Sapp Next In The Ring?
March 22nd, 2013Joe knows eye-RAH! Kaufman of The Tampa Tribune just parked himself in front of Team Glazer for a half hour or so at the NFL owners meetings in Arizona this week. So Joe’s figuring Kaufman might have special insight behind his bold claim about the next Bucs Ring of Honor inductee.
Via Twitter today, Kaufman told his minions to expect Warren Sapp to follow Lee Roy Selmon, John McCay, Jimmy Giles and Paul Gruber into the beloved Ring.
@IKaufmanTBO – Not much suspense surrounding the next member of the Bucs Ring of Honor. Expect new Hall of Fame inductee Warren Sapp to be the 5th man in
Joe’s fine with the choice of Sapp, if Team Glazer goes that direction.
Joe likes the old-school-first approach, but it would be cool to have Sapp in the Ring on the heels his Hall of Fame induction in August.
Might “Warren Sapp Day” prompt a sellout in Tampa? After the fan response to the 10-year Super Bowl anniversary game last season, Joe believes it would.

I hope so.
March 22nd, 2013 at 5:05 pm
Joe, please don’t ever bring up that 10th year anniversary game again. Ever.
March 22nd, 2013 at 5:38 pm
Marcus Jones would love to see Sapp in the ring.
Great player, horrible person.

brooks\dungy doubleheader next year if they both get the first ballot HOF nod. man i can’t wait to see players and coaches of that caliber, in their prime, suiting up for the bucs again. we have some players who are starting to look the part but not quite there yet.

Sapp in the ring, you bet. Most entertaining Buc ever. Practiced like he played. All the ‘fans’ who don’t like him? He isnt OJ, he isn’t Vick, so he threw a lot of money at women and cars. The list is very long on that one.

Word is Ronde has decided to play again. We should see an announcement in the next few days, if not sooner.
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:27 pm
Hey Joe. I know its not a good place for this but can you make a mobile app of your website?
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:28 pm
I think Sapp should be in the Ring, but after Derrick Brooks. Better player, better for the community and more deserving, HOF or not. Derrick Brooks is the Ultimate Buc, always has been, always will be. He has my vote for next entry, not Sapp. Sapp was a Raider, Brooks was a Buc.
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:30 pm
Give the man his dues for the job he did at football. He played his heart out and his arse off for the Buccaneers!
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:40 pm
I go with the old school names early too….
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:42 pm
Best thing that ever happened to Warren Sapp was signing Simeon Rice. Best thing that ever happened to Simeon Rice was playing on the same DLine as Sapp. Besides Sapp and Selmon, Rice was best ever defensive lineman who played for Tampa Bay.
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:47 pm
Big Mac, Im cool on everything until Sapp was a Raider? Come on man, come on.
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:50 pm
Sapp a raider? No way dood. Bucs gave the money to Booger and nothing Sapp could do, he had to play somewhere!
March 22nd, 2013 at 8:52 pm
What Ed said. The most forgotten great Dline guys Rice is first on the list followed by the dependable Mr. Spires.
March 22nd, 2013 at 9:43 pm
Great player…..ASS Breath of a person
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:24 pm
I knew that would ruffle a few feathers. I recant. Haha
March 22nd, 2013 at 10:40 pm
I think they should do Sapp, Brooks, and Lynch together
March 22nd, 2013 at 11:22 pm
I think Doug Williams should go next, but I’m good with Sapp.
March 23rd, 2013 at 12:29 am
I’m wondering if Dunn will ever be part of the Ring of Honor.
March 23rd, 2013 at 12:34 am
The Bucs had to put Sapp in the Ring of Honor. How could he be elected to the Hall of Fame and not be one of the best Bucs ever?!?
March 23rd, 2013 at 7:52 am
That’s McKay Mr. Joe…..
Sapp is deserving but I would love to see Doug next.
March 23rd, 2013 at 9:24 am
IMHO the hall of fame is only for those with exemplary stats and numbers. a ring of honor induction should represent both the numbers AND great character in and around the community he played for. I would feel disgusted if I walked into the stadium and had to see his name enshrined up there all the while knowing how awful he treated almost every living soul he came in contact with. FWIW I feel the same about Pete Rose, numbers wise he belongs in HOF. any other “honors” forget about it!
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:37 am
Sapp as a hof er should make the ring however old bucs first. Doug Williams James Wilder et al.
But sapp is ok as a modern buc as he is in the hof or will be
March 23rd, 2013 at 2:57 pm
Hardy should go next, but I’m cool with Sapp.
March 23rd, 2013 at 8:56 pm
I doubt Hardy would ever make it in the ring.

BUXFAN11
That is your definition and opinon.
I do not like Sapp. He is a poor excuse of a human.
BUT…….. as for his play on the feild and what he meant to the Bucs as a player, he deserves to be in the ring.
I am all for going with another old timer and doing Sapp, Lunch, and Brooks togeth
Prior to them they need to do Dungy and Kiffin
