Davin Joseph “Biased” With Josh Freeman

In a scene that eerily reminded Joe of last year in the Bucs locker room on an otherwise nondescript weekday, when receiver Mike Williams launched into a passionate defense of Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman, guard Davin Joseph offered another passionate defense of the embattled Bucs quarterback today.
Only with Joseph, who is about as even-keeled as an NFL player can be, his voice didn’t rise or his speech quicken like Williams’ did.
“Everybody has to do their job and we have the quarterback to take us to the next level,” the oft-smiling Joseph said today at the podium at One Buc Palace.
When asked why he thought Josh was “The Guy” to have as quarterback, Joseph was adamant.
“I am biased,” Joseph answered with his trademark beaming smile. Freeman is “my friend, my teammate. Of course, I’m biased. The thing that will make Josh ‘The Guy’ is the team. The team will make him ‘The Guy.’ It’s the defense doing what the defense is supposed to do. Special teams making plays. Offensive line blocking, receivers catching, running backs running. Everything will make Josh ‘The Guy.’
“Look at the Super Bowl, it wasn’t the two best quarterbacks in the league, it was the two best teams in the league. So Josh’s success will come with the team, just like every other quarterback. Peyton Manning didn’t make it to the Super Bowl. Tom Brady didn’t make it to the Super Bowl. It is about the best team.
“I defend Josh a lot because I feel like everybody wants to point to him but it’s the team, the organization, it’s the coaches, it is everybody.
“I know Josh is ‘The Guy’ because I know everything we need to win is here. When it comes together, we will be praising Josh with the MVP trophy, but it is a team sport.”
Yes, Joseph is correct. Teams win championships. Freeman will not always be on his A-game each week, just like linebackers and linemen and running backs will struggle at times.
That is why for the Bucs to be playing January football, Freeman also needs to be a bit more consistent and not go for sometimes weeks playing like an inexperienced backup.

Joseph and Freeman are teammates. Of course he’s going to defend him in an interview – whether he means it or not.

I think he means it, and that was very well said. Biased or not, the dude makes some really good points.
The defense lost us 4th quarter leads last year, if the secondary and the defense could have held on for 2-3 more games, we would have been playoff bound

@Jrock, you are so correct. It seems as though Joe and some others on here do not want to admit that. Josh played well enough for the bucs to have made the playoffs. As Joseph said, the “team” did not.

In my book, Josh still is inconsistent , inaccurate , afraid to run the ball, can’t look off receivers , blames others for his mistakes and easily distracted from the seriousness of playing winning football( photo shoot last year and lead our team in a downward slide). It’s not all about making more money Josh. Prove you are a winner and you will get paid more.
Surrogate promoters will not get the job done on the field. Time to prove he’s worth a resigning. More of the same will continue to overshadow any other thing. Time to BUC up Josh.

Joseph left off imposing defensive players dropping passes from Josh. That would help too.

I’m still waiting for Freeman to speak to the media the way McCoy did. He knows this is HIS defense, Freeman needs to regain that 2010 confidence and make it HIS offense.
We all know he can play extremely well at times, but like @Vic66 said he needs get better at looking off receivers and work on accuracy- which will come this year with improved foot-work( hopefully)

Once the defense and Freeman play more consistent this team will go to the playoffs. Freeman had 3 or 4 bad games the pass defense had 16 bad games.

No one can win with our secondary. No one.
Josh has the Skills to be a SuperBowl Qb. The uneducated blame all good and bad on the QB.

Everyone keeps harping about consistent. Who are these consistent Qbs out there? Alex Smith?
Here is a list of names that threw 4 interception games last year
Josh Freeman
Tom Brady
Drew Brees
Matt Ryan
Here are some who threw at least 3 ints a game
Peyton Manning
Eli Manning
Joe Flacco, Super Bowl MVP, was known for multiple INT/fumble games. He was nevery known as the model of consistency
Who are some recent NFL Hall of Famer QBs that are models of consistency?
If you look at 2012 stats, Josh Freeman has almost identical numbers to Eli Manning.
To each his own, but I’d rather have a QB who takes chances and that may make bonehead plays from time to time over a game manager who does just enough to make you want more.
In my completely worthless opinion, consistency is overrated.

We had some amazing offensive games last year. When the get all the pistons firing like they should, its going to be epic!
Just having Davin back is going to make us that much better.

Bucs super bowl bound 2013!They will finish the season 12-5or 11-5 and get really hot with a run game no one can stop,and because of that it will open everything up for Freeman who will win his first playoff game the same year he wins a super bowl!

The Buc’s lost 9 games last year because to porris O-lne play. A weak pass rush,below average TE,linebacker’s weak vs the pass,horrible corner play,average safety’s,inconsistant slot receiver play,questionable playcalling (both OC and DC). And last but not least a QB who choked when we needed him most. Only ones getting the pass WR1,WR2,RB1,DT1 Lavonte David of coarse and Schiano

No matter which way you sling mud, Davin is correct. If the defense does its job, we would have been playing in January. That said, this is a no doubt, no B.S., no additional “make or break” years, donezo do or die year for Freeman. He has incredible tools. I’m sure we will have a T.E. to add to the talent and we will have our full O Line back. Regardless of what happens with Revis and this defense, Freeman better close games next year because his job is riding on it. By all reports, Schiano isn’t sold on Freeman. Why should he be?

Many like myself question the existance of said nutsack.
I went to the last three games at RJS. Freeman isn’t exactly a fan favorite.
