Josh Johnson Hype Is A Con Job
April 20th, 2009Sometimes, Joe loves Vacation Man. He, of late, has been pulling no punches.
In a recent NFC South chat on BSPN.com, Vacation Man suggests that all the Josh Johnson love coming from One Buc Palace is nothing more than out of control spin. In fact, Vacation Man claims the Bucs, behind closed doors, think little of Josh Johnson.
David (Los Angeles, CA): A week or two ago someone asked you if you thought Josh Johnson would ever be the starter for the Bucs and you answered “no.” Come on, Pat, I could give that answer, the guy was a 5th round pick. Other than that fact, why don’t you think he will eventually start? Is the new regime less enamored with him than the old one?
Vacation Man: I don’t think anybody’s ever been enamored with him. Like you say, he’s a fifth-round pick. He was a project last year and he’s a project this year. With another new offense to learn.
WOW! Joe knows Vacation Man lives in Tampa and is a former member of the Bucs pen and mic club. Clearly, Vacation Man talks to if not socializes with his former bretheran. If Vacation Man believes this, it’s not a stretch for Joe to come to the conclusion this theory has been whispered over cold beers among fellow scribes at a south Tampa watering hole.
So what the hell is holding back the crack journalists at the local 19th Century media delivery services from reporting this same information?
Apparently, the only time Bucs fans will hear about Josh Johnson throwing a touchdown to (the bad) Dexter Jackson will be on a friggin’ video game.
