What? No Slow Start?

The hallmark of the Raheem Morris regime was slow starts.
Even when the Bucs were winning games in 2010, more often than not they were comebacks after sluggish first quarters and porous first-halves for the defense.
There were no solutions for what the previous staff seemed to think was bad luck. Of course, it wasn’t just lousy luck.
But it seems Greg Schianos has found a way to avoid the opening-whistle blues.
The Dolphins under a brand new coach — at home — didn’t bring the same juice as the Bucs tonight to start the game.
Joe’s going to consider the fast start alone as a victory.

joe, Rah had the mentality of- here’s the game plan, lets hope it works. Schiano’s mentality is- here’s the game plan, and it better work. he has his demands meet up with his expectations.

Watching Dave Wirth after the game he mentioned going into the Bucs locker room during their hideous 10 game losing streak and he said it was like a party and no one seem to care. I wonder how and why this continued? Where was the GM during this disaster and embarrassing time?

Dominik didn’t hire “Rah”. It was a Glazer hire, says so on their webpage.
So he couldn’t fire him, but I’m sure he let the Glazers know that “Rah” had to go as soon as possible.
And it was impossible to fire him mid-season. Who would be the interim Head and the interim DC? Olsen? The obvious choice Rich Bisaccia had already bolted before the season.

One thing that stuck out to me with the first and second team defenses was the play calling and the execution was flawless. Schiano and Co. seemed to know exactly what the Dolphins were doing on offense before the play took place.

Watching the games last year were so hard. We were extremely bad at playing good football in the first quarter. This was preseason but I enjoyed watching the team start fast. They played liked the game mattered and I believe thats what we need.

@Brad,
If that’s true, that’s horrible. However, that’s not (or at least shouldn’t be) a GM’s job. That falls on the coach, 100%. A GM builds the team, a coach is responsible for the attitude a team has. I’m sure if Dominik saw that, it made his decision a lot easier. But you are wrong in expecting the GM to bust into the locker room and throw chairs to get guy’s attention.

Does that mean I can’t say how much I miss watching Freeman call time out cause Olson was so slow getting the play in ? Really loved that last year…NOT!

Can someone please do me a favor and confirm how many games it has been since the Bucs exceeded 7 points in the 1st quarter? Last I checked I think it was somewhere in the neck of 2 seasons. Seriously, if someone has the figure, it would be much appreciated.
