Back To Work For Darrelle Revis

As you prepare for another ugly Monday morning trudging to work, here’s a bit of bright news to help you forget the pet stain that was the Bucs loss to the Pats in both teams’ second preseason game.
It’s also back to work for Bucs star cornerback Darrelle Revis. Bucs commander Greg Schiano told Albert Breer of NFL.com that Revis is expected to participate in normal team drills beginning this morning at One Buc Palace.
“We’ll get him into the general practice population now, and get him doing some team stuff, just get him playing a little bit more,” Schiano said. “He did a little 7-on-7 last week in the red area, we’ll give him some more, and just take it, add a little bit, see how he is the next day and add a little bit more.”
Schiano added: “If he just keeps going, says, ‘Yeah, I wanna do this,’ then we won’t have to think about it as much. And if he doesn’t play, that doesn’t mean he isn’t feeling good. You just sit back and, like I said from the beginning, I don’t need to see him play in the preseason. I know what he’s capable of. He just needs to get to where he’s confident and feels like, ‘I can go out and play.’ “
Want more good news, Bucs fans? Schiano told Breer he has yet to rule out Revis playing against the Dolphins in WhateverTheHellNameOfThatStadiumIs in South Florida on Saturday.
So it seems the training wheels are about to come off. The bubblewrap is being removed. Joe knows Revis has been itching badly to hit someone. It appears that’s about to happen.

This is great news. I feel Revis needs to sometime working with the secondary during the pre-season to work on the chemistry and the “communication”. God help Dom and the Schiano if Revis gets hurt. The pitch forks will be lined up at One Buc Palace.
A little off topic, I’m getting quite tired of hearing about the “communication problem” excuse. How can “communication” be a legit excuse? If the helmets don’t work, use signs, hand signals, smoke signals, whatever or something to back up the poor helmet technology. C-mon Man, its the NFL I don’t want to hear “we had communication trouble” ever again!

We will only see him, maybe, if it doesn’t rain – as it seemingly does EVERY time we play the Dolphins in pre-season, home or away.

If he plays in the preseason, I hope they send him out there wrapped in bubble wrap.
A million dollar a game man (coming off ACL rehab) and we’re going to let him play in a meaningless exhibition, just to appease the rabid media.
You know, if he goes out there, and gets hurt, the media will pounce all over it, and blame Schiano. Even though they were the sole driving force badgering Schiano to play Revis.
Adrian Peterson didn’t play in the preseason following his ACL rehab last year, and all he did was set NFL rushing records.
He hasn’t forgotten how to play, and he hasn’t forgotten the speed of the game. He’s been running full sprints for several weeks now. The only thing he hasn’t had and that is contact. Which I personally think is good. The less hits he takes lessens his chances of being seriously injured. That’s a good thing!

Buc’n’junkie ap was different we have to remember Revis hasn’t played football since September of last year. I think it’s ok to have him out there for a series or a half

I think Schiano is being smart. I read about key players going down every week in the pre-season on other teams and so far we are healthy. This week will be more of an indicator of where we are as a team. A full half of football will show me more than two series.

@ Buc’n Junkie – I agree with you. I don’t care if he plays in the preseason. He’s a professional and the media ought to shut up about his playing in the preseason.

Dustin Keller was the worst. It’s career threatening due to the type of injury. MCL, ACL PCL, and dislocated knee. Bad!!

I think i just heard on NFL radio that every player gets the same rate. And Miller said he thought the pay check was $1,500 a game.
