Barron’s “Deluxe Hits” Influencing Entire D
October 18th, 2012During the TV broadcast of the Bucs-Chiefs game, CBS put up a stat that showed Kansas City had helmets ripped of its players’ heads six times during the game. The Bucs had none.
It may not be widely appreciated by the national media, but anyone following the Bucs can see that the New Schiano Order defense is absolutely laying the wood consistently.
Mason Foster is clobbering nearly everything in his path. And Mark Barron sets the tone, said Bucs defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan said today.
“If nothing else, he’s put a bunch of deluxe hits on film for people to look at, and I think that’s very contagious on our defense,” Sheridan said of Barron. “I think Quincy Black the other day had a bunch, you know, really physical hits. People can’t help but notice that when they watch the film of us as try to prepare for us. And we try to promote that, all clean hard-hitting football.”
Yes, that was Quincy Black referenced by Sheridan. It was Black and Foster who sandwiched a Chiefs receiver on a short route Sunday that led to Barron’s first-half interception.
There is no denying how physical the Bucs defense has been. Heck, they sent three New York Giants looking for medical help. If the pass rush can kick up a notch — critical Sunday against the Saints — the defense might get downright scary.

I saw that too with Quincy Black laying the WOOD while watching the Bucs on NFL Rewind.
I mean, Quincy had some nice hits Sunday.
It’s amazing what a professional coaching staff can do to a defense.

That was the greatest thing I saw that day!!

Hitting hard and stopping the run. In time, the pass rush will come, and the Bucs defense will be regularly feared just as the Ravens’ and Steelers’ were the last decade.
Very exciting times coming to Tampa Bay!

The next generation of Bucs defense is making a name for themselves and will grow to become great. They’re having a great start, but don’t crown them yet.

can we crown them “better than last year”? at least the run-d has had a transformation, nay, metamorphosis.

Tampa has taken on the persona of a hard nosed, very physical team.
No more Raheem Love and Peace, party with you in the club later mentality here.
Schiano is an asshole, Jim Harbaugh is an asshole, and so is Tom Coughlin.
Parcells was an asshole. This is what it takes to win in the NFL it seems.

The defense has progressed nicely over last year. It will take some tweaking and some more additions to become elite. But it has finally become fun to watch again. Go Bucs.

Pewter Barron’s hits remind me of another hard hitting safety we had, named Mr Lynch.
As for the entire defense, some said there was no talent, but I thought it was the coaching. I too think the best is yet to come from these players!
Go Bucs!

I prefer “Red Barron”.
Red is a Bucs color too. “Pewter” always gets exposure. 😉
