Bucs-Pats Attendance Falls To 47,440
August 25th, 2012The Bucs’ attendance last night of 47,440 was surely discouraging to those yearing for the community stain of TV blackouts to leave forever.
The Bucs-Pats preseason game last year drew a crowd of 49,313, per ESPN data. Joe’s no math major, but that means last night’s game represented a drop of roughly 2,000 fans, or 4 percent.
One would think the New Schiano Order and last night’s victory, and Cam Newton in town, and honoring Ronde Barber’s 200th start, would generate enough buzz over the next 12 days to avoid a blackout by the league deadline of Thursday, Sept. 6.
Joe sure hopes so, but it’s hardly a given that Bucs fans get the job done.

And it seemed awfully loud when the Pats scored.
A Buccaneer revival is in order hopefully that order is the New Schiano one.

Didn’t seem like almost 50k in the stadium. I would say about 30-35k, if that. Don’t expect more during scrimmage games/preseason games/practice games. Many season ticket holders don’t even go to the games. A good way to not have to worry about blackouts is just buy tickets if you’re a true fan.

I agree! In the 20 or so years of having season tickets; I’ve probably made it to 8 preseason games at the most. These games are not a good indication of how good or bad the team may end up. Even though the weather ended up being nice last night; most preseason games in Tampa end up being 90 degrees with thunder storms.

I’ve noticed a lot of people locally have become complacent about the Bucs. I think it’s a combination of bad play, low spending (past) and economics. It’s going to take a lot of work for the Bucs to overcome the challenge of sellouts.
I think 3 or more sellouts would be acceptable. Would be great to see more though.
