Bucs Pushing Hard For Opening Day Sellout
June 27th, 2012In a move clearly designed to start the New Schiano Order on the right foot and end the community stain of TV blackouts of home Bucs games, Team Glazer has announced it is selling home-opener tickets early — starting Friday — plus opening-day concessions will be half price and some free parking will be available for that game.
One can only hope this means Joe’s Blackout Tour will not have to resurrect for its third season.
Fans attending the game will be treated to a commemorative Ronde Barber gym sack, while also receiving 50% off all concessions (excluding alcohol) in both General and Club levels, and being offered free parking in select lots.
“As we usher in a new Buccaneer era that kicks off in September, we are looking forward to celebrating Ronde Barber’s 200th straight start,” said Buccaneers Co-Chairman Bryan Glazer. “Ronde has made us all proud during his 15 seasons with the team, and this next milestone is yet another along the road that we expect will lead to Canton. Our fans have a lot to look forward to this season, and we hope this promotion helps give everyone the chance to both celebrate a Bucs great and join the fight.”
While Joe would hardly wager on the game selling out, one can legitmately hope that this move, plus premier free agents in house, plus a new regime, plus Cam Newton in the building will get the job done.

!/2 off all Concessions at Tampa Stadium, except Beer ?
Heck, Beer is the ONLY Concession I buy at Tampa Stadium, and even more of it, if my Bucs are losing.
June 27th, 2012 at 10:35 am
Chris:
Do as Joe used to do: Load up on beer before the game. Saves a lot of cash and no issues driving home afterwards as you have sweated the beer out of your system by game’s end.
June 27th, 2012 at 10:54 am
I hate Cam Newton and all the hype. I feel he’s arrogant and over-rated and I hope we (and the rest of the NFL) proves that statement.

Thanks Glazer Family for slighty lifting your heel off of the Fans throats (with the discounts). A Middle Linebacker would have been all I needed. I mean, you are $16 Million under the Cap still. Which means, you are NOT “doing whatever it takes to win”. They are not trying to win the Super Bowl and have not for many years. Go Manchester United though….woohoo

So Joe, did you quit drinking or just stop going to the games? BTW, thanks for this mornings cup of Joe, what a beauty.

.
You expect them to spend everything so if something comes up they cannot act on it? Not very smart in business, are you?
The Bucs have a middle linebacker. Foster was thrown to the wolves without ANY pro training and without a defensive playbook worth working from. He he no off season to learn and acclimate. This year he’ll be improved and you can eat your words.
So far this year, the Glazers have:
a. fired a crapload of coaches
b. hired a crapload of coaches
c. signed the #1 offensive lineman in free agency
d. signed one of the top wide receivers in free agency
e. signed one of the best available Cornerbacks in free agency
f. hired a head coach who seems a combination of Tony Dungy and Bill Billicheat
g. hired an offensive coordinator who is not only a genius at quarterback development, but who is familiar with the Giants offensive schemes
h. Surrounded the new coach with a great staff
i. surrounded the new coach with great advisers
j. gave him money to spend
In addition, we drafted multiple areas of need, starting with a killer safety and a killer running back.
Dini’s Biceps, after viewing the list above…it’s clear NOTHING will be enough to please you. NOTHING. AT. ALL.
June 27th, 2012 at 12:18 pm
And I didn’t even list all the good things they’ve done this year.
June 27th, 2012 at 12:25 pm
Damn Pete…..well said dude, well said. Its like nothing is never good enough for some people on here. What will the Glazers have to do to satisfy some of these negative people, sign the number 1 free agent at every position on the field…….sigh……… you guys freakin amaze me!!!!!
June 27th, 2012 at 12:38 pm
Might want to beat Cam once before your overrated chants start.
June 27th, 2012 at 12:55 pm
Half off beers and I’m there. What are they now, $9 for a regular?
June 27th, 2012 at 1:34 pm
$16,000,000 in cap left, I hope something good comes along and we can act on it.
We could use another piece or two on Defense: DE, MLB.
June 27th, 2012 at 2:34 pm
1) Obviously the Glazers are making every effort to sell out the game and please the fans attending.
2) The excuses from those who can afford to go will remain lame.
3) If drinking beer is THAT important to you, stay home and throw up and swear there. You’re doing the rest of us a big favor. If you are typing about one or two beers and acting like an adult, see #2).
June 27th, 2012 at 2:46 pm
Seriously, there’s still Glazer hating going on? REALLY? You have to wonder at what point it stops being about genuine disagreement over decision making, and descends into good ol’ fashion anti-Semitism…
oh, and just to add to Pete’s excellent post, remember how the Bucs rolled over all the cap space from last season so that they would have more to spend in free agency this year? wouldn’t it be nice to have an additional 16 million for next free agency, in addition to the 2013 cap space?
June 27th, 2012 at 3:00 pm
They did this last year and all the credit card machines were broken and the concession stands ran out of food. It was so bad, I got a phone call from the Relations department and they sent me $10 is stadium dollars.
June 27th, 2012 at 3:02 pm
Good comment, Pete.
Yes, that needed to be said, I was thinking exactly along those lines when I read Dini’s comment earlier in class. Though, I did not have the time to comment back. You can’t ask for much more than the Glazer’s gave the fans during this off season.
@Dini
Bickering about a MLB after all of the upgrades we got in the draft and free agency, really? I have ton a faith in Mason Foster, he should be a far better player than he was in his ROOKIE year. Face it there weren’t any stud MLB in free agency anyway. I’ll take Foster over “one trick pony” Curtis Lofton any day of the week.
Saying you won’t go to a game because the Bucs didn’t bring bring in a MLB is a pretty moronic argument. Have you been hiding under a rock during the off season or something?

Are you saying all that Okolo and Aqib Talib hating is because he’s an Ethiopian?
June 27th, 2012 at 3:23 pm
Miguel
Stupid is as stupid does!
That’s all I have to say about that.

Dini’s weeny excuses and complaints are as valid as Mr. errr Dr. Grandee’s US passport.
The fans who WILL be there are the best of the best. Go if you can and join the party!
Buccaneers in 2012?
Can’t WAIT!!!
June 27th, 2012 at 3:51 pm
Quote taken from the front page of GurS website.
“With Aaron Rodgers being crowned our #1 player for 2012 we thought it was time to answer dip into our bulging mailbag, sift through the pleas for help from Nigerian princes and answer some questions from our devoted readers regarding our rankings!”
I don’t know if that is “antisemitic” or “pro-semetic”. Pretty sure the Nigerian princes comment was Semetic.
June 27th, 2012 at 4:01 pm
Dini’s biceps,
Who exactly did you want us to sign? Are you really upset we didn’t sign Lofton, especially witht the ridiculous amount of money he was asking for? Do you even realize he’s not an every down LB? My money says you have never seen the guy play, and are just looking for something to b!tch about. You make it very obvious you have never run a business, and I suggest you never do. I look forward to the day the Bucs start winning and people like you disappear.
June 27th, 2012 at 4:08 pm
Miguel
Really?? He’s referring to the BS email scams of the Nigerian princes that are looking for money.
Please spit that worm out! Those things will fry what you’ve got left, which doesn’t seem to be much!
June 27th, 2012 at 4:17 pm
Oh, Miguel, you aren’t very bright, are you? Not only is your pitiful attempt at trolling so very transparent, but you prove your own idiocy by spending time clicking on my blog (thanks for the hits, by the way) trying to find some basis for an infantile ‘attack’, but you couldn’t even be bothered to actually check if what you are saying is correct.
Nigerians are not, and have never been, Semitic, but rather (if we’re talking about Nigeria) are made up of Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba peoples. Clearly, you saw that the Semitic languages come from a small part of Africa, so you just assumed anywhere in Africa must be a Semitic region. Word to the “wise”: unlike you, other people tend not to believe all black people are the same, so you were always going to end up looking like an utter idiot the moment you typed that comment.
Burn, biatch.

So are the Bucs good Afrikans or bad Afrikans? Clearly, you believe all Nigerians are bad. Am I a good Mexican or bad? Azteca, Mayan or Spaniard? Can’t we all just get along?
June 27th, 2012 at 6:01 pm
Well, Miguel finally made a point that I agree with (the term anti-Semitic is perhaps a little dumb, especially when applied to Arabs); but instead of properly explaining himself he just acts all douchey and stupid. Also, Miguel, it’s Afrikaners, not Afrikans. slight difference there.
On a more positive note, me and a couple of my fellow Bucs fans up here in Southern Illinois are planning on coming to this game, Go Bucs!
June 27th, 2012 at 6:55 pm
Miguel, I suggest that you put down the pipe and get a hobby…
June 27th, 2012 at 7:27 pm
Miguel, I had really hoped we lost your dumbass. How unfortunate. Please just post one meaningful comment as a start.
The cap room is there for future signings and insurance. Pretty obvious don’t you think? Before Game 1, all of the teams have to cut down from a 90 man roster to 53 + Practice. I believe Practice Squad players also have to clear waivers. That means an excess of 1000 players will be available to fill holes on teams. Very good teams, stacked with talent will likely waive 3’rd or 4’th round players that can be plucked to fill holes. Some will release veteran players too, that will cost money. Teams without cap space, are limited in what they can do or pay to draw players in. What is this rocket science or common sense? We really have some stupid fans here.

Stupid parents beget stupid children. This is why abortion should always remain legal and help keep acluistic people from reproducing.

We also haven’t signed Mark Barron either.
