Number Juggling: Is Myron Lewis Endangered?
May 2nd, 2013Now this isn’t official but it’s damn close.
Since the Bucs acquired cornerback Darrelle Revis, it seems Bucs fans wanted to know what number he would wear more than Joe wanted a spare key to Rachel Watson‘s back door.
It appears that Revis may have been able to purchase jersey No. 24 from safety Mark Barron.
No, the rosters have not changed (as of 1:30 a.m. Thursday) on Buccaneers.com. But on the same site, the Bucs are taking orders forĀ Revis No. 24 jerseys.
At the same time, if you click on “Mark Barron” to purchase his jersey, it is adorned with No. 23.
Who was No. 23? That would be feared Bucs cornerback and fan favorite Myron Lewis.
Now whoever built this page is covering themselves. There is a disclaimer next to the Revis jersey, “NOTICE: Player number has yet to be determined. Jersey will ship once player number is officially assigned.” This same disclaimer is not found on the same page as the No. 23 Barron jersey.
Interestingly, in NFL protocol, whoever has seniority with a numberĀ decides if he wants to keep a number or sell it. Lewis has seniority over Barron, who has seniority over Revis, which is why Revis would have had to buy his No. 24 from Barron.
There are no Lewis jerseys for sale; they must be customized jerseys.
Now did Lewis sell his jersey number to Barron, or is there a transaction about to be announced? If Revis does have No. 24 and Barron No. 23, it does seem strange neither one of them (nor Lewis) has written anything about this on Twitter.
Joe will be at One Buc Palace later today to get to the bottom of this riddle.

Hahahaha Myron Lewis should just have player on his jersey with 00 as the number.

This maybe the year Lewis gets waived, especially if Ronde signs on.

No need to cut him now unless you need a roster spot. Let him go to camp and compete and let the natural selection process run its’ course.

While we are all laughing at Myron, Biggars, etc., lets also remember our entire defensive effort last year.
The scheme and coordinator should be included in the fun.

Biff, the scheme was fine. The execution is where it faltered.

I would be happy
with the key to the front door. With all due respect.

Could it be they just assume Revis is getting 24 and they don’t know what number Barron is taking so they just went with the next number down? (U know they’re not goin up to 25, aqib tainted that number haha)

I talked to M Barron and suggested he take 42 if he was planning on switching. I said 42 was Ronnie Lott’s number one of the best to play safety.

I never liked 24 on Barron in the first place
May 2nd, 2013 at 11:05 am
I CRACKED THE CODE!!! jonathan banks wore 13 in college. can not wear that at corner in the NFL, so 23 will be banks. revis will buy 24 so there is 24.. barron will wear 25!! thats a solid number and talib is now gone.
May 2nd, 2013 at 11:06 am
Banks should get 25

For those who didn’t know #42 was Ricky Bell’s number and hasn’t been worn by another player since.
May 2nd, 2013 at 1:56 pm
#44 for barron, think he wore #4 in college, double his nuber like he doubled his pay.. them big hitters always were numbers in 40’s (lott, browner. lynch. check atwater)
