The Dream = Herm Edwards?
February 26th, 2009Speaking about the Bucs on Sirius NFL Radio’s “The Opening Drive” this morning, co-hosts Randy Cross and Bob Papa didn’t paint a very rosy picture for the Bucs this season.
“New isn’t always good unless you know what you are doing. Youth isn’t always better but it’s cheaper,” Cross said of the Bucs new regime and alleged youth moment on the field.
Cross went on to predict that the Bucs “won’t be anywhere near” the salary cap when free agency ends, despite having his figures way off (Cross said the Bucs were $50 million under the cap).
Papa concurred saying, “Why would you [spend like a drunken sailor] when you’ve done what they just did? Generally teams that are rebuilding or going to a youth moment don’t overspend on free agents.
“Look, in 2007 they had a lackluster effort in the playoffs and they stunk the last four games last season. Why would you want to bring that back?”
Cross also had a dire prediction for The Dream.
“I wish Raheem Morris all the luck in the world. The last coach to take over a team that was rebuilding was Herm Edwards.”

“Jim Bates doesn’t like speed” Then Jim Bates must not like wins. At this point I wish “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes was making personel and scheme decsions over the The 3 Muskateers we have now(Raheem Morris,Jim Mates,Mark Dominik). And i can’t forget the puppet masters, the glazers, who are probably not goin to allow $10m of the $60m we have in cap room spent so we can align their overstuffed pockets with more profits.Im from Baltimore,so seeing 1st hand the downfall of the orioles, i know when what I call “suckdom” is near. And for the Bucs,,it’s coming near.I hope D.B. goes to the Saints,,where they need a LB(even though Brooks isn’t strong enough it seems) and sticks it to us 2 times a year. There was a comment on a previous post who stated basically you root for the jersey not the player in it. While that is true to an extent, ifyou see your franchise treat a HOF player,a pillar of the community, a player who never misses practice, games, meetings, never gets arrested or complains, like this then what does that say about the people in charge. If they are willing to get rid of HIM,how can you have confidence in what moves they will make involving players of MUCH LESS stature the D.B. Being a Bucs fan for 14 years, Ive never seen anything that stinks like this. If i see 1 more picture of “The Nightmare” and his stupid wide eyed smile,im going to puke.

The problem the Bucs have is. they do not have any worthy back ups. For all the positions that are vacated. It is going to be extremely hard to fill all those spots. I am afraid they are going to struggle for 2 to 3 years. Thats if they do everything right.
Thanks ‘Double Nickel” for all the great plays. You will be missed. Can’t wait to see all the Buc’s at Canton.
