Effort, Tackling, Execution Were Issues
August 29th, 2013So what does Greg Schiano think about what happened in the Bucs’ blowout loss to the Skins tonight?
Well, Joe asked several Bucs just how seriously Schiano takes these preseason games. And Joe got similar takes. The head coach is focused on details and effort, nothing more.
“Well the score won’t be an indication of what he came in here and talked to us about,” linebacker Jonathan Casillas told Joe. “But it’s just the effort. The effort and the precision of what we’re doing. Are we detailed in our work? Were we physical enough? As you can see, probably not, the score indicates that, the rushing yards indicate that. But when we sit down and see the film tomorrow and correct some stuff, hopefully we’ll move in the right direction.”
Joe and every other Bucs fan hopes so, too.
In his postgame news conference, Schiano quickly referenced his team’s shoddy tackling when asked to assess the night’s performance.
Buccaneers didn’t make excuses, but Joe heard from a few players that practicing hard in pads the past two days, atypical of a game week, might have been a factor.
“We had a tough week so far. You know, what we did this week was not to prepare for a game,” Davin Joseph said. “It was hard on some of the guys tonight, being that we were in full pads yesterday. But our tempo in practice and what we’ve been working on is really to get better. It’s not to gameplan [for tonight].”
Oh, and then there’s the little fact that most of the starters, including all eight Pro Bowlers, didn’t play. It’s no excuse to look lousy, but its foolish to ignore.

Not “toes on the line”…..”asses on the line”…say goodbye to 22…and maybe a couple of the 53. Looks like they won’t be missed.

I surely hope that this NSO “plan” will unfold itself with a W against the Jets.

Wow, practicing in pads for two straight days, and then a game. That an explain why we came out and just got beat up.
We need to come together and beat the Jets next weekend.
