No Blackout On Sunday

September 12th, 2013

Start the celebration, couch potato Bucs fans. Sunday’s Bucs-Saints game will be on local TV.

It’s the first home-opener to be televised since 2009, back when Team Glazer was still gobbling up unsold tickets.

Joe’s happy for all the kids and other fans who don’t get to choose whether or not they go to a game.

WOOO, Ill be at the game but great news that the rest of the city will be able to watch. That means there will be a good size crowd there. GO BUCS!! Best news all week.

  2. pewterpirate99 Says:

AWSOME!!!! We get to see the carnage in HD! I have a feeling this game is going to be a train wreck that none of us will be able to look away from. I believe Ryan will stack up the box shut down the running game like the Jets did and make Free Free beat them through the air. Imagine this, Josh is going to have to out score Drew Brees through the air! Damn.

  3. lightningbuc Says:

    Couch Fan,

I’ll be there too. But I’m a bit worried the ticket taker won’t take my ticket since it isn’t stamped with “Real Fan” like some of the others on here.

  4. Chef Paul Says:

Which one of those banner holders in that pic is bucfan1987?

  5. Couch Fan Says:

This is an excellent oppertunity for Freeman to step up and shut everyone up. Tampa is watching Free!!

  6. Chef Paul Says:

haha lightningbuc. That’s a good one

  7. Couch Fan Says:

    @Lightning

Hopefully we can sneak through the fake fan entrance

  8. lightningbuc Says:

Good idea couch! The hater entrance usually has a long line.

  9. Bob Says:

Build a good team and they will come; build a winning team and they’ll come to every game

  10. BirdDoggers Says:

    Whew, finally some good news.

  11. Touchdown Gus Says:

    Finally some good news

  12. Buc1987 Says:

    Told ya so, Go Bucs!

  13. Buc1987 Says:

Chef Paul…lol man. That banners too small and too lame.

  14. Morgan Says:

Who Dat Nation will be there in full force, unfortunately. Lately (last 4-5 season) feels like an away game when the Bucs are playing at RayJay.

  15. cmurda Says:

Eh, Buc1987 wants the same thing we all want – Goodell to get hit by a car. Err, I mean Buccaneer wins.

  16. ShutTheBucUp Says:

    Hey Hey Tampa Bay!

  17. Buc1987 Says:

“Eh, Buc1987 wants the same thing we all want – Goodell to get hit by a car. Err, I mean Buccaneer wins.”

    cmurda..lol both.

  18. Buc Neckid Says:

Thank You Glazers for buying up the rest of the tickets necessary to lift the Blackout.
I hope that it actually IS sold out.
But it is odd that this news was released so late in the week.
There is no way that there was a rush by the general public this week to the ticket office after the Jets Debacle to buy up the rest of the tickets to “Sell Out” the stadium.
And if the game was sold out earlier, why wait until now to announce it?
Glazers must have thrown us a bone.
    Enjoy it Tampa.

  19. D-Rome Says:

Thank You Glazers for buying up the rest of the tickets necessary to lift the Blackout.

I think you’re about four years too late with that thank you as it is my understanding the Glazers did not buy up the remaining tickets to have the blackout removed for Sunday’s game.

  20. Chef Paul Says:

David got fined for that hit on Geno at the end. I think we are going to be getting a lot of fines this year. I think I like that

  21. Buc1987 Says:

Buc Neckid…if you knew anything about the blackouts you would know that they have been announcing them on Thursday for years now. I guess you did not know that though.

  22. Buc1987 Says:

They only have to reach 85% level as well. I saw that the level was reached on the ticketmaster map the other day. Although unreliable of a source it was quite obvious by scrolling around the map that the game was going to reach the 85%.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Happy to see no blackout….I think it is good for the team to have total exposure. I hope we rebound in front of our fans and silence the critics some of which are our fans.
    Glad to see something positive.

  24. Pete 422 Says:

@Chef Paul; you gotta be kidding?! Smith wasn’t even out of bounds when contact was made. Technically that was a clean play!

  25. Sharon Says:

It’s amazing that in three hour th PR spin worked and everyone is drinking the kool aid. Sunday will be ugly for free. Monday will be more BS. Yank free and let the team rally around someone who gives a damn!!

  26. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Sharon, back under your bridge troll.

  27. Adam Says:

One of two things: droves of a-hole saints fans or the glazers bought up the excess which means the community will see them get throttled.

  28. Buc1987 Says:

Look I have been saying this same thing since the Ravens preseason game. At that game the stadium looked nearly 70% full and it was only a preseason game. Plus don’t you people pay attention to anything that has been going on or what has been said in the offseason?

    Saturday, July 27, 2013

Glazer said those same fans have been responding positively at the ticket booth, with sales on the rise for a team that has seen a majority of its home games blacked out on local television for the past three seasons. Glazer said fans should enjoy more televised games this year after just two were televised last season.

“I think you see it throughout the whole community,” he said. “You see people are very excited about the team. They see the offseason moves that we made and it is reflecting in some of the (improvement) the ticket sales we’re doing. We have a ways to go but it’s been improving.”

He added: “I think that we’re seeing a lot of traction. The team is doing a lot better. The community is very enthusiastic. The economy is getting better. So, everything is coming together at the right time.

They also had a big jump in season ticket sales in the offseason. OMG we have some dumb ass fans though.

  29. tonytwocents Says:

awesome. lets send some saints to the locker room, Goldson!!!!!

with all the drama behind us, this feels like a fresh start.. ALL RIGHT!! WEEK 1, TAKE 2!!! GO BUCS!!!

btw, lord have mercy @ that hottie in the picture, upper right. mmm!!!

  30. MadMax Says:

Hey, Im happy for you guys in that area! Hopefully I can watch it at home since I cant be drinking like I did last Sunday (before going to work on monday)….I was with SeanyMac and had about 6 or 7 vodka/grapefruits…….felt like crap the next day lol. But if Fox doesnt show it in my area, then its back to the Ale House!

Hopefully the pats put a beat down on the jets tonight…..dont think ive ever hated the jets as much as I do right now!!

  31. tonytwocents Says:

@MadMax, I dont drink anymore. But next time, chug a tall carton (2 pints?) of coconut milk before you go to bed. That stuff hydrates better than gatorade. No lie.

take it from me… a former raging alcoholic.

  32. tonytwocents Says:

my bad. I meant coconut water…theyre in like 2 liter cartons at publix.

  33. Buc1987 Says:

Actually I’d like to see some Jets beat up a few Pats players before the Bucs have to play them in the next game. Anything to help us out with them.

  34. vdubguy Says:

Actually if the jets were to beat the pats tonight i would feel much better about week 1.

  35. tonytwocents Says:

I somebody beats down Brady… cue the “oh no” guy.

  36. MadMax Says:

Haha, good advice Tony…and great point Buc1987, maybe they’ll get to Brady after he runs them up by about 21 points.

  37. MadMax Says:

    testing 1 2 3….delayed post again i guess 🙂

  38. MadMax Says:

As I was saying, great advice Toany….and Buc1987, maybe they’ll get to brady after he runs up about 21 points on them….then it’ll be a win/win for me haha.

  39. MadMax Says:

    lol, happened again….oh well.

  40. tonytwocents Says:

    no worries Mad…

just cause I stop drinking doesnt mean I cant live thru my drunken bretheren. A salut!!

  41. MadMax Says:

Salute Brother! Didnt mean to mispell your name either Tony, dont know how the heck that “a” got in there, lol.

  42. Buc1987 Says:

They say Amendola is out for atleast 6 weeks. So that’s a good sign. Looks like they are hopeful Gronk might play week 3. They said they are sure he’d be ready by week 4 though.

  43. BigMacAttack Says:

I hope Josh is watching Tom Brady demonstrate how easy it is to score on the Jets.

  44. Tim S. Says:

The pressure on Freeman this Sunday is immense. Few people expect the Bucs to win but to avoid “critical mass” he has to improve significantly.

Being at home isn’t going to make anything easier on him either. At the first sign of trouble the fans will turn on him and won’t let up.

That said, as a Bucs fan I hope they turn it around and pull off a huge upset this Sunday. Go Bucs!

  45. Lakeland fan Says:

Pats are only up 13 to 3 at the half.Maybe the jets arn’t as bad as the experts predicted.

  46. MadMax Says:

@BigMac, that play calling too…the setup with the run to fool the D for a wide open down the right sidelines…smdh…awesome!

Pats would be up by another TD if Dodson (a rook) was on the same page with Brady….now granted, Freeman had some probs with Ogletree’s stone hands….and thats why I havent been hard on him like I normally would this week.

I still think the Pats are going to go up big.
But our D knows who to target now…that little guy (cant think of his name, sitting in for Amendola)….and that O line just might not hold up too well against us…..blitz like a mofo against the Pats is what Im thinking.

  47. MadMax Says:

Pats almost lost to the Bills….they’re not all that is what it is 😉

  48. MadMax Says:

alright, wheres my other post, lol.

  49. Buc1987 Says:

“blitz like a mofo against the Pats is what Im thinking.”

    Yup might thoughts exactly!

  50. Buc1987 Says:

Br-ady has what a 44% right now in the 3rd qtr. Yah me too BigMac I hope Freeman is watching Br-ady have a worse completion % than he did against the Jets.

  51. Stevene Says:

Bucs 1987, you need a life outside of this website

  52. Broy3434 Says:

Told everybody nobody gave the jets credit. Granted they shoul be down 14 tonight and could’ve lost by 20 against Tampa. But they control the line of scrimmage and our loss isn’t looking so bad right now

  53. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    lightningbuc Says
“I’ll be there too. But I’m a bit worried the ticket taker won’t take my ticket since it isn’t stamped with “Real Fan” like some of the others on here.”

The put in a bridge replica so all the trolls can sit under it and watch the game…so you should be fine 😉

  54. Saskbuco Says:

Haven’t posted in a while, due to the amount of criticism I took when asked about the area, as I’m a die hard bucs fan who lives in Canada and will be going to my first game on MNF on Nov 11. I was a little set back from all the negative shots I took, but understand everyone’s points, and respect them no matter what. Which leaves to this, the Jets D just made the best QB (arguably) look average as well as a power house offense. I just hope all the negative, overblown and over reactions can chill for a while. Bucs fans need to rally behind this team, through tough times (1983-1996), great times (1997-2003) and all the rest. It was a sloppy, bad performance on Sunday, but this Freeman bashing is getting out of hand, I’m a Freeman fan, just as I am every player on this team. The fanbase is fantastic, loyal and passionate and I consider myself lucky to be part of it, I hope all fans can take a deep breath, believe in this team and be the loudest fans in the NFL on gameday!!!! As the BUCS will whoop the AINTS and rock RAYMOND JAMES, be proud to be bucs fans and show the support this great franchise and city deserve!!!!

Long winded post, most people probably won’t read, but after the craziness of last few days, I had to reach out and where better than the best bucs site on the planet. I take a lot of heat for always backing Freeman, but I will as long as he wears PEWTER. GO BUCS!!!!!

  55. Buc1987 Says:

Saskbuco…Great post man. Fans need to start having some pride about this team. No matter the outcome of each game. Respect your team. Not trash it.

” Instead of putting together these long drawn out paragraphs about your hatred for this and that about the Bucs. Why not just make 1 clean short sentence of, I hate my team? It’s that simple. Just say I hate my team and get it over with.”

  56. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Me too, Saskbuco.

Just remember…only a few here are haters. Most are pretty good people. Its the haters that launch into personal attacks when you don’t agrre with them.

  57. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I don’t think it’s so much that we lost to the Jets, it’s how we lost. The penalties especially bothered me. The apparent lack of preparation. I can handle losing to a decent team on the road, but the fact that we literally beat ourselves drives me crazy.

  58. Ben Says:

I’m not sure I believe that this game actually sold out. I appreciate the good will from the Glazers towards those who can’t make it to the game, though — those who prefer to watch at home, you suck.

We will see on Sunday how many sections are completely open.

  59. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Ben, they did sell out. Ticket sales can be monitored and there was a steady decline of available tickets showing valid sales.

The larger question is whether the Bucs fans finally stepped up or if the Saints fans stepped in.

After Katrina, Tampa was “flooded” with Bucs fans for some reason. Some have gone back but many still remain.
