The Black Magic Of Stats
October 10th, 2012Determined to take over the NFL and all sports and create jobs for themselves catering to the spreadsheet minions who only care about fantasy teams, stat geeks are distracting fans by the millions.
Joe is reminded of this Satanic cult today by the writings of Scott Smith on the cutting edge Captain’s Blog on Buccaneers.com. Smith tries to get Bucs fans excited by the NFL statistic that tells us Vincent Jackson has yet to drop a pass this season.
The minute Joe read that, Joe instantly thought of Jackson dropping at least a couple of catchable balls on opening day. In Joe’s mind, and in the minds of legions of fans and media watching that game, Jackson made those first-game drops.
But here come the stat geeks to keep the world in order. What would we do without out them?
The guys taking a drop away from Jackson are probably from the same geek squad that doesn’t believe RGIII was sacked at the Redskins 12-inch line.

Yeah that’s some BS. I recall getting a lot of people at the bar with me riled up during the Cowboys game when I yelled “55 MILLION?! YOU PAY ME 55 MILLION AND I’LL CATCH THAT BALL!”

Yeah that’s why I’m not even going to attempt to read the captains blog. No offense to Scott Smith but I’m sure the articles are a little biased. I mean he should know better than most others that V Jax dropped 2 against the Panthers.

The only stat that matters:
Wins vs. Losses
So far 1-3 is terrible. We are winning the race for the 1st pick in the draft.
If we suck this year, I hope we suck 100% completely. I want the #1 pick, none of this over achieving the last few weeks of the season and screwing it up.
Superbowl or Geno?

The talent on this team should win another 5 games but they won’t be allowed to. The coaching is so bad and overbearing it’s ridiculous.
If Hunter S Thompson hadn’t gotten whacked by the US govt, he might write a novel named, “Fear and Loathing in the NFL -2012 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
