Schiano’s Reward?

June 13th, 2013

Josh Freeman and Greg Schiano

Perhaps there is something to word that Greg Schiano is making the transition from tyrant to just plain hard-nosed coach. The Bucs just announced that today’s third and final minicamp practice has been cancelled.

Joe suspects the leader of the New Schiano Order will have players in for meetings and study before dismissing them early with details of the serious conditioning test that awaits them in late July, when they return for training camp.

Never fear. Joe has all kinds of news and nuggets to serve up today.

Per McCoys twitter, looks like Schiano’s taking them to the movies. Watching ‘World War Z’. Good on him.

I think since everyone except the rookies and new comers have already been through and learned what it is Schiano expects, Schiano also feels more comfortable where they are this time of year compared to last year. Also when you have your veterans teaching the new guys the Schiano way it makes the transition even faster. Schiano sees this and believes they could use the extra break. I bet he told them that he’s giving them this break now but he expects full participation and no excuses when camp starts up.

Schiano reminds me of Gruden quite a bit. Hopefully the day off doesn’t make the team think he’s going soft

Stories from last year about what happened to those that failed the conditioning test should motivate all, returning and new players, to take this seriously. My guess is 100% pass this year. I like the mature and business-like attitude that I am hearing from the players. Hope this is an incident-free offseason and a healthy training camp/preseason. Go bucs!

His voice even sounds like Gruden a little bit.
