Darrelle Revis Could Prove Eric Wright’s Worth
April 15th, 2013Saturday morning during the “Weekend Kickoff,” co-hosted by Howard David and Amani Toomer, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, a Bucs fan called to ask whether Eric Wright and Darrelle Revis in the Bucs secondary would become the top pair of corners in the NFL.
Toomer wasn’t sure how to answer that, but he did note Bucs fans will find out soon enough just how good of a corner Wright is if Revis comes to Tampa Bay.
“I don’t know how great Eric Wright has been throughout his career but he is a corner they have wanted for some time down there. And if they get Darrelle Revis, we will get to see how good Eric Wright is, I’ll tell you that. Because [opponents] will not be throwing the ball at Revis. They will be throwing the ball at Wright. He’s going to get a lot of opportunities to show how really good he is.”
That’s a helluva point by Toomer. If Revis is fully recovered from his ACL surgery, quarterbacks are going to test Wright play after play after play, assuming Wright makes the team and is a starter.
How w0uld the Bucs combat this? Well, with Revis and safeties Dashon Goldson and Mark Barron, Joe’s going to guess that Bill Sheridan, the Bucs defensive coordinator, would roll some coverage over toward Wright’s side of the field.

Im not so sure QBs wont go right at Revis all day till he shows he is back to form. Even healthy he could be rusty. If Revis comes to Tampa I wouldnt cross off one side of the field just yet. Revis will have alot to prove.

Burnt repeatedly…
Roll Barron to Wright’s side…and they’ll both get burnt repeatedly anyway.

I’ll only remind us, when Write wasn’t using (reportedly Aderal) we were winning, when he was suspended – we plummeted. The man has taken a horrendous blow to his future and financial security, how much blood will it take for him to pay his debt?
I say, give him a chance to redeem himself and show us that he can truly be a Buccaner Man.

Wright had that guaranteed/non-guaranteed re: suspension language written into his contract, correct?
So, he knowingly risked millions, twice already, correct? First with the DUI arrest, then with the adderall.
So, yeah, sounds like a reliable guy. It was a “mistake”.

If the Bucs land Revis, which would be cool, we will see just how good he is. The real deal is Drew Brees and I hate him so. He is awesome and will test any secondary. I don’t fear Ice or Cam or any of those QB’s, just Brees. He so rarely misses and hits such tight windows. I’ll take Revis for sure but if I could have any player in the NFL it would be Drew Brees. He would have won the Superbowl with this team at least twice. I hate him.
