WMOR Picks Up Thursday Night Bucs Game
July 10th, 2012Joe is a man, therefore, as Rene Descartes might say, Joe has the NFL Network.
Joe understands there are some — for reasons unknown yet purely illogical — that choose not to have the NFL Network (and if you do not have the Man’s Channel, it is your choice, it’s that simple).
This type of mentality, choosing not to have the Man’s Channel, is akin to Joe to lusting over Candy Crowley as opposed to, say, Courtney Friel. Joe just can’t think this way.
So for the troubled, unfortunate few who do not have the Man’s Channel, Scott Reynolds of PewterReport.com has welcome news for you.
Women throughout the Tampa Bay area will be able to watch the Bucs’ Oct. 25 Thursday night game at Minnesota can on WMOR-TV Channel 32.
Coming off a 4-12 record in the 2011 season, the Buccaneers were only slated to play one game in prime time in 2012. That game takes place on Thursday, October 25 at Minnesota and will be broadcast nationally on NFL Network. For those Buccaneers fans that don’t have NFL Network, MOR-TV has secured the local broadcast rights to air the game in the Tampa Bay area.
Again, this was no issue for Joe as he (literally) enjoys NFL Network on a daily basis.
It’s just an absolute disgrace that a coaxial cable outfit locally holds so many Bucs fans hostage by not providing such outstanding programming — but sees fit to pipe in a New York City, 24/7 all-news channel into innocent, unsuspecting citizens homes, not to mention the noise pollution of virtually every two-bit shopping channel known to man.
It’s a direct slap in the face to every sports fan in what is considered a strong football market.

Maybe I’m dense, but the end of this posting makes little sense to me.
Yet, I’m not too narrow to see Joe pushes the sexist envelope well.
What’s the gripe again, Joe?
July 10th, 2012 at 9:05 am
The NFL Network is not available for some of us around the Bay, like where my house is particularly located in Clearwater.
July 10th, 2012 at 9:09 am
I agree with Joe. I’ll take NFL network. I’ve had them since 06 and they are great. Not to mention Sunday ticket. Dtv for me all the way!
July 10th, 2012 at 9:17 am
Right, Tuggz
But why is the NFL network not to blame? There are two sides to every negotiation.
Why does the network insist on charging the cable providers a fee, unlike other cable channels such as HBO, which passes the fee on to the viewers?
Goodell is more to blame than the cable networks; name another cable channel that charges the fees to the provider.
If you can, I’ll be happy to eat my words.
July 10th, 2012 at 9:31 am
JOe here,
@Tuggz – That’s odd. If you can’t get NFL Network, that means DirecTV, Dish Network, Knology cable, and Verizon cable are not available in your home. That’s pretty bizarre for Clearwater. …Joe lives in Clearwater and hasn’t heard of such a black hole of doom.
July 10th, 2012 at 9:58 am
Allow me to reiterate: Verizon Fios is not available in parts of Clearwater. Knology?… Really? For cable & internet. Take a gander over at google reviews for that one. Actually… do you know of anyone with that service? Is that what you’d drop your dollar on each month?
As for DirecTv, a satellite feed in hurricane blasted, lightning capital of the world Florida. What is this, the 80s?
If I had to bet, Joe, I’d go all in that your pad isn’t wired up for anything other than that sweet Fios. Call it a hunch.
July 10th, 2012 at 10:15 am
I’ve had DirecTV forever in Clearwater without a problem. I’ll take my chances that lightning doesn’t zap my little dish of love.
July 10th, 2012 at 10:15 am
@Tuggz: Exactly. There is almost no chance that Joe has anything other than FiOS. If he had DirecTV he would have already complained about the half dozen times he’s lost service this summer.
Joe likes to insult those who don’t have a realistic option for the NFL Network because he thinks it’s funny. It might be if the majority of his readers had FiOS, but I’m guessing a majority don’t. So, again, he makes jokes which insult a large portion of his readers. Ha…Ha. So…funny.
July 10th, 2012 at 10:18 am
Upon further review it looks as if Knology doesn’t even have the rights to air the damn games ON their NFL Network channel feed. The best you get is the RedZone. Count me out.

Joe:
“Joe understands there are some — for reasons unknown yet purely illogical — that choose not to have the NFL Network (and if you do not have the Man’s Channel, it is your choice, it’s that simple).”
Really, Joe? Don’t you think a large portion of us want NFLN but cannot get it? Most of Tampa is served by Brighthouse. They refuse to get NFLN.
And, according to recent reports, because of the housing markets, most people live in apartments now. Apartment complexes that allow satellite dishes are few and far between.
So stop assuming we’re making a choice.
If NFLN were to offer 24/7 streaming through the Internet or devices like Roku, even at $10 monthly, I would pay in a heartbeat.
July 10th, 2012 at 10:25 am
And, btw…contracted Brighthouse areas cannot get Verizon Fios either.
July 10th, 2012 at 10:27 am
btw, there is NFL Network online streaming…here’s what it tells me:
“You are accessing this page from a restricted territory. NFL Network Online is not available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and any U.S. territories, possessions and commonwealths (including American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands).”

Joe here,
Goodness, Joe has upset some folks. There are two Joes, as many readers know. One lives in St. Pete and only has DirecTV and has had it for years. The other Joe in Clearwater has had a variety of services over the years, including DirecTV, but right now Verizon supplies all services and there’s an additional Knology feed in the home. … THat should satisfy those wondering.
Of course, Joe’s sense of humor with his NFL Network rant implies that real men should relocate if for some reason can’t get NFL Network.
@Pete Dutcher – As for apartment complexes, there are laws in place that do not allow complexes and condo associations to prohibit small dishes like DirecTV. Joe can’t quote statutes, but the laws are out there for years.
July 10th, 2012 at 10:41 am
Full disclosure. I visit my 75-year-old dad on Thursday nights in Dunedin because he has Knology and NFL Network. We watch the games together. lol

.
Those laws only apply IF the apartment complexes have balconies or enclosed patios. Fewer and fewer have them.

Found it:
“…includes single family homes, condominiums, cooperatives, townhomes and manufactured homes. In the case of condominiums, cooperatives and rental properties, the rules apply to “exclusive use” areas, like terraces, balconies or patios…”

Can someone explain the 2 Joe’s thing?
Do the both run the website equally? Or does one do the article writing?
Sorry, I have only seen it mentioned in passing.
July 10th, 2012 at 1:34 pm
Joe here,
@ALSTOTTSMART – Two longtime sportswriters own the site and write as the voice of Joe. It’s pretty much an even split on the writing.
July 10th, 2012 at 2:21 pm
Why is everybody getting so offended over something so silly? He goes on to tell you towards they end he understands some companies refuse to get the NFLN… if you cant get it then you cant get it… who cares what joe or somebody else thinks about that? lol relax, life is to short to let something so silly get you so upset
July 10th, 2012 at 3:20 pm
I still think lol looks like someone drowning…and that $h!t ain’t funny!
July 10th, 2012 at 3:25 pm
I remember back in the day when there was only a hand full of television channels, my corded home phone had a dial on it, and my computer was a texas instruments!
July 10th, 2012 at 5:14 pm
@Joe
Fascinating. I had no idea.
July 10th, 2012 at 6:50 pm
Gentlemen:
Joe has had DirecTV since 1997. Disruptions in service due to cloud cover (at least for Joe) always have been minimal. Usually in the middle of the summer, in the middle of the afternoon, Joe would lose a signal for 10-20 minutes. Guess what? That’s when Joe is working.
And yes, people choose to not have the NFL Network and choose to have, for example, OutHouse Networks. You choose where you want to live, right? Since Joe first had DirecTV, whenever he moved, whenever he bought a home, the very first question was, “Is DirecTV available?” If the answer was no, that was a deal breaker and Joe didn’t waste anyone’s additional time.
Outside of convicts, nursing home residents or those not yet old enough to move out of their parents’ nest, Joe knows of no one who is forced to live in a specific residence.
July 10th, 2012 at 6:57 pm
Joe is chagrin no one commented on Courtney Friel.
You guys are slipping! 🙂
July 10th, 2012 at 7:06 pm
@Joe,
To be frank, your rhetoric is slipping. The end of this post, e.g. “hostage” is still just false to no end.
Still love the site.

Not that simple. Affordability plays a huge role. I have moved only twice in the past 15 years. On a fixed income I go with what fits my budget. Brighthouse is included with our rent here.
Just curious, Joe…can you pay your bills with just $2,000 monthy and still raise two teens? Its not easy. You go with the best neighborhood poss with a strict budget.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:47 pm
Pete:
Joe has priorities. One priority is to be a man and have the NFL Network. If that means Joe must scale back on other things, so be it.
And yes Pete, don’t live in denial. You chose to live in an OutHouse. No one put a gun to your head to sign the lease. It is that simple.
