April 21st, 2013 at 4:39 pm
I hope we can still fill holes on the d-line, o-line and te with the picks we still have left.
April 21st, 2013 at 4:41 pm
If he was coming off an ACL injury out of college this year he would be headed for KC. This is so cool do us. I’m stoked!!!
We got the best player available.
April 21st, 2013 at 4:41 pm
I don’t think he will be packing heat, poppin’ pills or driving drunk. He is about to really, really make some big Bucs…..
Change the name from Davis Island to Revis Island because he may just buy a chunk of it.
April 21st, 2013 at 4:46 pm
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 4:47 pm
Wow, I guess I’m happy. Hope we didn’t give up more than a first this year and a couple next year.
Welcome to the bucs Revis!!
April 21st, 2013 at 4:47 pm
Love this signing.We now have a very talented secondary.
April 21st, 2013 at 4:49 pm
AWESOME.. we gave up our #1 this year and a conditional 4 next year? AWEOSME!!!!!!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 4:50 pm
we only gave up 2 picks!!!!!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 4:51 pm
They are saying we gave up the 13th pick this year as well as a conditional 3rd or 4th next year. That is awesome news. It couldn’t of worked out to much better for us. I would of liked to of kept the 13th pick but hell I’d like a million bucks to. WELCOME TO TAMPA REVIS.
April 21st, 2013 at 4:51 pm
Boom! Only a 3rd or 4th next year? Great deal-ripped off Izdik
April 21st, 2013 at 4:52 pm

via rotoworld:
“Buccaneers acquired CB Darrelle Revis from the Jets in exchange for the No. 13 overall pick and undisclosed compensation in the 2014 draft.
Revis’ agent announced on Twitter that his client has agreed to terms with Tampa Bay, finalizing the trade and his new contract. Coming off a torn ACL, Revis passed his Bucs physical — after passing a Jets physical with flying colors last week — and remains on track to return at full speed before training camp. We’ll have full trade compensation and Revis’ contract details in a future blurb. But neither side is turning back now. It’s a done deal. Related: Jets
Apr 21 – 4:38 PM”
April 21st, 2013 at 4:54 pm
Apparently its the 1st this year and a conditonal 3rd or 4th next year. Pretty good I’d say.
April 21st, 2013 at 4:55 pm
Fricken ROCK STAR. BB !!! Are you kidding me !!!
MARK Fricken DOMINIK. Rocks !
April 21st, 2013 at 4:56 pm
Hell Yeah!!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 4:57 pm
It’s done.everyone wanted the BPA and now we got him.no more talk of tavon Austin(who real buc fans knew would never be our 13th pick).no more whining about who to use the 13th pic on so get the cheese out.we got the guy we wanted all along.we always do and thats how dom works.we have depth everywhere…no they aren’t all star players but are perfect role players.our draft could not look better.we took revis at 13 Nd now we get to adress other wants like a catching te, dt, or slot corner.
April 21st, 2013 at 4:57 pm
The compensation was better than expected and the contract has no guaranteed money, now what are the cry babies gonna bitch about.?
April 21st, 2013 at 4:58 pm
Just read on Twitter he has no guaranteed money. go rockstar

D,am Dom, you are a Rock Star. Managed to keep all picks except 1st, possibly trade back in first round if there is somebody we really want late
April 21st, 2013 at 4:59 pm
Congrats and for a 1st and 4th next yeah hahah Dom the Star
April 21st, 2013 at 5:00 pm
We gave up the 13th pick, for the best CB in football?
That is a tremendous pick up for us! And a job well done by Dom.
Now, if we get two more Cbs, a TE, and a DT- we will be a playoff team- and I’ll start wearing a “Dom for President” tee shirt.
This helped alot. Just a lil bit more- and we can become a playoff team!!
Welcome to Tampa, Mr. Revis! Can’t wait to see Revis island sitting up shop in Tampa Stadium.
Bring on the Jets!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:00 pm
here is the article:
“Earlier on Sunday CBS Sports Jason La Canfora reported that Darrelle Revis was headed to Tampa Bay in order to have the Buccaneers administer a physical and attempt to finalize a trade that would send him from the Jets to the Bucs. The physical is over and the trade is done: Darrelle Revis is now a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers gave up their 2013 first-round pick (No. 13 overall) and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2014 that could become a third-round pick.
“This is clearly one of the most dramatic moves in franchise history, acquiring the player widely regarded as the best CB in the NFL,” the Bucs said from their Twitter account.
Revis has agreed to terms with the Bucs on a new contract as well, according to the team. It’s a six-year contract and, according to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, contains zero guaranteed money.
However, the deal is reportedly worth $96 million over the life of the contract, meaning Revis will make $16 million per year under his new whopper of a deal.
Revis agents, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, tweeted the news on Sunday afternoon that Revis had “agreed to terms” with the Bucs.”
April 21st, 2013 at 5:00 pm
6yrs $96 million, none guaranteed.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:02 pm
OK, any criticism of Mark Dominik should stop. This is an incredible trade if Revis is healthy.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:03 pm
again, via rotoworld:
“Bucs signed CB Darrelle Revis to a new six-year, $96 million contract that makes him the highest paid defensive back in NFL history, but includes ZERO guaranteed money.
The Jets received (only?) the No. 13 pick in the 2013 draft and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2014 that can escalate to a third-rounder based on performance and playing time. The fact that Revis accepted NO guaranteed money is shocking. The compensation isn’t quite what we anticipated either, making the Buccaneers the clear early winners of the Revis trade. MORE TO COME. April 21st, 2013 at 5:04 pm
WE GOT REVIS!!!!
Everybody but the Buccaneers got screwed on this deal!
Jets: 1st round pick this year and a third or fourth next year
Revis: 6yrs 96mil (NO GUARANTEED MONEY)!!!!!!!!
Magic Dom Juan does it again!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:05 pm
Must admit, although against this trade, if all we had to give was our #1 this year and a conditional 3/4 next year, and if he comes back comparable to what he was, this is a WIN!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:06 pm
Just out of curiousity I wonder how they got a pic of him signing his contract? I didnt think they allowed reporters in there for that sort of thing
April 21st, 2013 at 5:06 pm
where are the anti-dom-apologists?
who was shrewd?
April 21st, 2013 at 5:06 pm
It’s a first and a fourth and it turns into a 3 if he’s still Der next year
April 21st, 2013 at 5:07 pm
Love this deal
April 21st, 2013 at 5:07 pm
Does the NFL have a “Lemon Law”?….seriously…..he is a Buc……I am a Buc Fan…..LTSTH’er….I hope as always it works out….always wondered about that girl in 1969 I walked away from for another I don’t even remember….~~~~C’est la vie~~~
April 21st, 2013 at 5:07 pm
@couch fan
also from the cbs article…
“And Revis business manager John Geiger also tweeted out a picture of Revis signing what appears to be a contract, telling folks to “congratulate” the “newest member” of the Bucs.”
April 21st, 2013 at 5:08 pm
Everyone knows I’m not a Dominik fan at all, BUT kudos to him on this deal. I like it. Draft is not a given.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:09 pm
BUCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock star
April 21st, 2013 at 5:10 pm
@rasta we do have a lemon law……no guarantee money!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:10 pm
I think the agent took the picture because he tweeted it
April 21st, 2013 at 5:11 pm
And now the Clock is really ticking for the Pop-Star! Playoffs or bust, nothing else will be acceptable!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:11 pm
We have two corners that have to work for their money. Lovely!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:12 pm
I coined the name of the Corner Tandem earlier in the Summer when I predicted that we would keep Wright and sign Revis. The corner tandem is officially dubbed ” REVIS and BUTTHEAD” by Ramdog. “King’s Ransom” is a first and a 4th in 2014 (which could become a 3rd). Essentially peanuts for the best corner in the league.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:12 pm
The Bucs protected themselves, didn’t give up a lot and picked up one of the best defensive players in the NFL….Revis Island now resides in Tampa Bay! Great Job Coach Schiano and Mark Dominik!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:13 pm
@Lurker
I must of missed that.
This is great news. From everything Im reading Dom practically stole Revis from the Jets. As long as Revis is healthy and performs at the same level he use to, theres no denying Dom won this battle.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:13 pm
Looks like 6 year 96 mil. No guarrantees. First round this year and 3 or 4 next year, conditional.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:15 pm
Im usually hard on MARK. Today my hats off to him. What a quality job of negotiating and bringing in this outstanding player. Revis island is in Tampa Bay Baby. GO BUCS!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:17 pm
Forget Revis Island.. This Revis Bay now !
April 21st, 2013 at 5:18 pm
ha, just saw the ziti comment Joe, love it.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:18 pm
1st and a 3rd (essentially)…and NO guaranteed money? Wow, I’m impressed.
I was worried about the Bucs taking it hard, but it looks like the Jets GM is a little tender.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:19 pm
Still have SEVENTEEN million in cap room. THE DOMINATOR WINS AGAIN
April 21st, 2013 at 5:21 pm
I think its fair , maybe a good dt in the 2nd round then o lone in the third then qb in the 4….boom
April 21st, 2013 at 5:25 pm
We still have the picks this year. According to buccaneers.com, “To acquire the player known as “Revis Island,” the Buccaneers sent their first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft (#13 overall) plus a conditional 2014 draft pick to the New York Jets on Sunday.”
Its like getting a guy you know is great with our first pick. I’m stoked. Hope the rest of the draft is as good!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:25 pm
All the Dominik haters need to send him an apologize note with a sincere thank you!!!!!
He has committed felonies stealing a pick for Talib plus only giving up 1 pick this year and a conditional 4th or 3rd next year. Damn fine Job!
Now the Bucs grab a couple of corners and d line in the draft and pick up some veteran d line help with the second rounds of cuts coming up after draft…
Dominik is not perfect but not every draft pick or every free agent deal is going to be a future hall of fame inductee.
While I am ranting…. Freeman Just got a lot better today!!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:27 pm
I still think the rock star sneaks back in the 1st round
April 21st, 2013 at 5:28 pm
There it is
April 21st, 2013 at 5:33 pm
Interesting. not enthralled. I think the Bucs have set a precedent that will come back to haunt them when go to sign current players to longer term contracts.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:33 pm
I have to agree, the Bucs pulled off a great deal. I was afraid they were going to give away the farm but negotiated a super deal instead, congrats to Dom and the Coach now lets hope Mr. Revis comes back as good as ever.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:37 pm
Great deal i have been a bucs fan for years and have never been more excited than i am now. I will be purchasing season tickets and watching my team march to the playoffs.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:37 pm
@Demonion
Agreed!! That is an will always be a possibility with Dom. But I dont think we trade back up into the first unless theres a DT is there, which I dont see happening. Everybody keeps saying the talent is in the middle of the draft, then its more likely he stays put and sees what falls to us, or even trading down once to get some more picks.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:37 pm
Capt Tim
I am a screen printer in texas and a life long buc fan. I am printing dominik for presidents for shirt tonight….. I’ll post a link if Joe allows.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:41 pm
This is not a great deal. What are you people smoking? We gave up a first and a 3rd, and we don’t even know if he’s going to be able to perform as before. How is this a great deal? It may work out. If he plays up to his previous level, then a 1st and a 3rd is REASONABLE compensation AT BEST…. and that’s IF he’s up to par… There’s no great deal here. That’s 2 premium picks for a question mark.
Fire Dominik after the draft.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:42 pm
And we gave this up when no one was bidding against us…. Pathetic.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:43 pm
If Trufant and Jamar Taylor are both available by the time the Patriots come up to draft I could see us pulling a trade off. The Patriots love trading down. Our 2nd rounder and one or two other picks to swap with the Patriots and snag Trufant before the Falcons can get him
April 21st, 2013 at 5:46 pm
Curmudgeon NO GUARNTEED MONEY…. Dominik STOLE revis…. clean your crack pipe
April 21st, 2013 at 5:46 pm
I actually like the contract numbers. $16 million per year, but none of it guaranteed over 6 years. Bucs can cut him any year they wish.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:47 pm
From rotoworld
“The Jets received (only?) the No. 13 pick in this year’s draft and a conditional 2014 fourth-rounder that can escalate to a third-rounder based on whether Revis is on the Bucs’ roster on the third day of the 2014 league year. The fact that Revis accepted NO guaranteed money is shocking. The compensation isn’t quite what we anticipated either, making the Bucs the clear early winners of the Revis trade. Revis is obviously confident in the health of his reconstructed knee, so much so that going on age 28 he’s willing to gamble on himself, accepting a pay-as-you-go contract with large but non-guaranteed annual salaries of $13 million with $3M in bonus money each offseason. The Bucs could cut him as soon as 2014 if his recovery goes afoul. It’s truly fantastic maneuvering by Bucs GM Mark Dominik.”
April 21st, 2013 at 5:47 pm
@Curmudgeon
They gave up a first and a fourth for the best cb in the league. If he is still on the team next year it becomes a 3rd. If Revis fails we owe him no money. We can cut him at any point. What exactly is your fault in this trade? You do realize that first and third round picks fail all the time right? So those are question marks. Revis is a proven talent, coming off an injury which has a ridiculous success rate.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:48 pm
So what did Atlanta give to take Julio Jones? Redskins to take griffin? We gave less to take the best Defensive player in the league.
Phenomenal Move… ACL’s are like high ankle sprains in modern sports. They got them down to a science. He’ll be fine. If not, nothing guaranteed means it doesn’t hamper us for years.
#Rockstar
April 21st, 2013 at 5:49 pm
Curmudgeon, it’s a 4th next year that may turn into a 3rd. And it could have been worse. Reports were that it would be 3 picks…this year.
I was against this, but considering the contract Revis got, I like it. Worth the risk.
Remember, he had to pass two physicals (Jets & Bucs).
April 21st, 2013 at 5:51 pm
great deal!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 5:54 pm
Slap in face of every fan who has consistently trashed Dom and our administration.how can u not like the guy?! He brings our fans exactly what they want! He has made great calls.look at his track record, freeman,McCoy,mike Williams,clayborn,bowers,barron,Martin,David and the guy went out and got vjackson,nicks,goldson,and now revis! 24-40 record isn’t soma fault! It was poor coaching and offensive coordinating.sounds like one if the best gms any team could hope for.all the hypocrites who don’t like Dom obviously aren’t Buc fans…plenty of other teams out there gents.thanks to our FO for making great moves in this franchise and thanks joe for the updates
April 21st, 2013 at 5:54 pm
I’ll mark this as a will for Dominick. Even if it fails, we can cut Revis. First and Thirds are hit and miss anyway.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:55 pm
Rock Star for President!!! What a team friendly contract with ZERO guaranteed and Dom only gae up this year’s 1st and a conditional 4th possibly 3rd rounder next year. Genius. Effing genius. Im sofa king pumped.
April 21st, 2013 at 5:55 pm
Curmudgeon is an idiot
April 21st, 2013 at 6:00 pm
We’re cursed when it comes to drafting cornerbacks, so we may as well trade for them. That said, we’ll still be drafting a corner in the top half of this draft, I would assume Schiano targets Logan Ryan.
The value this year at 13 is about equal to decent years low/mid-20’s picks. The top of this draft is pitiful anyway, we would have had to give up more to try and trade up for Milliner and he hasn’t played a down in the NFL yet.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:01 pm
I’m glad that Dominik didn’t strangle us with a ton of guaranteed money, but that salary is pretty high, and odds are in future years they will reneg his salary to push some guaranteed money into future years… On the whole, I guess the contract doesn’t bother me.
But to those who think ACL injuries are like high ankle sprains, I think you’re underestimating the severity. Yes, Adrian Peterson recovered extremely well, but that doesn’t guarantee the same for every player. Just don’t be ignorant — this is still a risky deal… AND WE WERE BIDDING AGAINST NOBODY!!! And the Jets were motivated to trade…
If things don’t turn out then we “only” lose a #1 and a #4 pick… And that’s supposed to sit well?
I won’t be celebrating until Revis is on the field at 100%.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:02 pm
Essentially, Revis has a year-to-year prove-it contract.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:02 pm
Its a win win ladies and gentlemen. Tonight we celebrate. Party at my house.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:05 pm
Ill b in Tampa nxt week can’t wait!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 6:05 pm
@DjoshFreeman
Name-calling? Really? Look in the mirror dude.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:05 pm
So we have Revis. We have Goldson. We still have Wright (sigh) and we’ll likely draft a CB in the 3rd round this year. I’m assuming our 2nd will go on a DT unless we get one in a trade somehow.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:06 pm
Don’t forget, Dominick could trade back into the first again.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:09 pm
@ Curmudgeon
Those are all fair concerns that you have, I can respect that.
I’m scared sh!tless of him playing at all in the preseason. I’m praying he doesn’t touch the field until week 1 against his old team.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:09 pm
This used to be a devastating injury. When an ACL tears, it does not heal. Unlike most other ligaments, the ACL never has the opportunity to mend due to its position and role in the knee — it’s very much like a rubber band. That’s why this is a forever kind of injury. It used to end athletic participation both on the professional and recreational level. Now with arthroscopic surgery and proper strengthening and rehabilitation techniques, the future is much brighter. National results show a 96 to 98 percent return to sport. Recovery still takes six months and is economically demanding and involves an operation, but it’s no longer career-ending.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:09 pm
Dominick should rework GMC now…it would free up space for Freeman next year…and we have the room to get it done.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:10 pm
@stevek
Where are you now? Huh? Chirping for weeks about how Dominik has to close this deal or he’s out of a job. Come on man, show your face!
Not only did Dominik close the deal, he did it for fewer and lower picks than anyone thought it would take to get it done.
And, on top of that, he gets Revis locked up for 6, count ’em, 6 freaking years with NO GUARANTEED MONEY. He can be cut at the end of any season the Bucs choose without any cap hit for the remaining years of the contract. It’s basically a year-to-year prove-it deal that forces Revis to perform to get his money.
How much better could Dominik have done? He pulled it off and he did it in style. Now the naysayers can shut their face-holes and get back to being real Bucs fans for a change.
Rock star. Damn right.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:12 pm
All I’m saying is it’s a lot to give up when (a) the guy’s physical readiness is not certain, and (b) there was nobody bidding against us… nobody… nobody… get that… nobody bidding against us.
Now, I’m optimistic. I believe that they believe he’ll be ready. And if he plays up to his previous standard, he’s worth a 1st and 3rd round pick… but that remains to be seen and the compensation should’ve reflected that… I’m optimistic, but I still think we gave the Jets more than we really needed to given the lack of competing bidders.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:14 pm
Plus this allows us to finally put to rest the stupidity of talking about Tavon Austin. Finally. What a bizarro world of complete fantasy that was.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:14 pm
MR ROCK STAR….
INCREDIBLE JOB !! You didn’t get punked like so many people said you would . no one can talk that sh%t about Big Dom now. He got the best player available in the 2013 NFL draft and he will find a way to get back in that first round …trust!.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:17 pm
@curmudgeon
Not sure what you mean, the d is silent…and yea my bad that was a little harsh, shouldve just said my peace and left the trash talk on the side, o well it is America! Thank god for free speech…that aside today is one of celebration!
April 21st, 2013 at 6:17 pm
With no gauranteed money. I guess it comes down to, a decision every off season. Is Revis worth 15.75 Million per? Great to see him take this deal. I think it show’s a lot of confidence signing for huge money. With no gauranteed money. Basically saying “I’m the best and my play will make me uncuttable”. Even at just shy of 16M per
April 21st, 2013 at 6:17 pm
Anybody log on to Buccaneer.com? I think they’re pretty happy over there!
April 21st, 2013 at 6:18 pm
Curmudgeon, we had to close the deal so the Jets didn’t hold onto him and let him hit FA next year when other teams would have cap room and be in the mix. I’m very happy with the deal. I do see this lasting two years, Revis will not like having no guaranteed money and will sit out for a restructure…but today I’m happy! DT in the 2nd round!
April 21st, 2013 at 6:19 pm
Imagine if we traded back into the first and got eifert,trufant,Hayden, or we can wait for Ryan or short. Is it possible that we can make it to the Super Bowl this year? I know that’s a big statement. Buuuut revis,Barron,goldson,wright,(barber),lj,David,foster,Castillos,McCoy,bowers,ac,Jackson,Williams,Martin,free,nicks,zuttah,penn,Joseph, sorry got kind of carried away, don’t think I’ve ever been able to list that many great players on the bucs roster. At least not since 02!!!!
April 21st, 2013 at 6:20 pm
Nobody bid against us cuz we were top dog and no one could outbid us
April 21st, 2013 at 6:21 pm
@Curmudgeon
You’re forgetting that there actually was a competing bidder: the Jets. Below a certain level of compensation I’m sure they were ready to keep the best cornerback in the entire NFL playing for them for another year.
If this happened, the Bucs probably would NOT have gotten to sign Revis next year. Teams would’ve prepared for the Revis sweepstakes by clearing cap space after 2013 in anticipation. Plus Revis would’ve had his choice of teams on an open market and likely wouldn’t have chosen the Bucs.
Just because you’re the only bidder besides the current team doesn’t mean you get a steal. NFL general managers aren’t that weak or stupid. There was NEVER a possibility that Revis was going to get traded for less than a 2013 pick plus another pick. Never. Percy Harvin set the market for a game-changing star this offseason and the Revis deal was very close to the Harvin deal in overall value.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:21 pm
curmudgeon said:
“I won’t be celebrating until Revis is on the field at 100%.”
you wouldn’t be celebrating a playoff win, either.
some people love to be miserable.
also, there is no way they were getting him without giving up a first rounder. it doesn’t matter who else was or wasn’t bidding. you must have been one who thought “just give up a second and that’s it!” that would not have worked no matter what your wishing.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:22 pm
@FLboy in Dallas. Well said! Agree 100%
April 21st, 2013 at 6:32 pm
At least we didn’t get stuck with Sancheez.
I think this played out as well as it could have. I think both teams did well here and that is how things are suppose to work.
I can see Dom maybe going after one of the FA Dlinemen still out there, now that this is done.
April 21st, 2013 at 6:32 pm
BuccaneerBonzai, just what I have been thinking!! Got the ammo. Not sure who they would target–Eifert maybe??
April 21st, 2013 at 6:34 pm
Props to Dominik for pulling this deal off. I was a little apprehensive when I first heard the trade was going through because I just knew we were going to give away too many high picks to the Jets and pay Revis too much. After hearing what we gave and the non-guaranteed, long-term deal Revis got, I’m excited. We still have cap room and we kept enough high draft picks in this draft to address some of the needs we still have. Go Bucs!!!

@DjoshFreeman
You need to be careful about who you accuse of being an idiot if this is your idea of intelligent analysis: “Nobody bid against us cuz we were top dog and no one could outbid us”…. Seriously. Wrong. There were no other suitors because no one else could pay him and because he was coming off an ACL injury. That should’ve given us a bit more leverage than it apparently did.
@FLBoyInDallas
Harvin wasn’t coming off an ACL injury… So the trade compensation comparison doesn’t really fly.
@lurker-
Don’t be a dick.
To sum up… If Revis comes back to play at his previous level, then this is a fair deal… a FAIR deal… but lets not start beating off yet… If the ACL turns out to be problematic, this is a terrible deal… So, I’m optimistic Revis will play well and make this a worthwhile trade, but even if that happens, this isn’t some kind of a steal like some people are trying to characterize it. It is potentially a fair deal with a huge downside… but I’m hoping for the best.

Ertz in the 2nd badger in th 3rd and a DT in the 4th

I saw somewhere that the 49er’s tried to hop in at the end but couldn’t figure out a way to clear enough cap space to compete with us.
I’m guessing Dominik got wind of that and told the Jets that this was his final offer and if they didn’t take it by this deadline that the Bucs would move on.
I’m nervous as hell like some other guys on here, but given the return that we could get on those draft picks right now instead of waiting for a rookie to develop, I think the risk was worth it. Obviously time will have to tell.

Bucs fan from Eastern PA and you have no idea how excited I am to make the drive to the Meadowlands Week 1 wearing my brand new Revis jersey. Dom just robbed the Jets.

@Curmudgeon
One thing you might not of realize but if the Bucs didn’t get him now they probably wouldn’t of got him in free agency. Dallas and Redskins will have around 30 million under the cap once their penalties are over next year, and will bid for Revis service. It was either now or never even though they were “bidding against themselves”

Have to say this eases the mind greatly.. I actually like the job Dom and staff have been doing. It was for me just a matter of too many picks. Dom again has surprised and surpassed. Go Bucs !
April 21st, 2013 at 6:55 pm
Great signing….how about signing Clabo now at RT and using our other draft choices for Dline and depth at linebacker and CB!
April 21st, 2013 at 6:57 pm
Agree that it does look like a very good deal. Only those 2 picks – and only one this year. And no guranteed $. Now, please focus on getting a great DT. I thought that would be number 13. Perhaps a trade for a star?

@Sneedy-
I recognize that full well… and it’s “might not have” not “might not of”…
April 21st, 2013 at 7:04 pm
lol @ curmudgeon. look at your name moron, I can call you miserable since you call yourself irritable and stubborn, the definition of curmudgeon. would crotchety work better for you?
you call it a fair trade if he rebounds. that is your lame-assed opinion which has no more merit than any other poster’s. I think it was better than fair for a top defender and number 1 cb in the nfl. if he wasn’t injured, it would have been for a lot more.
again, some people like to be miserable. I would say you’re the dick for trying to spread your negativity you piece of useless crap.
April 21st, 2013 at 7:06 pm
Boy, this really makes me happy!! I have been stressed all day, fearing Dom would mortgage the farm on this deal!!
April 21st, 2013 at 7:09 pm
Opening day Sep 8, 1:00 Jets -v- Bucs, How pissed do you think those Jets fans are going to be to see Revis in Pewter. Love this trade. Well done Rock Star! Now Schiano, its on you big boy, make the Bucs relevant again and get us out of the NFC South cellar and into the playoffs. Can’t wait for Sep 8!

@Curmudgeon
Ok English teacher. I did not ask to be corrected so don’t do it.
April 21st, 2013 at 7:15 pm
I told you guys Dom would make us smile, were are all you haters now!Bucs super bowl champs 2002 and 2013!
April 21st, 2013 at 7:21 pm
Not really happy about this deal. I believe that Revis will hold out every year for a new deal. Did we inherit a new HOF player or another problem?
April 21st, 2013 at 8:05 pm
@lurker-
You don’t know a damn thing about me and you’re diagnosing me. Nice job. You, in fact, were being a dick for your comments towards me, and I was stating concerns/opinions about the trade. And you went a step further in your final comment which was completely unwarranted… which further demonstrates you, being a dick, in response to my opinions. Speaks well for you. Go pound sand.
April 21st, 2013 at 8:48 pm
@curmudgeon
Lurker wasn’t being a dick, he was reacting…and furthermore, no one in the league could offer as much money as us which is what i meant by top dog.i read all posts, sometimes you make great points but today youre negative nancy.this is a great trade! we got him for way less than we thought.how can you not grasp that or even be open to it? are you curmudgeon, cuz if so xanax or smoking weed helps.
anyone can say what they want in this forum and in this country, the whole damn point is to offer opinion and disagree with others.so plug your butts, grow a sack, and stop taking everything personal you pansy asses
@bucobruce
Damn well said my man!

@DJoshFreeman-
I think if you read most of my comments, I also mention being optimistic, despite balking at the price. And I can see that (if Revis is healthy) this is a a good move for us… and I was just questioning the wisdom of the price without any competing bidders. Anyway, I don’t wish to drag this out any further. We’ve got him now and what’s done is done. It’s great to have a player of his caliber on our team. Hope he’s ready to go and play up to his high standards.

Smiling!!!!!!

So NOW everyone loves Dom huh? :>) The guy has been bringing the talent. If we would have had Revis last year we would have been 10-6. Now with Revis and Goldson…..who knows. I think our defense is going to be scary good.
