Darrelle Revis MRI Update

April 15th, 2013

“SalPal,” Sal Paolantonio of ESPN, one of the few credible journalists Joe respects from the four-letter outfit, has an update on the results of Darelle Revis’ MRI this morning.

Earlier, SalPal noted the Jets have hit the “pause button” on trade talks with the Bucs, which sort of reinforces what Bucs general manager Mark Dominik told Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan of SiriusXM NFL Radio last month, and what Woody Cummings of The Tampa Tribune reported last night on WFLA-TV — that the Bucs really don’t know if Revis is on the trading block.

    Story… must… die.

  2. Jacko101 Says:

Revis is a Jet not a Buc, we should ALL start treating him as a Jet.

  3. Drew Says:

No Revis news is good news.

  4. stevek Says:

What? Are we making the 2013 NFL playoffs? That is all that matters.

Revis or not, we better come out and make the playoffs this year.

It is time for Mr. Dominick to be a “rock star” at his job, winning.

  5. MR.T Says:

What exactly is the update on his MRI is the knee ok or not, it wasn’t stated.

  6. ctord Says:

I once had blind faith in Dominick but now I am realizing that he is a better checker player than chess.

  7. Vic Says:

@Mr. T. — MRI update is in there, says Revis healing is ahead of schedule

  8. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    I don’t see an mri update…

  9. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Wow…I just heard about the Boston Marathon Bombings. Prayers go out.

  10. Terraj Says:

Joe, I have a serious question for you…
How bad of a trade would it have to be by Dominik for you to stop calling him rock star? lol If he gives up our 1st, 3rd, 4th? Factor in the fact that we still dont know if Revis can cut and be the same player..and the fact that “rock star” is going to give him too much money, like he does every other player the bucs have signed.

Ive always supported Dominik even when he’s made questionable moves, but this offseason I think he’s screwed up and hes trying to save it with this move. I hope im wrong. Id like to see the Bucs have a pick in the 1st round.

  11. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Joe…call him Super Duper Rock Star just to bug people 😉

  12. Bucky23 Says:

Does anybody know if the NFL still plans on releasing the schedules tomorrow?

  13. Mike M Says:

Keep in mind that it was the Jets team doctors that administered and read the MRI. Are we getting a non-biased report. I would insist if I were the Bucs management that an independent non-invested agency review the results.

  14. Illuminati Says:

    @Mike M

Jets doctors didn’t administer or read the MRI, it was done at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. Revis didn’t use Jets’ docs for his surgery, he actually used the Giants’ team physician, Dr. Russell Warren.

I’m sure Jets’ doctors will review the MRI results also. But any early news about results today would be coming from Revis and his agent. I would have to assume Bucs’ docs would review the MRI when trade talks get moving again.

  15. Lev Says:

I heard Idzik farted today, clear sign that the Jets want to trade Revis to Tampa

  16. stevek Says:

We will get the deal done. The 13th selection is just too juicy to pass up for the Jets. They will come to their senses.

We will than pay the crap out of Revis, and in turn he will make us a playoff team.

  17. ContraryBucsfan Says:

Kinda OT…whether we sign Revis or trade up for Millner, Wright is not a good 2nd CB. Why not sign former Jets & Cardinals DB Kerry Rhodes? His career numbers aren’t bad:

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RhodKe20.htm

He’s talking with the Bengals but listening to other offers. The Bucs need a cornerback more than the Bengals – they are loaded on D! And it’s un-PC to say this, but with the recent rumors about his personal life, he may be willing to take a lesser deal to play this year.

  18. Jacko101 Says:

    Stevek

Just out luck we won’t get Revis just for the simple fact we want him too bad. Everything Dom said he wouldn’t do he changed his mind he painted himself in a corner it’s going to be a sight to see him try and get out. He screwed himself by going against his own philosophy Handle in house players and he let them all go. He can’t explain how no CB in FA could have helped us and how they all signed elsewhere for peanuts.

  19. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Sam Shields could be had for a second rounder.

  20. BOb Says:

    Kerry rhodes is a safety

  21. BOb Says:

    And hes 100 years old

  22. kenny Says:

forget revis!! Draft Trufant, then grab the kid from Houston in the 2nd. Both will be immediate upgrades. Build through the draft!!!! I would love revis, its not the picks that I care about, its his contract that would kill the team.

  23. Architek Says:

    Pass

  24. bucthis Says:

Joe? moderator? anyone? oh, don’t get Revis…get Star or Richardson and McCoy could be an MVP assuming Bucs have a winning record.

  25. lurker Says:

    seriously?!?

what are you offering nister anonymous? obviously how to be an internet toughguy…

  26. Mike Says:

    Joe,
I’m interested in your opinion with this Revis situation and how it’s been handled. I feel this is a knee jerk move on doms’s part. He knows that he’s on the hot seat and has to make this all-in move (as compared to having signed other less talented corners) to best our chances of making the playoffs THIS year. However, I’m worried this will cost us in the long run. Paying that much money to a guy not throwing the ball seems untraditional, as none of the elite teams pay a non-qb that kind of money. I reflect on the bills paying Mario Williams or the skins paying haynesworth all that money, and neither team is very good. What class of teams are we putting ourselves in when we spend that money on a corner? Especially with consideration to the fact that we have sooooo many deficiencies still left on the team; and as seen with dom’s lack of necessary aggressiveness this off season, it’s evident he has focused only on Revis. The cost of draft picks + a $15 million price tag, means we’re really abandoning the future of this team! I’m concerned. So while Dom may or may not be all-in this season, we will be stuck in a bad situation when and if he leaves. I want REvis on this team, but not at the cost he comes at… Why pay the jets so much for his services for one year when we can make the same play on him next off season. Still the same situation as no one but us can afford to have him on the books, but less having to sacrifice the draft picks. The antie is so high when were the only ones vying for him

    Joe,
You are are a talentless DOUCHEBAG with no balls!!

    Keep sucking Dom’s dick!

  29. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Sneedy, quoting it might not be the best of ideas, lol.

  30. Tomcin Says:

Tell Jets to take Revis & shove it.

  31. BirdDoggers Says:

The longer this goes on the more I want Dominik to walk away. I wasn’t a fan of the trade in the first place, but at least I could talk myself into the benefits of making it happen. The biggest problems are the draft pick compensation and the knee. It’s a lot to give up for a guy that might not be the same player. Let the Jets keep Revis and see how he plays this year. Keep the draft picks and go after him in free agency next year.

    “Joe,
I’m interested in your opinion with this Revis situation…”

I’m not Joe, but I’ll talk about it with you. I think Dominick is handling this entire thing perfectly. I don’t believe he intends getting Revis unless he can be had with an amazing deal. But also that he is allowing the drama to continue because it distracts people from something he may do in the draft.

Just look at the media Mocks out there. How many actually have the Bucs taking a CB with the 13th pick? All of them should, but they are not.

Although, it would not surprise me if Dominick does the unexpected and goes with RT…which is being predicted by no one.

I know it’s hard this time of year, but things will clarify for us all within 3-4 weeks. (a couple weeks after the draft)

It is ALL smoke and mirrors at this time of the year. Even the players signed. Just watch how many recent signings are released after the draft. GMs try to use as much misdirection as they can leading up to the draft.

And that is also why there is a second phase to Free Agency. Some teams fully intend to release certain players, but to do so would telegraph their draft plans, so they wait until after the draft.

And the same goes for signings. Dallas Clark has not resigned. It’s possible the Bucs plan to resign him, but are waiting until after the draft so that teams think they might go with a TE.

Same with Ronde. I think he’ll sign in less than a week after the draft.
