Inactives For The Bucs Today

The Bucs just released who will not suit up today on Throwback Sunday as the Bucs host the Saints today. And the victims are:
RB Michael Smith
DB Keith Tandy
LB Jacob Cutrera
LB Najee Goode
C Cody Wallace
WR Chris Owusu
TE Danny Noble
It just blows Joe’s mind that Michael Smith is not active. Again.
Bucs coach Greg Schiano has stated how the Bucs kickoff return team needs to improve, yet the Bucs keep speedster Smith on the bench.
Doesn’t add up for Joe.

I’m with you Joe, just dont understand how they can keep a guy with 4.3 speed on the bench without even seeing what he can do in a live game.

As well as Smith did in th pre-season on kick off returns and considering the issues we have had in kick returning this season, it does stick out as a mystery why Smith hasnt done enough to get a shot returning kicks.
However… considering Smiths small size, being 4th on the HB depth chart and the fact that guy like Rejus Benn have been playing special teams… it makes since.
I wonder if Smith is even too small to play kick coverage.

Coz he runs a 4.3 don’t mean he is a good returner. You might have speed but it takes vision and skill

You obviously didnt see Smith return kicks in PS, was VERY effective, and he’s as big as Martin, and MUCH faster.

I’m sure it has more to do with ball security then anything else. Must be putting the ball on the turf in practice.

After Benn’s KO return to the 8 yd line today we might very well see Smith back there next game.
