Penn Passes On TV Time, Inevitable Talib Queries
June 26th, 2013The heinous NFL AM show on NFL Network was supposed to have Donald Penn as a special in-studio guest this morning, but Penn wisely gave a last-minute “no thanks.”
Penn explained via Twitter that he didn’t want to be part of the ratings-grabbing, TMZ-like coverage all morning of Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez’s arrest. Yes, NFL Network had a reporter camped out on the scene and cameras outside Hernandez’s house.
@DPENN70 – I want 2 thank @NFL_AM staff 4 giving me a choice 2go on or not 2 I chose not 2 didn’t want 2 talk about the Hernandez arrest the whole time
Penn really made the right call.
Aside from precious diluted national exposure for the Bucs — from arguably their most colorful personality– Penn also avoided the inevitable line of questioning about what it was like in the Bucs’ locker room during the multiple arrests of helmet-wielding, cabbie-slugging, Adderrall-popping, coach-cussing, referee-charging, pistol-friendly, granny-hassling Aqib Talib.
While his take on all that likely would have been priceless, Penn wisely took a rain check.

Good move Penn. I love that our team isn’t chock full of attention starved divas. Lets just stick to football!

Classy call by Penn. Hernandez and Patriots problems are none his business or concern.

Yup! Big Man Penn got it right.

Any of you guys got any predictions on how many games we win this year?
June 26th, 2013 at 12:19 pm
With New Orleans transitioning to a new defense and the Patriots decimated at TE I don’t think it is out of the realm of possibility to go into the bye at 4-0. Although if I am being realistic, I think we come out of the first four 3-1.
For the season, I am thinking 10-6. I am guessing we split with the division opponents. We lose to San Fran and Seattle. I am also guessing one game that seems winnable will be lost to make it 10-6. We could upset the 49ers or Hawks though. I also think there is a decent chance we sweep the Panthers. I say ten wins, plus or minus one. That seems like a fairly realistic prediction.
Anybody else?

@Walter
I’ll go on record as predicting 9-10 wins barring major injury issues. Possibly 11 wins.
But I’m a homer.
June 26th, 2013 at 12:32 pm
Also, it depends on Spence working out.
June 26th, 2013 at 12:40 pm
I say 10-6. hopefully that will be enough to get us into the playoffs.

NYJ-Win
New Orleans and Pats win 1 , lose 1
AZ- Win
Philly -Loss
ATL-Loss
Car-Win
Seattle-Loss
Miami-Win
Atl – win -payback
Detroit -loss
Car – loss
Buff – win
SF – loss
St. Louis win
New Orleans win
That’s 9 and 7 for my prediction and hopefully we get lucky and win one more. If jfro avoids the 4 game slump we’re accustomed to we have a chance @ the playoffs OR if the D steps up and hands us one….
my prediction. take it to the bank!
June 26th, 2013 at 1:06 pm
@robert
What makes you think we lose to Philly? Not trying to start anything, just wondering. I don’t see them as much of a threat, that loss last year was pretty heart breaking.
June 26th, 2013 at 1:09 pm
@ Walter
new regime in town……no more Andy Reid cake walk and “dream team”
They have the talent, they just need to get their egos in check and heads out of their a$$es and they will be dangerous.
June 26th, 2013 at 1:11 pm
+ we’ll be coming off a bye with 3 wins under our belt and our teams ego’s may be inflated.
if we’re not 3-1 going into the bye I might predict it differently.
June 26th, 2013 at 1:37 pm
It’s a “Race to 10”, and I believe that the Bucs can pull at least 10 wins out of this season. Doesn’t really matter the record once in the playoffs, just that you won enough to get there.
My official prediction:
at N.Y. Jets – W
NEW ORLEANS – W
at New England – W
ARIZONA – W
Bye Week
PHILADELPHIA – W
at Atlanta – L
CAROLINA – W
at Seattle – W
MIAMI – W
ATLANTA – L
at Detroit – W
at Carolina – W
BUFFALO – W
SAN FRANCISCO – L
at St. Louis – W
at New Orleans – W
And yes, I really do think 13 wins is possible with this team and a season with Schiano under the belt.
June 26th, 2013 at 1:52 pm
Screw a race to 10, Our expectations should be much higher. Lets win the division and ensure our spot in the playoffs.
June 26th, 2013 at 1:59 pm
@Couch
My expectations are higher. That’s why I predict 13 wins this season. Can’t deny that 10 wins USUALLY, IN MOST CASES gets you in the playoffs.
June 26th, 2013 at 2:04 pm
Usually but winning the division takes all the guess work out of it lol, we have the talent so no reason not to think we got a shot
June 27th, 2013 at 6:03 am
This 2013 team reminds me somewhat of the 1997 team that finished 9-7 in that it has collected the talent but not yet had the time working together. Surprised a lot of folks back then. I think if these guys get on a positive run early we could be destined for bigger things than we think.
