Mike Williams Is Keyshawn’s No. 1

If Keyshawn Johnson was throwin’ the damn ball for the Bucs, he’d be eyeballing Mike Williams before Vincent Jackson.
Speaking on the Booger and Rich show on 98.7 FM this week, the man who caught 106 balls for the Bucs in 2001 says his prefers the film on Williams.
“They’re making plays. They’re going and getting the football. I like Williams better than I like Jackson,” Johnson said of the Bucs’ receivers. “I think Williams has the ability to just make plays all the time. When it looks like he’s not going to catch the football, he goes up and he gets it, he catches the ball in traffic. He’s just a solid playmaker to me. But Jackson, it helps him because of his height advantage. I think his size and his height advantage, you know, especially in the red zone, gives him that size advantage that you’re looking for in a receiver.”
Joe, too, is impressed by the versatility and the wow factor of Williams. Hell, the guy’s first career touchdown grab was spectacular and unique. Of course, the body control all starts on the basketball court for Williams, who’s been known to fly around the court.

Before the Vikings game Keyshawn was talking about how the Vikings have a “gimme” game this week playing the Bucs and then spent the next few minutes talking about who they play the week after. Like the Bucs were so bad that they were just an afterthought. This was on game night. Ditka looked at him like he was out of his friggin’ mind.

Mike is sort of like Roddy White. Because of his quickness more than speed, the guy is very dependable at short and intermediate routes to move the chains. Both our receivers compliment each other very well in terms of their skill set.

V. Jax has made Williams into a very complete receiver. Problem is he’s getting more and more pricey to re-sign with every highlight reel catch he hauls in. Might be worth re-signing him sooner than later.

I’m sure what Keyshawn likes best about Williams is that when he’s watching Williams’ highlights, he likes to imagine that guy running around making plays is some other guy that used to wear #19 for the Bucs.

why did that rim not look like a 10 foot rim? did they make it seem that easy or was it lowered?

That’s not a 10 foot rim. Probably a shade over 9, which is still impressive, but definitely not 10 feet. You can tell by how close their head is to the net before they even jump. At Mike’s height, he can’t even come close to touching the net with his hands outstretched over his head. Still some pretty cool stuff.

@Lurker/@Hawaiian, I take it you guys have never dunked a basketball before. That was 10′ for sure. Some people just have incredible ability to get up there. I remember a guy 28 years ago when I was in Job Corps who was about 5′ 8″ and the guy was incredible.

I actually could dunk a basketball in my younger years, but that seemed like a long time ago. I don’t see what that has to do with anything as far as judging how high the rim is. Like I said, look at the net and how as soon as they leave the ground they are already over the net with their head. Way too quick for it to be legit. Obviously Mike can dunk on a 10′ rim, but I don’t believe that is one.
