“We Had Depth And Now We Don’t”
August 27th, 2013Bucs cornerback Danny Gorrer, who intercepted Joe Flacco in the preseason opener, had groin surgery, Greg Schiano revealed today. The timetable for Gorrer’s recovery is unclear.
On the heels of Anthony Gaitor being placed in injured reserve yesterday, the Bucs now have depth issues at cornerback.
“We had depth and now we don’t,” Schiano said during today’s afternoon news conference.
Joe followed up toSchiano to ask whether his depth concerns would affect a decision on Darrelle Revis possibly getting action in the preseason finale Thursday.
Schiano took time to clarify that the Bucs have depth at corner but they can’t afford another injury.
However one may choose to view the Bucs’ cornerback situation, they are depth-challenged at the position — for now.
There will be loads of corners hitting the market soon after teams cut down to their 53-man rosters. Remember, the Bucs found their opening-day nickel back, Brandon McDonald, on the street last year at this time.

Here we go…an opening for MyLew!!
August 27th, 2013 at 1:31 pm
It won’t really matter if we can’t manage to drum up a pass rush. Even the starters will get picked apart.
August 27th, 2013 at 1:36 pm
Sheldon Brown is still available. He’s older than God but he can still get the job done
August 27th, 2013 at 1:43 pm
Everyone is dealing with injuries, the better teams adapt to it. Some of the guys need to step up to the challenge!
August 27th, 2013 at 1:43 pm
they should go get brent grimes. dudes a stud with a capital D!
August 27th, 2013 at 1:54 pm
I second that Sheldon Browns awsome
August 27th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Next MAN UP, who is that 28 Rashaan Melvin? Kid has looked decent in games. Still got too much milk on his breathe. But after a few games, he’ll get some hair on his chest. Really hoping Dom goes after
Panthers Rookie
#23 Melvin White CB 23 6-1 205 R Louisiana-Lafayette
or
Broncos
#40 Aaron Hester CB 23 6-1 207 R UCLA
If they’re released. They seem like the prototypical corners we are looking for.
If not hopefully, Branden Smith & Deveron Carr can step their game.
LETS GO!!!

to me it means revis will really have to earn his million dollar paychecks…if he and banks can stay healthy we should be fine….though i thought gorrer was better than johnson, he is gonna be missed so lets see if melvin or someone else can step it up and make an impact for us, if undrafted rookies started for us last year were still in better shape as far as depth…my lew is playing for the lions but that wont last long im sure he’ll get cut soon but i’d rather resign eric legrande and put him out there in his wheelchair than see lewis get burned one more time
August 27th, 2013 at 1:56 pm
Oooo forgot about Sheldon Browns. He would be solid, but at this age in the game. Don’t he play the slot though?
August 27th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
Scratch that “at this age though”. Too many thoughts at once. Lol
@JOE
Help a brotha out and add an editing comment tool. Lol
August 27th, 2013 at 2:02 pm
Like I posted a few weeks back, these ”minor” injuries often turn out to be major, in Tampa town.
August 27th, 2013 at 2:10 pm
bucs arent going out getting any veterans…..theyre gonna wait for roster cuts and go from there…dont understand why people want to go get old players that no one else wants, he’s a free agent for a reason…your talking as if were starting undrafted rookies again…we are set, if they didnt go out and get veterans last year as bad as we got torched what makes people think they will this year. if they were good enough they would be in someone’s training camp this late in the game

August 27th, 2013 at 2:39 pm
“We Had Depth And Now We Don’t”
Shaun King’s wife tells him that every night.
August 27th, 2013 at 2:45 pm
@BigMac
LMAO-you wrong for that Bruh
August 27th, 2013 at 3:16 pm
goodness knows lets use last year as the model. Secondary was brilliant.
August 27th, 2013 at 3:25 pm
That’s what we get for dumping wright. He still was solid but NOOooo. I said CB would come back against us and boom here it is. Forbid something happens to Revis 2013 will be much worse.
August 27th, 2013 at 3:37 pm
yea doom and gloom…put a hex on your own team that sounds real smart….anyone else need a xanax? how can anyone look at the roster and think our db’s will be as bad as last year, gorrer hasnt been ruled out for the season….depth is a mirage, if seattle’s two starting db’s went down what would happen at corner? its not about our db’s its about the pass rush. ya’ll are frontin because no one had playoff expectations last year until we played the vikings last year. WE ARE BETTER THAN LAST YEAR BY DEFAULT. even our starting db’s sucked so atleast we have to capable starters…i’d rather have our roster of db’s than detroits who are so bad they had to pick up myron lewis
August 27th, 2013 at 3:37 pm
wright is a cum dumpster
August 27th, 2013 at 3:52 pm
@buc4lyfe
LMAO-Yeeaah that wasn’t a good look for them to pick up MYLEW. Wish we could pick DE/LB Ronnell Lewis though.
We already go dude’s nervous, fumbling on special teams when they see the (thehawk38) Dashon Goldson flying down the field . Add Ronnell to the mix and good lawd. Handing out blessings; for real.
Once again-just ah thought
GO BUCS!!!
August 27th, 2013 at 3:54 pm
We already “GOT”…smh..Lawd, Lawd
August 27th, 2013 at 3:57 pm
The revolving door at CB is sickening.
Biggers, Lewis, Gorrer, Talib, MacDonald, Leonard, Gaitor, Wright….. not ONE of those guys could stick with the WORST PASS DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE????
August 27th, 2013 at 4:03 pm
YES SIR thats what im talking about…how long do you think it’ll take teams to realize that if they go across the middle there’s two safties that’ll light em up, as a seasons on d line’s get better….fyi danny gorrer was probably our best cb last year. its a good thing when you dont hear a cb’s name very often. why not let go of last year seeing as the backfield has been revamped, we got clayborn back who we didnt have last year so we technically have just as much talent as last year on the d line and how many times did roy miller shoot the gap like spence did? i’ll save my thoughts for what kinda team we have until we play falcons, seahawks and niners and see how we stack up against the best
August 27th, 2013 at 4:04 pm
@Adam L
It will settle in soon enough brotha. Things are turning around
August 27th, 2013 at 4:18 pm
@buc4lyfe
TELL IT!! anotha thing- what was Roy Miller’s snap count compared to say #95 Gary Gibson. We good man.
Anotha thought (Don’t mean shyte, just ah thought) I know the kid was traded, has preformed up expectations. But for some odd reason, I think with the mentality of the safeties, Veteran leadership(Shout out again 2-“thehawk38”-Dashon Goldson) that we have.
IMO Taylor Mays (#26 Taylor Mays S 25 6-3 220 4 USC) would be a real solid prospect if he’s released. Hey men sharpen men-Like steel -Sharpen steel. And running around serving up snot bubbles like GOLDSON & BARRON can become Contagious (Insert Ronald Isley)Lol.
Once Again Just Ah thought
GO BUCS!!!
August 27th, 2013 at 4:20 pm
“Hasn’t” preformed up to expectations.
August 27th, 2013 at 4:49 pm
I thought taylor mays had a shot at linebacker 3-4, 4-3 if his change of direction isnt very good then ya cant play safety
August 27th, 2013 at 5:01 pm
Yeah he ain’t the most fluid of guys(Lawd bless’em). But I’ve watched a few games, were he played like a man possessed..Other times-noooooooot so much.
Was just a thought
GO BUCS!!
August 27th, 2013 at 5:09 pm
What they say
“You can coach someone to cover. But you can’t teach someone to be 6’3″ 230 pounds and run a 4.3”
LETS GO!!
August 27th, 2013 at 5:10 pm

August 27th, 2013 at 8:16 pm
