It’s Still All About No. 5
November 4th, 2012Joe’s as fired up as the next fan by Doug Martin, the Bucs’ front seven, legitimate stud wide receivers and the New Schiano Order.
But Joe hasn’t lost sight of the resurrection of Josh Freeman and how the team really is all about No. 5, as Raheem Morris used to say.
Freeman hits the season’s halfway mark with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions, a far cry from the disaster of 2011, and pretty damn good in its own right. Today in Oakland, Freeman was scrambling smart and he made his share of flawless throws.
No, Freeman is far from perfect. He’s not yet elite. His completion percentage still hovers around 56 percent. But the progression is there, and he seems to be in better hands than in past years.
The sky is the limit for Freeman, and Bucs fans should be damn happy he’s ascending into higher altitudes.

I thought Free was sharp today…had some really nice throws

BUT BUT I thought we should bench Free for Dan Orlovsky!!!
BUT BUT I thought we were going to draft Geno Smith in the draft next year!!!

Martin owned the Raiders today. Freeman played good but choked hard with back to back delay penalties. Le Blount-Le Stunk today. Defense gives away to many points but makes big plays when needed.

HAHA Sensible… I was thinking the exact same thing!

Doug Martin made NFL history by setting an all time NFL record with 3 TD runs over 40 yards. 45, 67 and 70.
#83 should pay attention to how you score when getting caught from behind at the 4 yard line. Martin, a rookie, did it twice with two different techniques.
Freeman did make a couple incredible throws today. I love it when they open up the offensive playbook.

Great day to be a Bucs fan. We win and get to 4-4, Martin has a HUGE game, 25 carries for 250 and 4 TD’s.. thats ridiculous. Half way through the season Martin has definetely looked like the better pick then Richardson. Freeman continues his impressive season, Rush defense also continues to kill it. Beauty

I still don’t trust him. Hats off to him for doing a outstanding job these past couple weeks but remember how he looked at the beginning of the year. He was hot one week cold one week. The inconsistency could still be there.
Idk, I guess I’ll just be happy we are winning and just go with the flow.

It’s a close one between Freeman and Dougie right now. He sure makes
Free’s job much much much easier.

If you kept that stupid dink and dunk offense, Orlavsky would have been the proper choice.
Once the shackles are taken off Josh he starts balling. He’s still not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Over the past 4 weeks 5 has been one of the best QBs in the NFL. Today he was making tough downfield throws putting the ball in the perfect spot time and time again. There aren’t many QBs who have that kind of ball location and our WRs are reaping the benefit and most of the credit, even though Freeman is making it easy for them.

Can really start to see the relationship develop between Sully & Freeman just by watching their interaction on the sideline. Love the way this coaching staff is starting to gel.

You are not qualified to judge knife sharpness.

Haven’t see Free look that good in a long time. As Joe said, he had some pinpoint accurate throws.

Free was crisp

Wow!! Leading NFL in pts scored in the last 4 games… Never see that coming in Bucs Offense……
Future is so bright….Chucky ……..need shade..

I must say after the cowboy game I was done with Free. But sensible you were right I had a knee jerk reaction. Free is playing some of the best football I’ve seen over the last 4games.

We got one of the hottest offenses in the N-F-L! Something the Bucs have never had. Even though we have other weaknesses at the moment, I am enjoying the ride. Hopefully our defense can catch up soon and we can make a run for the playoffs.

“He’s still not the sharpest knife in the drawer.”
——-
And I guess you say this from knowing Freeman personally? Or perhaps you’ve sat down and watched film with him? Just curious on your basis for this statement, or is it just your typical flinging sh!t on the wall and see what sticks. Then again, if Chip Kelly was our coach, Freeman would be a genius. Wasn’t it you that was screaming Geno! Geno! Geno! How is West Virginia doing by the way?

This was #5’s best game this year even though he was under 300 yards. Freeman is growing before us. So many here have stupid knee jerk reactions. We finally have a very scarey offense that is capable of out scoring any team in the NFL, even our NFC South foes.
November 5th, 2012 at 8:57 am
Part of the fun of being a fan is the knee jerk reaction, getting pissed off, and celebrating a win. But some people over-analyze these games. Good coaches do not have those reactions, and know that with growing pains come losses. For heavens sake, when we lose another game, remember these four weeks before you blow up the message board with crap. I can imagine there are some defenses in our future that will make the offense forget the playbook. Josh is learning quickly and looks more comfortable than I’ve seen him as a Buc ever.
