Mike Smith Talks Brent Grimes
February 22nd, 2013Dixie Chicks coach Mike Smith just took the podium at the NFL Scouting Combine and Joe, knowing Bucs fans have a keen interest in the status of Dixie Chicks free agent cornerback Brent Grimes, asked Smith how Grimes’ rehab is coming along.
Grimes suffered a season-ending, Week 1 Achilles injury last season.
“Brent Grimes has been doing an outstanding job working with our athletic performance department, working in the training room,” Smith said. “He is progressing well. That was a significant injury that took place in Kansas City on opening weekend. But he is progressing well. The turnaround for that is usually somewhere around nine months.
“He has not been out working outside. He is still working in the training room and progressing very well.”
When Joe asked if the Dixie Chicks would slap Grimes with a franchise tag, Smith sort of chuckled, not in a happy way, and said, “Guys, I’m not going to talk about the franchise tag in terms of what we may do there.”
So the mystery of Grimes and his health and his free agency status continues, but this won’t stop many Bucs fans who yearn for Grimes to play home games at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

Didn’t Bowers come back in 6 months from his Achillees? Grimes beyond that and he can’t run on grass?

The longer the rehab, the cheaper it is for Dominik to sign him.

I am not sold on Grimes. I am terrified that the bucs will adhere to the philosophy desperate people do desperate things and reach for a potential home run.
Please stay away from injury risk players. More or less anything is a upgrade from what we had last yet.
The more I think about it stay away from Revis and other “High Priced” corners and get a couple of vets and develop a second or third rounder. I’d like to see the bucs trade that first round pick not sure value chart but an extra second and third round pick would be far more valuable in the long term than pick 13.
Living a legal marijuana state one of our local dispensaries is listing their “All Weed Team” consisting of NFL players. I obviously reminded the owner of Tampa Bay’s weed kings in Jeremy Stevens and Tanard Jackson. I took the time to point out the shear amount of (millions) that Tanard lost in the search for the ultimate hippy lettuce. I suggested Tanard be named captain but I believe Kenny Stabler is the leading vote getter so far.
