Schiano Has Good Idea What First 15 Plays Are

In his post-practice press conference today, the last he will have with the Tampa Bay pen and mic club prior to Sunday’s season opener against the stinking Panthers, Bucs coach Greg Schiano almost seemed playful. He was certainly in an upbeat mood.
When eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune asked Schiano if he knew what the first 15 plays offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan would call Sunday, Schiano looked at eye-RAH! and nodded his head, yes. When eye-RAH! decided to pry further asking Schiano if he would be kind enough to explain the plays, Schiano, with a twinkle in his eye, smiled and said, “No.”
But the first 15 plays, despite what Schiano said, aren’t exactly locked in.
“I want [Sullivan] to have a feel,” Schiano said. What he meant was, yes, the Bucs have 15 general plays already scripted, but what type of defense and what type of down and distance the play is will dictate exactly what Sullivan calls.
“That’s what I hired him for,” Schiano said in breaking down just how the first 15 plays are called. “I want him to do it by feel.”
Schiano noted that some coaches/offensive coaches are rigid with their first 15 plays and won’t deviate. Not Sullivan, per Schiano’s instructions.
“Some [coaches] read [the script] no matter what,” Schiano said. “We mix it up depending on who you are playing.”

Did Ira really think he’d get any idea from Schiano what the team was planning? It would have been awesome if Greg replied “Yeah, I was thinking 15 punts, make sure Koenen gets going early.”
Then again, I guess Greg wasn’t brought in for his wit.

I think, and I told Sullivan, they should come out slinging the rock. Start the game like it’s 3rd and 5. Catch them off gaurd, because EVERYONE is expecting them to come out running. Get them on their heels and THEN run the ball. Hell, start off with a mis direction play, roll out Jfro and go DEEEEP to Vjax, if nothings there @ least Jfro scrambles for 5 yards. It works great on my PS3.

Why would Ira, or any F’ing media member ask such a dumb question as to tell us what the 15 plays would be? Why? Seriously, why? Why would you want your home team to share that info? If Schiano had slipped up and gave an overview of the 15 plays, you think the Panthers wouldn’t read it? Joe, I know you’re media as well…but it makes no sense why reporters ask such dumb questions.

I was thinking the same thing. If Schiano would have told him the gameplan I would have asked for him to be fired on the spot lol.

Duh!!! The 1st 15 plays will be the Statue of Liberty, then we’ll run the Statue of Liberty until it works.

On the contrary, eye-RAH! would have been wholly irresponsible not to ask that question. Heck, Schiano teed up the question for eye-RAH! Your post demonstrates that you are not familiar with the structure of the fourth estate.
Yeah, so Schiano slips and gives the assembled scribes the information, like he couldn’t change the script between now and Sunday? smh.

LMAO Kaufman wanted to know what the plays were?? Like Schiano is that stupid. All it takes is one Panther player to be on the internet and then boom…….they see his reply in the article.

Schiano: Well, Benn is looking good right now. He’s healthy. So we’re going to get right to the Benn around early in the game so we can tear apart that Panthers defense!

LOL, Ira was having fun & the coach played along. Seriously, these guys are human & can have fun, just like the rest of us, & that includes asking the obviously stupid question. Lighten up guys.
