“We Feel Like He Can Play”
September 4th, 2013Greg Schiano updated the condition of some wounded Bucs today, including Carl Nicks.
The Bucs are holding on to hope that their stud left guard can make a heroic start against the Jets on Sunday after his well publicized MRSA infection in his foot, and recovering from his offseason foot surgery.
“We feel like he can play,” Schiano said, though he explained that Nicks is still being evaluated and did not practice.
Joe asked offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan about his depth at left guard, and Sullivan was quick to say that he was hopeful Nicks will return.
Joe would be stunned if Nicks is back on Sunday.
Schiano said fullback Erik Lorig was limited in practice, along with rookie running back Mike James. Cornerback Rashaan Melvin (hamstring) did not practice, per Schiano, and Joe saw no sign of tight end Tom Crabtree.

Yet Lorig is listed as the starting FB, and Crabtree as the #2 TE right now… heh
September 4th, 2013 at 3:38 pm
I don’t see Nicks coming back to play this week. I would be surprised if the infection is completely cleared and there’s no reason to rush it and possibly complicate the situation.
September 4th, 2013 at 3:43 pm
Inactive list prediction: Crabtree, Melvin, Wright, Jones, James or Lorig, Dan O.
Of course….I could be wrong…..the argument
Don’t need 4 TE
If Lorig not injured….don’t need 4 running backs & James weak blocker
Don’t need 3 qbs to suit up
Melvin & Crabtree injured
Jones New

Buc1987,
It appears you were right, I was wrong pertaining to Nicks. no need to cut and paste. I’ll admit when I’m wrong. You obviously know feet better than I do.
September 4th, 2013 at 3:48 pm
Lets have Amanda Tynes evaluate Nicks’ infected toe….nothing like having a disgruntled spouse participate in the process…afterall, she has experience & maybe seeing big Carl’s toe would make her feel better . And…Carl just might take advantage of her.
September 4th, 2013 at 3:50 pm
I’m not buying it. I can’t see him not practicing for the last 2 or 3 weeks then all the sudden being ok for Sunday. I think he’s close but probably wont see him til at least week 2.
September 4th, 2013 at 3:57 pm
“Carl just might take advantage of her.”
Like how? With his big black momba? lol
September 4th, 2013 at 3:58 pm
“We feel like he can play.”
Translation: He’s out for the year.
Nicks and his agents have told the Bucs that he has a life long injury that will never be better. The Buc’s trainer then infected his foot with Mersa, a life threatening staph infection.
That same infection ended Tynes career.
Schiano feels like he can play.
No wonder Nicks is not “buying in.” He probably thinks he’s one of the few sane people in the organization. That’s what you get when you force 350LB linemen to run sprints in the Florida heat.
September 4th, 2013 at 3:58 pm
I’m not buying it either Couch. You know what they say: If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is
September 4th, 2013 at 3:58 pm
Amanda’s toe fetish….will give him an “in”…..
September 4th, 2013 at 4:23 pm
lightningbuc… ha ha ha ha ha. It’s only just the beginning my friend. It really is not about know more about feet. It’s more about over-reacting Buc fans.

Oh and another copy and paste victim.
September 4th, 2013 at 4:27 pm
nicks is retired.
September 4th, 2013 at 4:39 pm
@Just A Juggalo I see Miguel is back. lol
September 4th, 2013 at 4:40 pm
Nicks is OUT. Here is the logic…he did not practice this week. Why would they risk the season by having him play on a surface (turf) famous for ending careers. They have played it safe this far and I don’t see anyone on the DL for the Jets that is an NFL All Pro. The logic says he doesn’t play. Bucs 21 Jets 9.

Gusjackson….who this guy?
Miguel El Magnifico Says:
“Get used to it. The Bucs have a lot of high-profile doubters.”
I sure have earned my “El Magnifico” stripes this year. I was the only person who was able to read through lines last year and predict the “multiple” adderall suspensions. This year I correctly diagnosed the “blister” as a staph infection simply from watching the Little General’s press conference. He’s a bad liar. Nicks is done. Finito!”

You ‘da man, Buc1987. You still have the distinction of being the only poster in JBF history to be called out by Joe for hate speech towards Joe and lying about Joe ON THE SAME DAY! Congratulations!
September 4th, 2013 at 4:45 pm
I predicted Nicks would be back by week 2 on August 27th. Possibly part time, but he will be playing.
September 4th, 2013 at 4:47 pm
lightningbuc …nope that would be Buc’nJunkie
September 4th, 2013 at 4:55 pm
lightningbuc …go and find in the archives silly Sally. I’m pretty sure Joe remembers who it was that did that and many others but somehow you’ve got me confused with another person that you seemed to hate. You’ve got your hatred missed up man.
September 4th, 2013 at 5:02 pm
mixed* up
September 4th, 2013 at 5:23 pm
I don’t want to hear squat about Nicks looking like he can play.
I want to hear that our 10 million dollar guard is ready to play, when he is indeed ready to play.
Time for a playoff push!!!!

bucjunkie,
Just because Joe referred to one of your posts today as a “HATE ATTACK” on him doesn’t mean you have to be nasty to everyone else.
^^^ya see you are one mixed up individual^^^
I don’t know why this misquito (lightningbug) keeps flying around my head left and right on a daily basis. Infatuation?
Don’t want none don’t start none. Go away misquito you bother me.
September 4th, 2013 at 6:10 pm
I believe Nicks got married during the off season. You don’t see his wife tweeting stuff out. I also don’t see him playing without practicing, but then again define “practice.”
September 4th, 2013 at 6:29 pm
Oh I get it now lightningbug used to fly around the site trying to bite buc n junkie and now that buc n junkie is gone. I’m his new target for some reason. Here’s a word of advice bug worry about posting something about the articles and less about me. I don’t know what this obsession is that you have with trying to smear me, but keep trying. The next thing you know. You will be saying that I’m Junkie and I have dual screen name. See below for more foolishness from lightningbug on August 20th more proof that it was not me “being the only poster in JBF history to be called out by Joe for hate speech towards Joe and lying about Joe ON THE SAME DAY!” AND once again like always he’s wrong.

September 4th, 2013 at 7:03 pm
This is starting to have the feel of an IR situation, which would be devastating to our offensive potential. We don’t have another guard who can even come close to doing what Nicks does at that position. We’re already paying a kicker $800,000 to sit a year and do nothing and now it looks possible that tab might increase by another $715,000 for Nicks. Luckily he restructured last year so his salary for 2013 is low, but he already received an enormous cash bonus so that’s a bit misleading.
September 4th, 2013 at 7:05 pm
FLBoyInDallas…Nicks WILL be playing in week 2.
September 4th, 2013 at 7:23 pm
Maybe…we’ll see. Question is, how long will he play after week 2 when he aggravates his toe again? Probably not for long.
September 4th, 2013 at 7:36 pm
FLBoyInDallas…he may not start, but he will be playing probably on a part time basis.

“That same infection ended Tynes career.”
The only “career” it’s ended, so far , is his career with the Bucs. It COULD end his entire career, but people do beat MRSA, every day. It’s tough, but far from impossible.

I gotta meet this 1987 guy. Hysterical!
