Talib And Schiano Bonding

Joe still hears the words of Bucs icon Derrick Brooks talking last week, “I honestly believe that [Talib’s] a changed man.”
And Brooks went on to say Talib has been “transitioning” over the past eight months (a very specific timetable) and Brooks has been witness to the personal growth in the Bucs’ cornerback.
Now Joe sees on Buccaneers.com that Greg Schiano and Talib spent some together time Tuesday visiting kids at Pepin Academies, which largely teaches students with learning disabilities.
“Coach told me that he was going to come by [Pepin] and get a tour and learn more about the school and I was in town just working out,” said Talib. “So he asked if I wanted to come along. I definitely wanted to come along to see a different learning environment, something I had never seen before, something I didn’t know existed, really.”

Perhaps Talib really has his toes on the line and has overhauled his life? And Joe wonders how that might translate positively on the field.

great to see him trying to be a better man, football should be second in his life right now or at least 1b with becomming a better person….im pulling for Talib, even tho when he got drafted i was for hometown man Mike Jenkins….glad we got Talib instead…GO BUCS!!

This kind of positive off-the-field involvement, coupled with Talib’s court dismissal, and cemented by the length of time he has been trouble-free all works in Talib’s favor and lessens the likelihood of Goodell punishing him any further.
Then there is Schiano. Would you associate with, speak well of, and make public appearances with a person you did not approve of? I would not and I don’t think Schiano would either.
For me the issue is clear. It is up to Talib to be the master of his destiny and have his future be known for his redemption and good works.
Toward this end, I wish him continued growth and success!

Redemption has to start somewhere. Great to see Schiano supporting Talib, hope Talib in turn will support the Bucs with a lockdown season.

I’m an athletic supporter of Aqib Talib and am eager to see him take positive steps with his personal public relations, but maybe when the Little General mentioned Pepin Distribution, he probably thought, free beer, I’m in!
I know that’s probably what Joe would be thinking.

Sorry about the premature aqib comment yesterday joe. I really enjoy the site. Thanks for addressing this positive story. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come from talib. It is never too late for someone to change. Go Bucs

I can tell by the picture Schiano told him not to dress like a thug. Never seen him in slacks and tucked in shirt before.

Talib is one of the best players on the team.
Teammates have always praised him.
Smart move by Schiano showing his support, Talib can flat play. As the players around him improve his value will become more apparent.

I’m pretty impressed that there isn’t much negativity from this story, not even from Thomas. I have no idea if he really is changing, but there is a lot of evidence to suggest he is. Obviously time will tell, but so far so good. Perhaps a man like Schiano is exactly what Talib needs. Joe, any word on when a decision is expected on if he gets suspended or not? Surely it would be pretty soon.
