“Just A Tough-Nosed, Kinda Old School Player”
May 16th, 2013This video contains a visual most Bucs fans might have thought impossible two years ago: LeGarrette Blount wearing Patriots gear.
Patriots media caught up with Blount for a 1-on-1, which includes Blount describing himself as “a tough-nosed, kinda old school player,” — hey, that sounds like a Buccaneer Man — as well as a great NFL Films look at his iconic Bucs touchdown in Green Bay.
Joe wishes the big fella well.

he’s a big dude, wish him the best.
He will probably be a mean weapon up there because everyone is defending the pass with Bieber behind center.
God help em if they leave him in to pass protect though!

The hurdles were nice, otherwise a one trick pony. Best wishes.

I don’t believe he is a one trick pony, but time will tell. I’m a Bucs fanfirst in all instances, but occasionally a player comes along that I hoose to follow. Flacco was one since before he was drafted (had him on my Bucs wishlist that year).
Another guy I liked was John Conner, who suffered injury and got cut…signed (I think) by the Seahawks this year.
Blount is another. Rookie-wise I like Landry Jones, though it will likely be a few years before anything comes of him.

When Blount says that he is “old school,” I completely agree with him. Running backs of yesteryear weren’t asked to pick-up blitzes and become a receiving threat out of the back field. He lacks the versatility required by the modern-day running back, hence he was traded.

There’s never been a rookie 1,000-yard rusher in limited games that was a one-trick pony. Please

Whatever….I wouldn’t trade Doug Martin. Blount should do fine with N.E.

Blount was so brilliant and talented that we could trade him for no more than a 7th round pick during the last hour of the draft after being shopped for quite some time. So basically, right above Mr Irrelevant. Come on, people.
A big, physical runner North-South when the hole is there. That’s about it.
One. Trick. Pony.

He was such a confusing player. How can you be that big, but not be able to bust through the line for a yard? If he could ever learn all the nuances of being a RB, he would be great.
The line dancing drove me crazy. But, after about 10 yards, he was totally dangerous.

bucfanjeff, the same was said of Thomas Jones when he was here..went elsewhere and excelled. Why? Because he got the touches.
Do you really think Martin would have done well with the same opportunites last year that Blount had? RB need more than a couple runs to build a full steam, and Blount did not get them last year.
Don’t get me wrong…I like muscle hamster…but liking him doesn’t mean not liking Blount.

big mistake letting him go, at least he’s in the AFC.

Stick a fork in Blount he is done

For all Blunt haters. Watch him have a big night when we play them this year.

If blount would have had Martin carries betcha the farm he would have had as much if not more yards

I know the media kept telling us over and over what Blount couldn’t do. But other than this past season when he was invisible (except for the botched handoff/fumble); I don’t recall seeing # 27 dropping balls or missing blocks in pass protection all that much. Especially for a young player. It took Cadillac a few seasons to improve that part of his game. The only problem I had with # 27 was his willingness to hit the assigned hole instead of dancing in the backfield. I suspect he and Morris Claiborne had similar Won”duh”lick scores.

Joe, you missed your last chance to use the “smiling Blount picture”.
I suspect Blount was not the disciplined runner that the NSO requires, thus we was let go. I liked LG and I wish him the best.
