Adam Schein Blasts Bucs

February 26th, 2009

Bucs fans who are angry at the Glazer Boys, Mark Dominik and The Dream this morning, you have a friend in Adam Schein.

The co-host of Sirius NFL Radio’s “The Blitz,” (Justin, what about the NFL thieving your radio show name?) Schein is absolutely unloading this morning on the Bucs front office. And his co-host John Riggins is in agreement.

In short, Schein is beyond outraged at Derrick Brooks being let loose.

“If you want to talk Cato June being cut, OK. Ike Hilliard? I can understand. Joey Galloway, sure. Warrick Dunn, though he’s still productive, well, OK.

“But how the hell do you cut Derrick Brooks? This to me is one of the worst moves I have ever seen an NFL team make. This isn’t a Marvin Harrison situation with a salary cap issue. The Bucs are well under the cap. Brooks had a very good season. Yeah, he got hurt late, OK. That’s fine. He’s still a very good player. He still the linebacker who not only will beat you with his skills, with his ability, but he will beat you with his brains.

“He’s one of the smartest players we’ve seen on defense in the last 25 years. He’s a leader on the ballclub, a leader off the field. I have no idea what the hell the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are doing.”

Riggins wasn’t quite as vocal (or loud) as Schein but he didn’t disagree.

“I’m stunned,” Riggins said. “Who is there new general manager? Is this really a youth movement? They are rumored to be after [Albert] Haynesworth. There must be something more to it than it looks from the outside. [Brooks is] still a productive player. This is a headscratcher.”

Schein then resumed his emotional rant.

“How do you rationalize this? This is Derrick Brooks. DERRICK BROOKS! This s not just a Hall of Famer just hanging on. He’s still a productive NFL player.

“This is just asinine. We will let Bucs fans vent today. This just doesn’t make any sense. This just floored me. It had me dizzy yesterday. I can’t believe what happened to Derrick Brooks. If I was a fan I would be livid. If I was a season ticket holder, I’d be livid.”

Riggins then suggested a gloomy future for the Bucs.

“What happened down in Tampa is like a roundhouse. This not only caught Gruden and Allen by surprise but all the fans. It’s pretty obvious the Tampa Bay Bucs want to go in a different direction. Well, I can tell you, they are definitely going in a different direction. I’m not sure it’s the direction they may want.”

Why do you continue to run these negative stories? Who cares about Adam Schien and Riggins. It was time to move on, any intelligent Buc fan knows this. You will not survive running these anti-Buc stories. These national bozos are CLUELESS when it comes to the Bucs, as are you.

    Dave:

First, thanks as always for reading and commenting.

When people talk Bucs and bring up relevant takes on a specific Bucs subject, in Joe’s eyes that’s news. And Joe will bring it to Bucs fans.

Joe is not Rachel Watson nor does he own a skirt or pom-poms. Nor is Joe Bud Selig. Joe does not bury his head in the sand at Treasure Island, stick his fingers in his ears, closes his eyes and hums “LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA” to himself when he hears news that may not be the kind coming from Rachel’s lovely lips.

The fact the Bucs cut Brooks is easily the biggest Bucs story since the Bucs won the Super Bowl. The man is not just a local icon, not just a state icon, but a national football figure. Joe is not about to ignore this, nor anything that someone may perceive to be “negative.”

If you didn’t want to hear or read about Brooks (and others) being cut, maybe Dave you should have called Mark Dominik and told him not to make the move.

As for “who cares” about Adam Schein? Well, Sirius has nearly eight million subscribers and NFL Radio is one of the most popular channels on Sirius outside of Howard Stern’s channel.

I dare suggest more Bucs fans listen to Schein than that documented steroid abuser in the morning or those unemployed has-been chicken wing waitresses in the afternoon heard locally.

So to answer your question Dave, millions of football fans care what Adam Schein says, including Joe.

Just because you may not care Dave doesn’t mean other Bucs fans don’t. And judging by the number of Bucs fans calling Schein this morning, and from hearing callers while on hold before Joe’s appearance on “J.P.’s Happy Hour” yesterday, and from hearing the callers on “The Big Dog,” Steve Duemig’s show yesterday, Joe believes you may be in the minority.

Again, thanks Dave for reading JoeBucsFan.com and being a regular commenter. Joe appreciates it.

Dave, yet again you continue to read and write on this lil slice of Buc news heaven that Joe takes his own time and thoughts to write about.

It’s on topic Dave. It’s football Dave. Better yet, it’s Buc football Dave!

Go buy yourself a 2009 Pittsburg Steelers jersey..I know you already got the SB DVD for them.

Go make a POSITIVE Buc site then where you discuss non-issues like the Buc cheerleader cookbook or something.

Adam Schein said exactly what i posted here in a comment yesterday,i need to get a radio show…actually ,my anger actually is growing by the hour rather then lessoning. the more i think and read about it,the less sense it makes. As to Dave..you are probably one who “believes in the dream”. Well if your “dream” involves cutting a HOF linebacker who is still playing at a relatively high level,a leader,a cerebal assasian,a community icon, a relatively inexpensive cap number,,then you Sir are have some really disturbng “dreams”. Go worship at the Raheem Morris Mark Dominik altar,im sure there isnt much of a waiting line. No way does Brooks get cut under Gruden and Allen. So what if Gruden yelled at players, or ignored injured non contributers.. He has what these 2 scumbags won’t ever get,,, a Super Bowl Ring

  5. Mr. Lucky Says:

Go ahead and vent, get it out, yell scream and shout.

    Problem is facts are facts.

Green Bay fans weren’t too happy about letting Brett go – remember? Then at the end of the season what happened? Go look up the numbers.

Sometimes you’ve got to do the unpopular decision and it isn’t fun.

When all is said and done and the facts are in I think people will feel differently about this in 2010.

  6. Kris Says:

what was brett’s cap number for 08 AND 09? I guarentee alot more then D.B.brooks was signed for this year only, not 2 more years like Favre was starting in 08,,his cutting only saved $3m..and their isnt an Aaron Rodgers waiting behind Brooks to play linebacker..and the pakcers TRADED Favre and didnt cut him like a practice squad Tool.Facts are facts so your point is incorrect on all fronts,, Go follow dave and worship and The Dream’s and Mark Dumnik’s altar and drink their Kool Aid. Bye week 8 you’re goin be wishing for Sam Wyche to come back.
