Time To Learn “Revis Rules”
September 4th, 2013Jets coach Capt. Lou Albano spoke to the Bucs pen and mic club this morning and, of course, the subject of Bucs cornerback Darrelle Revis came up.
Few coaches in the NFL know Revis better than Albano ,who was his head coach with the Jets. Albano noted that Bucs foes will soon learn “Revis Rules.” In particular, Albano spoke about Revis Rule No. 1:
“You better not throw it from the far hash marks to the outside numbers or he will pick it,” Albano said. “That’s one of them. Bucs opponents will learn that about him. He doesn’t let you catch the ball in the locker room. He’s one of those rare guys.”
Now, Albano finds himself in a weird position; he has to figure out how not to let Revis beat you.
“How do you attack him? It’s about how you defend him. You have to look at him different than any other corner. We had Revis Rules you don’t break. He is rare. Guy like him comes around once every 15-20 years, if that.”

Its simple, don’t throw to that side of the field that Revis is on. You listening Banks?

Cant wait to see what the D looks like with Revis locking down 1/2 of the field.

The Jets are expecting Revis to cover newly activated and untested Santonio Holmes all game. They’re not concerned about whether Santonio can contribute as much as they hope he takes Revis out of the equation. He’s rusty, and I think if Schiano is smart, he will test Santonio with Banks or Leonard. They might be good enough to cover him while Revis covers their best healthy receiver. JMO

@rbell that’s interesting. I can see Revis being used to roam more and coverage different guys on different plays. This should be interesting

Joe, Captain Lou Albano has trimed down some since his lap band surgery. It might be time for a new nick name. After this Jets beat down this Sunday, I’m sure you can come up with something equally creative.
Also, have not seen any Rachel Watson refernces lately. Has the flame burned out? Have you moved on? Inquiring minds.

I love it, that is basically a shot at the GM for trading him away. I like Rex Ryan

I would put banks on holmes too, revis on hill

If the jets implode and Ryan is fired during the season, and our D isnt looking to good, we should go after him as a DC.
Ready for Sunday Sean?

Ryan runs a 3-4 defense exclusively. We have no 3-4 DT’s and no 3-4 LB’s. It would require a complete rebuild if we went to that type of defense as our base.
Plus our best DT, and one of the top two or three in the entire NFL, Gerald McCoy, would no longer be a three-technique but would be forced to become a 3-4 DE. As we’ve seen with some of these stunts Sheridan likes to run, that would be disastrous.
No, we should not hire Rex Ryan as our DC if he’s fired. Wouldn’t work for us. The only chance would be the Glazers deciding to blow the whole damn thing up and start over. I’m sure that would please the minority of whiners/crybabies/haters who call themselves “fans”. But in the real world that just isn’t happening.

If he is 100% healthy.

satchel page: “If he is 100% healthy.”
Is that another whine I’m hearing? Because I put my ear to the screen and I could swear I heard a whine.

REVIS IS 100% HEALTHY AND HAS BEEN FOR A MONTH NOW. Possibly 110% healthy meaning he’s new and improved.
September 4th, 2013 at 12:57 pm
Oh, didnt know he was strictly a 3-4 guy. Ok, nevermind.

I like the sound of “Revis rules”. We never had “Ronde rules”, though I still believe he had a hof career.

“Guy like him comes around once every 15-20 years, if that.”
