Goodbye, E.J. Wilson
August 31st, 2012It seems E.J. Wilson, who prior to the New Schiano Order had some of the most (ahem) interesting Twitter posts that were sent out at 2 a.m., is no longer a Bucs player.
The ubiquitous Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune, rather than those relying on now-deleted Twitter postings from an MSMer, is doing gumshoe journalism and is tracking down agents of players believed to be on the bubble, including Wilson’s.
@RCummingsTrib: Add DL E.J. Wilson to the list of those released by the Bucs. Agent confirms the surprising news. Wilson looked very good during camp
Yes, Wilson had some strong practices and games, including the win over the Patriots in preseason.
Sadly for Wilson, Joe will long remember his politically incorrect Twitter ramblings in the middle of the night (like how he hated women because all he wanted was sex and women wanted a relationship) than Joe will of him making any plays on the football field.

dang! I hope ronde can play DL
August 31st, 2012 at 2:55 pm
They cut the wrong EJ!!
August 31st, 2012 at 2:57 pm
…and thinner, and thinner…
August 31st, 2012 at 2:58 pm
Just keep droppin’ those d-lineman. Looks like the Bucs are goin’ to a 3-4 lol
August 31st, 2012 at 2:58 pm
I’m doing my best to trust that Schiano has a grand master plan for the defensive line. Maybe they’ve claimed someone off waivers they like? Perhaps signed a free agent we don’t know about yet? Wow.
That’s Okam, Wilson and Okoye down. There aren’t many DT’s left standing. Trying not to get worried here.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:00 pm
Well… we need players that played like this team did:

Scratching my head here. We literally have zero depth on the D-line and they are cutting d-lineman. What is going on?
August 31st, 2012 at 3:02 pm
Obviously there is a plan in place. We aren’t going into the season this thin at DT. Just have to wonder who is in the plans.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:04 pm
@Chris FWC
Good one, lol.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:05 pm
@chris
I was thinking the same thing. Lmao
August 31st, 2012 at 3:08 pm
Don’t worry, FL Boy, Woody Cummings said that Schiano told him that it takes 25-30 years to understand this defense. You don’t really need depth at DT.
Roy Miller and GMC can handle the load. Remember last year?
The Little General and the Rockstar have it all under control, just like Bobby Valentine with the Red Sox.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:10 pm
So they cut a D-lineman who performed fairly well and cut a D-lineman who could not stay on the field enough to perform… just does not make sense. I will trust they know what they are doing.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:10 pm
Gibson, White and Nix the only remaining depth at DT.
There has to be a plan. Keep telling myself that.
:\
August 31st, 2012 at 3:14 pm
@Miguel
Sarcasm aside, it’s obvious they were as disappointed with the depth at DT as they were at OG. I just don’t know how successful you can be overhauling your DT depth so close to the start of the season. There’s no way they go into the game against Carolina with Gary Gibson, Jordan Nix and Teryl White as depth. No freaking way. They HAVE TO have a couple guys already lined up.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:19 pm
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…
August 31st, 2012 at 3:23 pm
If the team can’t find some upgrades at OG & DT from the 1200 or so players that are released this week, then something’s majorly wrong in the scouting department.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:24 pm
I would love to be at the Buccaneer Palace to watch the new DL guys sprinting their way on to this team.
I hope their legs can recover by the bye week.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:28 pm
WTF is going on here? Legit question, since I assume they must have some confidence in some guys hitting the wire.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:31 pm
anddddd there goes Miguel’s obligatory conditioning test reference again. it just wouldn’t be a day at JBF without it
August 31st, 2012 at 3:32 pm
Im sorry there just noway that these two cuts would have been made without a major splash play that we don’t know about in the works. E.J under the mantra of Greg “earned” a spot this preseason so I’d have to think they are just being courteous and allowing him the ability to find a team he can have a chance to play on? IDK im flabbergasted.

Mr. errrr DR. Grandee of Honduras of some other God forsaken country that would take him and his drug addled BS, is always complaining about something.
The glass pipes falling from trembling fingers and shattering on the pavement will do that to a “man.”
LOL
August 31st, 2012 at 3:45 pm
I think you guys are beginning to see what I have been seeing all along. The Emperor Napoleon is wearing no clothes. It’s disturbing.
How butch is that?
In about 25-30 years we’ll begin to understand this defense.
Roflmao!!!
August 31st, 2012 at 3:47 pm
lamo. Look who’s crying now. They are not STUPID. Let’s get rid of everyone with no plan. If they don’t fit they don’t stay. Would you rather them try it their way? Or Just see what we saw last year. I think I’ll let the new staff have their game plan.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:47 pm
“You can be a little more cautious at times (with players) and we’ve tried to do that (with Okoye), but at the end of the day, you’ve got to go out and earn a spot,” Schiano said Thursday.
That explains Okoye but how does that explain Wilson who most definitely has performed?
Than there is this quote “I think some have done some good things, but there’s not a huge mix to play into,” he said. “It’s not an area where we have a lot of depth. So it’s one area where, when you get behind the front-line guys, it gets a little thin.”
Soooooooooo…… you cut your only depth? I dont think Schiano is a man of contradiction so I’ll trust that he’s not a walking oxymoron for now. Please don’t disappoint.
August 31st, 2012 at 3:51 pm
WOW, with the lack of depth on the D line, this might come back to bite us in our behind.
Okoye gone, Prince gone, hmmmm I dunno my fellow Bucs fans…
August 31st, 2012 at 3:54 pm
oh now I see more people joining the panic button wagon…. come on over awful view from here… :/ …. there is no way that your going to replace cuts with other cut players and think you are gonna make magic happen over night with guys who havent even got to learn our system yet.. its not every year you get A donald Penn ..at this rate we will need 5 of those to help with OL and DL …. waiting on the Rockstar
August 31st, 2012 at 4:09 pm
I have no idea what’s going on but our defensive brain trust is not seeming very brainy right now. Control freaks are usually egotists. Are we seeing ego-cuts or practicality cuts, as this point? Was Wilson just not doing Schiano’s “Buccaneer Way?”
August 31st, 2012 at 4:36 pm
That awkward moment when your the only one laughing at your humor.
August 31st, 2012 at 4:38 pm
We really should stop asking “Grande how stupid can you be?” Cause, he’s taking it up as a challenge.
August 31st, 2012 at 4:44 pm
Maybe a big trade is coming??? This is the third DT they’ve released!
August 31st, 2012 at 5:07 pm
I hope so my high hopes for the season are fading more and more along with the already questionable Freeman.
August 31st, 2012 at 5:35 pm
Oar took the words out of my mouth! Please GO cheer for another team! This team will surprise so many people this year. Then the I told you so idiot’s will disappear.
August 31st, 2012 at 5:38 pm
There is a plan! You think they are just cutting players for the hell of it? Not very intelligent for some of you!
August 31st, 2012 at 5:56 pm
We shall see
August 31st, 2012 at 6:11 pm
Sounds like Big Mike needs to take a tube of Preparation H and squirt it in his ear.
I’ve got a little more faith than some because it’s as simple as this. The staff knows there are better people coming available.
The scary part is not knowing whom.
August 31st, 2012 at 6:27 pm
@D- Dead on.
Coach might be taking his power to his head a bit.
I think this cut is about personality.
We have no depth. Fact. No need to argue. We are going to pay Okoye $700,000 half his contract for nothing. Why not give him a test run for the first half of the season too!?
August 31st, 2012 at 6:36 pm
Word on the street is Tiquan Underwood got cut.
