Chiefs Fall Into Must-Win Category
October 12th, 2012It’s the lowly Chiefs, an AFC opponent in Week 6, but this is the proverbial must-win for the Bucs.
No, Joe’s not thinking about playoff implications or the grand scheme of the Bucs organization, Joe’s thinking about the ugly potential reality if the Bucs were to lose to the quarterback-challenged, turnover-happy Chiefs in Tampa.
It’s unthinkable.
Look, Joe loves the Bucs, perhaps more than any mortal, and Joe can’t fathom bellying up to his keyboard if the Bucs walk off as losers to Brady Quinn on Sunday. Frankly, Joe will want to crawl into a hole, or head to Belize with Rachel Watson.
It’s not the fault of the New Schiano Order that the Bucs ended 2011 with 10-straight losses. But that weight is still there, sitting on the backs of legions of fans. The Bucs need this win to help ditch that and restore order.

If the Bucs go in with the mentality to play ultra conservative football and think they can just grind it out. It’s going to be a long day. The offense needs to put points up early and force K.C. to pass to catch up. The Bucs defense cannot afford to sit on the field for long drives and hold up for 4 quarters.

I don’t see why we shouldn’t beat the Chiefs. Their offense may be a little better, but our defense is far better. Even with all the passing yards we’ve given up. We should be up by two scores at the half.

@Joe – let’s be realistic for a moment. Your desire to head to Belize with Rachel Watson is independent of the outcome of the game!
On a serious note, I completely agree with the sentiment. I’ll be majorly bummed if we’re not celebrating a Bucs victory at 4:30 on Sunday. It’s a game we’re expected to win – it stings a bit more when you lose the ones that you’re “supposed” to win.

I couldn’t agree more!!!

I will be more pissed off if we lose to Brady Quinn, then I was when we signed Haynewurf. (that is really pissed)

Heh…reminds me of the surprise Joe got during training camp (Rachael Watson).
On topic…
I have nothing to base it on…I NEVER watched him play college ball…but I always hoped for some reason that Brady Quinn would turn things around for the better. As I understand it, he’s a jerk and really doesn’t deserve it, but I still hoped something would happen there.
That said…I hope he completely bombs Sunday.

Greg Schiano > PJ Fleck > Raheem Morris > PewterC

If they can’t beat the Chiefs with Quinn, they truly are a pathetic team.

I will turn the missle key to Yucs mode if they fall to Medicine Woman and the Chieftains…

All hope is list for 2012 if the Bucs lose to KC.

4 years into this rebuild and after prying open the Glazer’s wallet, we certainly have the talent to win this game. Unfortunately, if we look back to the last 4 minutes of the Redskins game, that will be the Little General’s game plan. To beat the Chiefs with a late field goal, maybe 6-3.
Problem is that Schiano is not smart enough to manage the clock wisely and he will allow the Chiefs time enough to march down the field uncontested with no defense and all out ineffective safety blitzes to kick the winning field.
The chant will start meakly, then spread slowly and as the 27,000 Buc fans are leaving the stadium it will rock the parking lots in a thunderous crescendo.
GENO, GENO, GENO, GENO, GENO, GENO, GENO, GENO, GENO, GENO!!

We need to win this game, one of only a few that we will be favored in. If we can stop the run we should. I really hope we open this offense up and let Josh shine. He’s done it before, he can do it again.
