refused to instill discipline, next go with schiano the dictator….Dominick had had 5 years just like Freeman, it’s time for owners to step in and make something happen instead of letting their money go to waste, I’ve never heard them endorse schiano
September 16th, 2013 at 1:51 am
Buc1987, where are you ??????? What your take on the game man ?
September 16th, 2013 at 8:12 am
Defense’s have to only guard Tampa 1 and 2 receivers, because this team does not run plays for the tight end,or the back out of the backfield. No screens, one pass to the tight end,two passes to the Mike Williams. Look at what the saints did with their tight end. Go get a tight end that can catch the ball. Coach stop fighting with player’s that disagree with you. Do not cut football player’s to prove you or in charge It will cost you your job. Think about all the players you cut or did not resign, sure could have used them on Sunday.
