“He’s On The Sideline Coaching”

Bucs honchos have talked a lot about how stud cornerback Darrelle Revis is going to be a major team leader.
Now there’s a little evidence out there.
Speaking in this Buccaneers.com video, Bucs rookie cornerback Johnthan Banks says Revis is “on the sideline coaching” him.
Joe saw Revis working with team trainers on practice fields and equipment at One Buc Palace, but it’s great to hear he’s getting hands-0n when he’s not focusing on rehabbing.
Interestingly, in the video Banks explains that Leonard Johnson is his brightest guiding light. Johnson clearly is an unselfish Buccaneer Man.

Thats great to hear! Revis input into the younger guys is going to pay off. I also really like the local guy Johnson also stepping up. I really hope he makes the team. Banks is in good hands.

There is no telling how influential Revis will be on everyone…epecially Banks & Johnson. When evaluating giving up a number one pick for Revis, keep in mind that if we drafted Milliner or Rhodes we wouldn’t receive the benefit of that experience.
There is no question that our secondary has improved. Our defense may now be strong enough to carry us in several games.

Probably more valuable than having a healthy Revis at OTAs. The experience these guys can draw from will be invaluable in the future. Long after Revis is gone, the lessons Banks learns will still be carrying on and hopefully be transferred to a new set of young CBs.

How about that a team with leaders acting as team leaders, who does that make special?
Say what you want about the Coaches and front office but they have created and nurtured a team with discipline and that is special.

Talent aside, this secondary needs to come together as a unit before pre season.
The sum of the parts, dream team nonsense will not be enough. We can only be as good as the weakest link.
Looks like Revis is doing his part to be a Buccaneer man. Im hoping Sapp will have to recant his “selfish” comments about Revis someday,

Not to worry. Leonard Johnson is a hard working football player. No doubt he’ll be on the roster, my guess is he makes a strong bid for nickel corner. Maybe dime if the job goes to Banks. I’ll bet he’s a coaches favorite too.

Johnson will definitely make the squad, and I agree he could be the dime cb I see wright playing this year and leaving and Johnson and Gorer becoming the Nickle and dime next year, the ASU kid probably ends up on the practice squad this year.

BTW, it’s either Gorer or Gaitor going along with Myron. Don’t know much about the ASU kid other that he’s a burner and returns kicks. We’ll see .

I have a feeling Gorrer won’t make it. Johnson took his lumps last year, but also put together some really nice tape.
I guess the key here is Lewis. They obviously want him to make it. Not too many corners with elite size and speed, he’s just been more of a workout warrior than a football player.
Think of it this way, Myron is same height as Banks (6’2″), but has 20 more pounds and runs the 40 almost 2 tenths of a second faster. He’s like Rob Johnson in that every coach thinks they can turn him into a player.

And in Myron’s defense, he has had some really lousy coaching. Hopefully Oden can fix that, though I’m not crossing my fingers.

@BucoBruce Was his first time out as a Buccaneer, I also loved it! I just went shopping @ publix in flowery branch, wearing my own orange pride sweatshirt.
I hope we keep Johnson, he did what I dreamed of as a kid in 76-80 in St. Pete. Pick six at home. He sounds like a solid young CB, who has some successful NFL CB experience. I like it that Mr. Johnson and Mr. Banks are sharing their experience, Mr Revis sharing his own experience with them is priceless. I am very excited we drafted Mr Banks he was on my first round list. Nice new recruits to become “Buccaneer Men”! Gentlemen! TOES ON THE LINE!!
