“About A Six” For Davin Joseph
August 27th, 2013Yes, there was a reason to smile watching the Bucs against the Dolphins on Saturday night; Davin Joseph was on the field, a year removed from a heinous blown knee and the subsequent surgery.
Joseph didn’t look so great out there, but his presence was more important than his play. HeĀ emerged healthy and was a full participant in today’s practice, which several players characterized as “extra physical.”
In the locker room, Joseph was asked to grade his Saturday performance on a scale of 1-to-10. Joseph gave himself “about a six.” That was a little higher than the poor grade former Bucs guard Ian Beckles gave Joseph yesterday.
Joseph said his knee is 100 percent and he expects to be firing on all cylinders on opening day.

My take on aging lineman.
They are big, huge man beasts that seem to break down and wear down faster than the lighter players… especially after injuries.
If a former probowl player is nothing more than a shell of himself, and can’t make it through 16 games, then is he worth max NFL contract at his position??? No.
So maybe it is time for the Bucs to draft two guards in round 1 and 2 next draft and give these jokers 1 more year before they are cut Jeff Faine style.

They got injured last year and they are jokers? What would your comment be if they stayed healthy? Injuries do happen in the game of football. Bad ones. To good players. IT HAPPENS.
Save the talk for when these guys get on the field. We’ll see what their worth is then.

Let’s save evaluation until the real season begins. Assessing him now is putting the cart before the horse.

How many Pro Bowls did Ian Beckles go to? I honestly don’t remember him playing. Was he a dominant D lineman? Or did he play Offense? Was he a kicker? I honestly don’t remember. What I remember of Shaun King was that he sucked and sucked badly.
When a guy like Jim Brown or Ernest Byner has something to say I listen. Byner was a badass back. It kills me that players like Ian and King who were irrelevant have so much bad to say about players that are so superior to them.

I remember Jeff Faine and he sucked too. No one drafted worse than Chucky or signed more busted free agents. Chucky drafted Zuttah and Davin that were good. Hayward and Q Black were decent but not top tier guys. I know we didn’t have a shot at Megatron but why didn’t Chicky draft Adrian Peterson? I never understood that one, Cadi or not.

Dominick’s pricey O-Line needs to get healthy and productive.
Carl and Davin should take the appropriate time for each of their injuries, and we really need these guys on the field. Our O-Line would become dominant.
If these guys are unable to get healthy and perform, our playoff chances look a little more dim.
Dominick signed these two in hopes of having one of the best lines it football, hope it works out….
